Great Course, Beautiful Holes
The course layout was good, some beautiful holes with great views and features. Found the pace of play to be perfectly fine, i was a solo ball and didn't feel held up once. The only issue was finding the car park on my first visit as google maps takes you to the wrong side of the stadium so be aware of that.
Good challenging holes, great greens but not a good day.
The holes themselves are good and challenging with lots of undulation to make it a good challenge, and the greens were immaculate and lightning fast! But the fairways needs much better grass coverage it's so patchy, which wirh how dry it is makes it basically hitting off dirt all the time. Even with preferred lies in place you can't really drop onto a better lie as it's all the same. Although the greens were good, the green side area again are patchy and a bit messy.
Annoying that it's an out and back so you don't get near the clubhouse you just get further and further until you start coming back from the 16th.
Pace of place was horrendous, a 4 ball with 2 buggies was just holding everyone up, 3 hole gap infront of them. No marshalls or staff though would see unless they drive around because you're so far form clubhouse they can't see when a severe hold up is created.
Beautiful course great staff
Great course well maintained and friendly staff unfortunately play was a little delayed due to the women’s open
Pace of play is ridiculous
Played here 7 times now and the fastest round has been 4hours 50mins average is just over 5 Longest being 6 hours. Tee times are way too close together almost makes it unbearable to play. It's a sub 6000 yard course it should be taking 4 hours tops. If this can be resolved and once the new layout is introduced which will be soon its a decent course with good greens. Members tell me it's near impossible to get tee times competing with hotel guest. Has all the potential to be good just being over booked with 6min tee time gaps
Awful state
Ironically we had two starters both mention repairing pitchmarks, pitchmarks were the least of their worries.
Tee boxes were fine to be fair.
Fairways, I would say patchy but that wouldn't be doing it justice, There was barely any grass coverage, vast areas of just mud.
Greens, perhaps it was maintenance week recently, but the greens were almost as bad as the fairways.
You can't want to play golf this much, do yourself a favour and have a day off.
Great Course, not yet compete but still very enjoyable
Lots of fantastic holes, very challenging,
Gets backed up at the same point every time we play, probably due to being in the 2nd of 3 layout changes with the extensive (and great) works that are going on.
It’ll be fantastic when it’s finished, one of my top 3 layouts locally.
Lots of singles out seemingly every time we visit which also means you get chased a lot, and again factors into the pace, with lots of groups letting individuals play through.
Slow, building site
Firs time playing here, was recommended by friends. Was waiting on every tee seems like the course was packed. Looked like there's a lot of changes to the course, which haven't held up well in the weather. Very wet and muddy; wouldn't play here again until the course has been improved/renovated, and in dryer weather.
Enjoyable
Many thanks to all the staff on & off the course, we had a very enjoyable round
Potential to be great.
Lots of work going on to improve the course, I’m sure in the future this will be a great golf course. Our over all experience on the day was poor due to the lack of course management, the play in front was so slow that after the 9th we decided to call it a day. 2.5 hours on the front and a queue on the 10th. Hoping to return and have a better day out on the course.
Never Again!
We had played this course in the prior April, which had followed an exceptionally wet Winter/Spring period, and we had really enjoyed the experience, which is what had led us to return for another round. However, we couldn't understand why the course was so muddy this second time, and I mean questioning whether it should have been open at all, because I don't consider recent rainfall to have been to of any significant level. I think the course must have major problems with drainage, especially as it was even very boggy in the higher areas of the course, we suspected a heavy clay soil type to be a contributory factor.
In addition, the course was still in the process of some major landscaping changes, and there were some changes to the hole layout. The most noticeable difference is a signicant distance between finishing on one green and walking extraordinary lengths to the next tee. This seemed to add greatly to the overall length of the course and the time required to play a round. Also, and very annoyingly, GPS hole layout postions were not up to date, which meant my Garmin watch information was not only irrelevant, but very difficult to record scoring.
It was a far cry from a relaxing golf day out!
Keep it updated!
Course has always been a tough track. But it doesn’t help when they don’t give you hole maps at each tee so you know where to hit it!!! Very frustrating! Was very boggy also.
