Southampton municipal course
A really good course. Was a little boggy but expected for this time of the year. Great value for money. Not an easy course with some great holes and long par 4'. Can't wait to play again
Lovely challenge
Good course. Speed of play good, Course in good condition. Couple of areas with a lack of drainage (12th quite wet underfoot). But an enjoyable round. I will be back
Southampton muni
Course was very wet & football boots would have been more apt on the fairways
greens very slow but fairly true
Always been a top layout just lacks tlc
In great condition
We haven’t played here for nearly 2 years as didn’t feel like money was being put back into the course but we could see the difference. Would play again most weekends as long as the weather is good. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to challenge themselves as playing really well now.
Poor
There is No fairways and the greens are terrible and you have to hit off Mats might swell have no bunkers as there's no sand in them needs a lot of work
Great value
This is a very good value for money course and has a very relaxed feel during the week. There are some very challenging par 4s and a couple of very nice par 3s. The greens are okay and the fairways are acceptable. The long rough is nowhere near as long as it used to be so much less time searching when a tee shot goes wayward, this is a big improvement.
Course has nice long holes
Good course to play - nice long holes to test your golf - I’d like to play again maybe more in the spring or summer when greens and fairways have hardern up as some greens you had to putt hard to get near hole - overall though looking forward to going back and playing again.
Hidden gem
I doubt for the money you can play a better course anywhere, the condition given the time of year was excellent, the only blip was the condition of some of the tee boxes, otherwise it was immaculate. Great layout, great value, great afternoon!!
Great value for money
Played here with my wife on our way down to Poole and found it very enjoyable. Course is recovering from very hot summer followed by 3 day deluge so was pleasantly surprised by state of course. Bunkers awful but playable, greens slow but very manageable and fairways good. Layout allows you to open your shoulders from the tee and greens very receptive. Very little rough so allows for good scoring if you keep it straight. For £14 I can’t believe anyone could find it less than enjoyable.
Wont find better
Played this course after several horrendous rain storms, so much so that a lake had appeared in front of 12th.
Greens were very wet with some ponding.
So here's the thing,, all things considered the course had handled the downpours well and was still very playable. The variety of holes and mixture of short ish and long par 4a makes this a challenge but gives a chance to golfers of all abilities. The layout is outstanding, I've played all around the world and comparing parkland courses, this is right up there. If you dont enjoy this course you might need to consider a different sport, it is top draw. And here's the real kicker, with booking fee, £18 a round, at a weekend!!!!
You quite simply cant find better value anywhere.
Hope I get chance to play again in dryer conditions.
A enjoyable and challenging course with the back nine tougher, standout hole par 3 17th
Could be great
The layiout and potential of this course is great but the condition was poor! The tee boxes were dirt on most, fairways dry and bare in places and greens in poor condition
Beautiful golf course
Lovely well maintained course. It’s improved since I last played here in 2012. We had a two-ball 8:30 tee-off, pro shop guy was friendly and chatty. Course wasn’t busy. We made it round in 3:15mins! Good play I expect!
The course was in great shape with lots of gentle up and downs, with a couple of really exciting plateau holes. I found the greens on both thankfully! A couple of the teeing areas were bare but probably due to tree cover, importantly though (and many other clubs could take note) they were nicely flat.
I would recommend and will certainly not leave it another 8 years before I return. KD
Challenging Municipal!
Good Value for money municipal course hidden in Southampton.
A Driving range but you supply your own balls.
Friendly Staff and Bowlers eatery offing good selection of well priced snacks and food, and beers / drinks. Tee boxes and fairways need some love but the greens good for a municipal course.
A good courseall in all, some challenging holes!
