Great value for money, interesting track
First thing to say is that this is a golf course in a beautiful location. Views over Manchester and surrounding areas on a clear day, can't ask for much better scenery.
Testing walk for sure, not for the faint hearted or unfit 😂
Golf-wise, a gentle start with not masses to write home about but the more you play, the better it gets, a couple of nice short holes and the 17th particularly good to look at.
Course condition was excellent for time of year although people not even trying to fill their divots always an annoyance on this type of 'spa course'.
All in all, it's a very good value for money place to play, not busy at all, pace of play good too. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent hidden gem
First time playing and won’t be my last. Course was in great condition after a lot of bad weather. Looking forward to next time.
Enjoyable Experience
Still a little wet after the rain leading up to the weekend but in good condition and played well. Views over Cheshire and to Manchester great as usual.
Excellent golf course
Very good golf course. Challenging but enjoyable, greens were in excellent condition.
Will play here again.
Disappointing experience
Played this course many times before, once or twice a year on average and I now think I will give it a miss for a while. Course looked a bit of a mess. Greens spiked and covered in sand. Made putting horrible and frustrating. Course also had many groundsmen working on pretty much every other hole. They were friendly enough but not quick at stopping to allow you to play through. We also found the smell on the 8th green unbearable. Many of the holes feel like they need a refresh and tidy up. Once we completed our round around 2pm we wanted to get a bite to eat and a drink. We were then informed we could not have food but a drink would be fine. The staff member as alone so could not supply us with food. They were very friendly and polite however. So other than the course being virtually deserted and the staff being polite in the bar I cannot say too much for this course. We did pay £25 each for the round for a hot deal and for that price we were prepared to accept our dissatisfaction. But the normal rate of £35 which appears on GolfNow is just far too expensive for what you get out on the course and beyond sadly. Cause that wasn’t always the case
Shrigley Hall always a good day out. Nice course friendly bar staff
Stunning course, very very slow play let it down a little.
Mixed feelings
Played the course for the first time. Checked in and had to wait for the pro to come off the phone chatting and joking with a mate.
Early tee time at 8.10. Lovely course, very challenging holes.
What was irritating was that we were disturbed by the green keepers on literally every hole. Be it one of them waiting for us to tee off or working away from us or others mowing the lawn around us or in the direction of our shots it was simply off-putting. I didn’t expect having my game interrupted by green keepers at that time, surely they should start before customers tee off. I appreciate the work has to be done but it really interferes with play.
Four Ball
Excellent Course. We’ll payed out. Challenging and a big course
2nd timer
2nd time round here. Last year had a mare. This time front nine was good but back nine got the better of me. We got a buggy this time which was a god send. Lost a few balls which is unusual for me. Course in great nick though.
Challenging
Let me start by saying that this was the best course I've played in the short time I have played. That said, having played a couple of very hilly and physically demanding courses, shrigley was the most testing from a physical perspective. I made the fatal error of not taking a buggy or a battery powered trolly. There are some seriously steep fairways on this course and a buggy would have made it a perfect day.
The fairways themselves were perfect; I played in May during a dry spell after a day of rain. Needless to say that drainage isn't an issue on this course. Greens were perfect, and I mean perfect.
Given the location, it's very windy, makes it all the more rewarding when you read the direction just right, but get it wrong and you're punished as some of the fairways are on a serious slope.
Beautiful course, amazing views, great facilities. Play it.
Great course
Shrigley Hall is a challenging course with all types of holes. Hills and wind to contend with but worth the views and walk.
My favourite course. Every hole has something interesting and different about it. Some very tricky holes particularly the 7th and par 3 8th. But the course is always tip top. We played 12.05 on a Saturday, nobody holding us up and nobody trying to rush us either. I’d play this course everyday if I could. Superb.
