Southampton City - 18-hole Course

It was my first time playing this course and it is the cheapest 18 holes that I've played (£16). The overall condition of the course is excellent - hats off to the green keeping team for managing it so well. All holes at the moment were off winter tees, but that didn't bother me. The tee boxes looked great and I'm sure they will be available to use soon. The greens were quick and some nice wide fairways. I will be coming back here on a regular basis and will bring friends when they visit the area. I was playing mid-week so it was very quiet.

Lovely layout with some really good holes. Unfortunately there were a couple of temporary greens and some tees off mats already. Staff did not tell us this before play either. Greens are being hollow tined.

This course would be so good if the fairways and greens were kept up to scratch.

For under £20 this course is a must play during the summer months. Tees and fairways are not the greatest but considering the course is maintained by the council they are fine. The greens were in super condition and a joy to putt on. Staff were very friendly in the clubhouse.

Why do we not have more golf courses like this. Affordable, accessible and open to all. The course is challenging and interesting. The council staff are equal to green staff at a premium private club. I would imagine it is a better summer course than a winter one

Nice course tee off and greens not brilliant but I’m sure as the summer goes on they will get better

We had a tee off at 11am but the tee time was changed to 11:30 apparently they can do that

So we tee’d off at 16.10 and left the course after 9 holes at 19.03 as the 2 four balls in front of us where VERY SLOW and when we see them waiting to tee off on the 10th we decided to call it a day. Paid for 18 holes but don’t think we’d have got 14 holes in at the rate it was anyway. Normally we can get around in 4 hours for 18 so frustrating really.

Really nice to be back at the muni. Haven’t played for a while but REALLY glad the council have taken it back. Looks great and in good condition. Well done to all that have worked on it.

I like this course a lot, good to see work being done to course to help the drainage, especially on the greens, however, the fairways are too muddy, not boggy just muddy.

Greens are normally very good, and I’m sure the upcoming spring maintenance will get them tip top again. Can’t wait to come back, might wait until warm weather comes back.

Nice course, long holes for a newbie but the condition of the course helps even with the wet and cold we've had recently. Pretty clear layout and all round good to play. Will definitely be back.

A really good course. Was a little boggy but expected for this time of the year. Great value for money. Not an easy course with some great holes and long par 4'. Can't wait to play again

Good course. Speed of play good, Course in good condition. Couple of areas with a lack of drainage (12th quite wet underfoot). But an enjoyable round. I will be back

Always been a top layout just lacks tlc

We haven’t played here for nearly 2 years as didn’t feel like money was being put back into the course but we could see the difference. Would play again most weekends as long as the weather is good. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to challenge themselves as playing really well now.
