Great round in gloomy conditions
Haven’t played here for e a few years, really enjoyed the round, great variety of holes over the course,
Course is in good shape , tricky in places but very enjoyable
For a public course it’s in great shape , you do get dog walkers out and about but was not off putting in anyway, the greens are in good condition as we’re the fairways , we paid £20 each which was good value , will defo return
Course Condition
After a week of rain the course was in great condition , very playable .
No temp greens - no mats
Thoroughly recommend
Meyrick Park golf club
Played this course on and off for 20 years. Bit hilly but then the nicest courses in my view are. Obviously very dry at the moment with the weather but a good challenge.
Infested with dog walkers
Course with really interesting and, at times, spectacular layout. Unfortunately pre round warning of “maintenance” turned out to be 18 hollow tined sanded greens that were frankly unplayable. Biggest problem is however INFESTATION of dog walkers who are a danger to themselves as they roam freely wherever they fancy, obvious to golfers and golf balls, allowing their dogs to run about unchecked.
Used to really enjoy playing at Meyrick but might have to rethink..,
Very Dry and bouncy.
The staff in the restaurant were great, as was breakfast. The course was very dry and bouncy, including the greens. The pace was good, we were just under 4 hours for a 4 ball.
I would imagine the course could do with lots of rain or a lot of watering.
Highly recommended
Has a bit of a feel of some of the heathland courses of Surrey without the heather. Some excellent holes including a lovely collection of par 3’s. Greens were excellent. Not the longest of courses but some very tight driving holes make up for that. Excellent value for money and would recommend to anyone in the area.
Shocking for many reasons
Probably the slowest game ever stuck behind 6 groups of 4 alegdly was in a competition half of which couldn't hit 50 yards with driver yet would wait till next group ahead was on green before starting then spent 12 mins looking for ball what each 3mins one after another now that's taking the Mick unlucky or what? No many of mat were impossible to put tee in and if it wasn't a mat tee boxes were covered in divots and uneven we shouldn't be on down or uphill lies when teeing off and not to mention the dog walkers in middle of the fairway what a headache and this course is for the strange men in the bushes and not to forget the bunkers on hole 12 omg what a joke there's about 4 tonne in each bunker way to much for 10ft wide gunna need a bucket and spade to find ya ball lol defo not worth the high price they are asking.
Excellent winter golf
Course was in very good condition considering the time of year. Downside was some temp tees and greens but only to be expected as winter work is still ongoing.
Best course for miles
This course is fantastic. So peaceful that you would hardly believe is a middle of busy town. My personal favourite even as beginner golfer.
Good for time of year
Played during the day so course wasn’t busy, weekends isn’t worth the money they ask for this course, considering it’s winter the condition was ok, lots of trees so thousands of leaves, a few dog walkers but not as many as Queen’s Park!!!
Greens were very good and ball rolled nicely, not boggy at all , a pleasant surprise, definitely a decent course worth playing , never easy, opening hole tough too, I missed the green by 10 ft it plays longer than it is.
Will play it again soon
Match on/ slow
Course conditions are good at moment, fairways a bit rough but the trouble was there was a inter club match in, so it was soooooo slow and the club should let people know when booking that this is the situation because we can then book another course , no need for it .
Unplayable greens
We arrived and were told that there was a bit of maintenance here and there… well some temporary tees, that’s fine but the greens were heavily sanded making them almost unplayable some had about 10mm sand on them, but you are not gold this until you arrive and bring as you book on golf now , they’ve had your money already , should never have been £22 not worth that for the state of the course, £15 max … we know courses need maintenance but the price should reflect that.
Really enjoyable course
We had breakfast first, really great food. 10am tee time. We were not pushed at any time, tee spacing were very good. Course in great condition, greens were incredible and very fast. Great value for money would recommend to any golfer.
Tough little course with some challenging par 3 holes. Shame about general public walking all over course early morning with dogs running everywhere... Fairways are average to say the least but the greens are good.
Good course but does not reflect in cost
The course itself is very well kept and has very good greens but being in a public spot does not justify the cost as when you consider how much more private moors valley is and is a lot cheaper
Not Impressed
Had to play with two other people a man and woman was never told about this , there were lots of temporary tees and greens, had to pay £32 for the round in winter time which I’ve never payed that in the height of summer on this course total rip off for the condition of the course..
Good greens but that's it.
I've played here a few times over the years but always ended the round saying never again. It's basically a park with 18 greens on it.
Dog walkers and people out enjoying the sunshine on every hole (which I appreciate is their right) but it's hard to justify the cost due to the public access. There are much better courses available...
