Unfortunately this course is not a summer course.. Although efforts are made to maintain the greens the rest of the course is parched and dry as a bone.. Good drives are ruined because there's no grass to keep the ball from rolling into no man's land due to extremely undulating fairways.. Not much in the way of a golfing atmosphere. After golf facilities are shared with the gym members. Food is good though.
You can easily tell the company puts most of its finances into the health club and very little into the course..
Dog walkers are considerate but can pop up out of nowhere..
Green fees are not worth the money they they ask..
Last thing is they are a card only facility..
Great venue
Greens were excellent, consistent pace and great coverage.
Fairways were a little patchy.
Blind tee shots on 17 and 18 would have benefitted from a plan on the tee box.
Clubhouse staff were friendly and helpful.
Members on the course were friendly and informative.
There was a competition running whilst we played and some high handicappers were rather slow in front.
A couple of the holes had a variety of paths taken by local dog walkers without any real observation of it also being a golf course.
Overall a great course, played well.
Be ready for the 210yd par 3 first.
Course review
All over it is a very good course, greens are every good, trees make each hole different and difficult, the weather was cold and sunny. The other players were members and very kind in letting me through.
Play this course a couple times a year. In best condition I've seen it, fairways and greens. Staff very friendly as well
Reasonable layout, very poor quality however
The course layout is reasonable however the very key issues are that it is in poor condition all year long and members of the public, worst of all dog walkers have right of way on this course. The par 3s are truly the best part about this course particularly where there’s no need to go for the fairway at least. Greens are given as much attention as they can and roll pretty true but again, being so open you get holes dogs dig up and tyre marks from kids bikes on many of them. To top it off the par 4 and 5s are fairly short if you ask me with nothing more than irons available to use around the course. Facilities wise is a let down as the only place to go for drinks after are the gym and spa cafe where there is no true golf clubhouse and the food is very low quality.
Meyrick Park
Meyrick Park at it's newly reduced green fees is an absolute bargain. It's a great course that you need to pick your way round. We paid £22 a head which is real value for money. The greens had just been treated so were a bit wooly but at that price the greens will soon be back and so will we.
Too expensive
Ok , played this course many times .. it was £25 which is about what it’s worth , between £35/£30 is about correct so when they are charging £55/65 it’s crazy , the course is not worth that, there’s dog walkers members of public walking it, there’s always lots of tee times available I notice so wouldn’t it be worth dropping the price to a reasonable level to get more people playing it?
It’s an average course , not any different to Queen’s Park that charges far less .
Reduced Green Fee is fair price.
The Green fee was £25 due to the greens having been recently maintained and were therefore sandy. This price should remain, as outside the greens, the fairways and tee boxes are not at the standard that would justify a higher price. They are not maintained at all. £25 is fair for a course that is in very average condition and has a lot of dog walkers around which on busier days would negatively affect the pace of play. Overall a fun course with plenty of short drivable par 4s which tempt you into trying to go for it. The biggest disappointment is the poor standard of tee box and the fairways being in a state that can punish you with horrible lies after hitting good shots. Picture attached of fairway.
Great round in gloomy conditions
Haven’t played here for e a few years, really enjoyed the round, great variety of holes over the course,
Course is in good shape , tricky in places but very enjoyable
For a public course it’s in great shape , you do get dog walkers out and about but was not off putting in anyway, the greens are in good condition as we’re the fairways , we paid £20 each which was good value , will defo return
Course Condition
After a week of rain the course was in great condition , very playable .
No temp greens - no mats
Thoroughly recommend
Good for time of year
Played during the day so course wasn’t busy, weekends isn’t worth the money they ask for this course, considering it’s winter the condition was ok, lots of trees so thousands of leaves, a few dog walkers but not as many as Queen’s Park!!!
Greens were very good and ball rolled nicely, not boggy at all , a pleasant surprise, definitely a decent course worth playing , never easy, opening hole tough too, I missed the green by 10 ft it plays longer than it is.
Will play it again soon
Meyrick Park golf club
Played this course on and off for 20 years. Bit hilly but then the nicest courses in my view are. Obviously very dry at the moment with the weather but a good challenge.
Infested with dog walkers
Course with really interesting and, at times, spectacular layout. Unfortunately pre round warning of “maintenance” turned out to be 18 hollow tined sanded greens that were frankly unplayable. Biggest problem is however INFESTATION of dog walkers who are a danger to themselves as they roam freely wherever they fancy, obvious to golfers and golf balls, allowing their dogs to run about unchecked.
Used to really enjoy playing at Meyrick but might have to rethink..,
Very Dry and bouncy.
The staff in the restaurant were great, as was breakfast. The course was very dry and bouncy, including the greens. The pace was good, we were just under 4 hours for a 4 ball.
I would imagine the course could do with lots of rain or a lot of watering.
Highly recommended
Has a bit of a feel of some of the heathland courses of Surrey without the heather. Some excellent holes including a lovely collection of par 3’s. Greens were excellent. Not the longest of courses but some very tight driving holes make up for that. Excellent value for money and would recommend to anyone in the area.
Match on/ slow
Course conditions are good at moment, fairways a bit rough but the trouble was there was a inter club match in, so it was soooooo slow and the club should let people know when booking that this is the situation because we can then book another course , no need for it .
