The course is amazing in itself, albeit not in the best of conditions. The course is open to the public and ultimately, it got to me playing golf and having members of the public walking across virtually every fairway I played.
Queens Park
Very nice course in fairly good condition. Has two holes with very steep climbs so you will feel it after a round. Played on hot day and the only water fountain I came across was broken which was only negative thing really.
Do not play weekends or bank holidays
Terrible experience. Public course so filled with kids who were throwing the flags, riding electric scooters on the green and dog poo everywhere. Might not be as bad if you can play during the week but avoid any other time! Will not be playing here again. Front 9 doesn’t finish at the clubhouse either, we were planning on walking off but had no choice but to finish.
Public Park first!, Golf course second.
Course is open to the public firstly as a park which is accessible to people with dogs, cyclists and children. Golf is secondary ,therefore if you are waiting to tee off and anybody walking their dogs can without any thought for the golfers walk across the course and you the golfer are responsible if any person gets struck by the golf ball.
Members of the public do not take any notice of the dangers of being hit by a golf ball and just walk anywhere they please. There are hidden dips on the fairways and you cannot see people when you are hitting the golf ball.
It's a dangerous course and I would recommend that you do not play here
Needs more signs warning of dangers to golfers and members of the public.
Nice to get out
Nice to get out and weather was good.
Have to say the course condition wasn't great, lots of bare patched on the fairways and even some of the greens.
Nice course to play, but not worth £30 a round, especially with the hundreds of dog walkers that don't pay any attention.
Too many dog walkers
Yes, it’s a public park but golf and a public park doesn’t mix well
Awful
Complete rip off, greens were rubbish although they had been hollow cored, played off of mats which were terrible and the fairways were also rubbish, complete waste of money as only played 14 holes also because of slow play.
A Faded Gem
You can see why this was once a great course and there is a challenge to be had here still, as well as flashes of breathtaking beauty.
Greens are true and still quite quick having been recently dressed. Many tees moved up, but understandable for the time of the year. The fairways will benefit from grass growing again. It looks like holes 3 & 4 were once played off tees long since used. Hole 16 will remind you that golf doesn't have to be a game of long to be great...
I found the dog walkers and park users charming, friendly and polite (I see others here have found it hard to coexist). Very good value for money and a warm welcome from the golf professional.
One slight concern is for the safety of those walkers using crossing paths blind to golfers (e.g. Holes 1 & 6).
A good day out.
Ruined by ignorant walkers
Once again a round ruined by ignorant dog walkers, standing right in the way , on purpose, just walking out as your taking your shot then stopping in middle of fairway, should be some code of conduct or signs , it’s getting ridiculous, that’s why I can’t recommend it, only worth what we paid , not any more and that’s even in summer !!!!
Course for Dog Walkers
Not the worst course in the world but the Dog walkers and people on the course was an absolute joke. People literally walking dog on the fairway as your about to tee off and kids shouting as your playing.
One of the best public courses around
Great course , really well kept by the local authority, and great staff in the shop and bar.
Midday 18 holes
Excellent course and despite terrible rain day before the greens were in great order. Love playing this course as challenging up hill greens really test you. Staff are excellent and great food and bar area also. Never pushed on pace of play by other golfers and everybody is polite that I have come across here.
Excellent but dangerous
Had a great day … but too many walkers to feel safe hitting driver some of the time. Also roads alongside several tee shots.
Need to be straight … my beginner partners lost a lot of balls.
Lovely layout though … condition is OK but could do with a couple more green keepers
Very quiet … lots more dog walkers than golfers.
18 holes solo round
Excellent course and challenging with very varied up and down hill holes. Liked playing this a lot and even as the rain came down it still held up well.
Great value
For a public course it's great value with some tricky holes and fine green's.
old course in centre of Bournemouth
Lovely old course with a proud history
Now spoilt somewhat by the excessive number of dog walkers. half of whom seem not to be aware they are on a golf course. there are many paths crossing the course.
However we enjoyed the round and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Very good value for money
