Tough track !
This is a challenging golf course despite the course rating. Physically demanding and a lot tougher than it looks on the scorecards. Played very slow today but probably due to some hotel guests about four groups ahead of us. We'll worth trying when it gets a bit drier.
Disappointing.
Arrived at course, checked in then told no trollies unless using hedgehog wheels. Unfortunately my bag is a trolley bag and is pretty bulky. No mention of being able to hire a trolley with hedgehog wheels so humped the bag around til the 8th and then had to walk in which in itself wasn’t easy. Not sure why trollies weren’t allowed as plenty of paths to stick to. Hey ho. Pity it wasn’t mentioned on the booking site re the trolley ruling.
Frustrating
If you were to redesign a course why would have it so golfers walk straight into the tee box of the next hole. Between 7-8 and 9-10 you end up standing in the driving line waiting for the tee box to clear before then walking up or walking up whilst those teeing off wait for you. All this does is delay everyone. This coupled with an extremely slow society day in front meant for an extremely frustratingly slow game of golf resulting in waiting at every tee box for several minutes with no marshall in sight to encourage quicker play. Everyone we spoke to behind them were disappointed in the pace with some even walking in early. Considering the amount of rain we’ve had recently the course was in a relatively good condition with the expected patches of bogginess in some areas but the greens were superb and a credit to the green keepers.
lovely track, accommodated 9 of us at midday Friday, bit of slow play due to a match play teed off in front but the reaction of members seemed to think that was not a regular occurance. Bit wet in places due to the recent weather but some of the best greens i have played on. Well worth the £
Terrible conditions
The course should not have been opened. Course conditions were boarder line Dangerous, let alone barely playable. Signage was terrible, and with long walks between holes, navigating from hole to hole was a nightmare. The work they have done in reshaping the course is still very much evident, and I'm not sure has made any benefit to the course. It was a shame as we were really looking forward to playing the course. Clubhouse was closed when we arrived back which was also disappointing. Staff in the pro-shop were very helpful and friendly.
Great course but Disappointed
Looking for a 18 hole membership, so decided to try this course. Been here 4 or 5 times now (Nov to Jan) to see the course while it’s open during winter conditions. And I have to say each time as a single player, how slow the play is and on this occasion I played the last two hole’s in dark conditions. So I will say this
Positives
Great course (would have liked to play it in the summer)
Staff helpful and friendly
Price (would choose this course over similar priced courses)
Open, with all the ice and cold conditions when other courses were closed
Negatives
Parking, if you cannot park near the shop then expect a 5 to 10 minute walk to course
Slow play, too many players with the range finders and electric trolley types (range finders on the Par3 151y seriously)
Hate to think how busy/slow it would be in the summer (I have played on different day’s as well)
So I found this course a great challenge and it’s only going to get better, but the wannabe Rory’s and Tigers let it down. I will be playing elsewhere in future which is a shame as I like the course
Interesting and challenging
Enjoyable round for all 6 of us that played. Course seemed to have coped well with the weather and was in good condition for time of year. Holes where interesting and challenging right to the end and kept you interested. My only issue was the layout. It's a hilly course anyway but the walks between holes where long. That wouldn't put me off playing there again.
Very disappointing
What can I say other than this is a poorly run course. The pro in the shop was useless, slap a smile on it......
The course conditions were very poor and the pace of play was terrible. Walked in from the 14th as it was just so busy......
Good Course
Great Course and well kept, irrespective of winter weather, the majority of the course was off the normal tee boxes with only a few playing of relocated mats, got to say the new layout is fantastic, we played in between Christmas and new years so was quite busy, took us 4.5 hours to get round. We paid circa £25 each which felt like good value and totally justified given the course… naturally it’s quite a new course with a new layout this year so over the next few you will see a lot more of the intended shrubbery and hazards also start to properly bed in and develop. I will say that I have looked to play this during the summer and the cost is quite a lot more… really anything over £45 seems a bit steep for any course in the area in my opinion and starts to become unjustifiable, though the excess of daylight means you could probably find a deal somewhere, you just need to get the timings to work with friends.
Slow play ruined the day, won't be coming back
Course layout was spot on, members were friendly and chatty but took us nearly 5 hours as a two ball.
Tried to book a 2 ball online and couldn't be accepted so called to get on. Took the booking over the phone and then charged an inflated rate and didn't advise any of this, tried to explain all issues to pro shop but didn't show any interest or acceptance. Speaking to members they have also expressed frustrations with pace of play advising it regularly takes around 5 hours for a round.
Lovely Course
First time at Boundary Lakes and was very impressed by the course condition considering recent heavy rain. After playing some other local corses recently, it totally surpassed all with its condition.
If it plays this well in December i can only imagine how good this course is in drier conditions
Great course
Amazing course, very hilly and a tough course
Great Course, Beautiful Holes
The course layout was good, some beautiful holes with great views and features. Found the pace of play to be perfectly fine, i was a solo ball and didn't feel held up once. The only issue was finding the car park on my first visit as google maps takes you to the wrong side of the stadium so be aware of that.
Good challenging holes, great greens but not a good day.
The holes themselves are good and challenging with lots of undulation to make it a good challenge, and the greens were immaculate and lightning fast! But the fairways needs much better grass coverage it's so patchy, which wirh how dry it is makes it basically hitting off dirt all the time. Even with preferred lies in place you can't really drop onto a better lie as it's all the same. Although the greens were good, the green side area again are patchy and a bit messy.
Annoying that it's an out and back so you don't get near the clubhouse you just get further and further until you start coming back from the 16th.
Pace of place was horrendous, a 4 ball with 2 buggies was just holding everyone up, 3 hole gap infront of them. No marshalls or staff though would see unless they drive around because you're so far form clubhouse they can't see when a severe hold up is created.
Beautiful course great staff
Great course well maintained and friendly staff unfortunately play was a little delayed due to the women’s open
