Course is in super condition
I played here a year ago and cannot believe the improvements the club has made to the course in the space of 12 months. The greens are superb and you can see a lot of work has taken place to improve the entire course. This is a challenging course but you don’t need to be a big hitter to conquer it. It’s a course for everyone and particularly those who think. My tip is leave the driver in your bag for half the holes.
A very enjoyable day and very welcoming staff members. Having played all the courses in the areas this is the club I have deciy to join.
Forest gem
An attractive golf course set within Epping Forest. The course is quite short but is a strategic test. The course is more about your position off the tee rather than length. The greens were true and had subtle borrows that were not always easy to read. Overall it presented a reasonable challenge and accuracy was rewarded with plenty of birdie opportunities. I will definitely come and play again.
Short course, enjoyable round, the greens and fairways in good condition
In top top condition now
I have played theydon bois a few years ago and it wasn't in great condition so didn't want to go back.
I played yesterday for £20 and it's in superb condition.
The greens are fantastic.
They have spent alot of money on new greenkeepers and it shows.
£20 on Mon and Tues is actually incredible
Well done theydon
Fantastic
Good value greens had been worked on so they were slow
Tricky little course
Monday morning
The course is in very good condition. We played the course on a Monday morning and the price was reduced to £20pp. Which is value for money. I would definitely play at Theydon Bois again.
Brain over Brawn
This is a great example of a golf course that requires brain over brawn. Great condition with super fast greens
Disgusting greens
We played here last year and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately this time the course was in really poor condition the greens were damaged and holes 15,16 and 17 were almost unplayable and we were charged £35 .
Such a shame
Such a shame, nice little course just in very poor condition in areas due to the wet weather we had earlier in the year
Avoid for a few years
The course is in poor condition due to lack of care. It will need a few years to recover. They are silly to charge people £39 a round on a weekend. It is shocking.
Animal holes on the greens which are also heavily sanded. Uneven tee boxes. Bumpy, scared fairways. The 17th is mud with lines of grass at one point.
Overall it’s a real shame, because the course layout is nice, so once the course is restored, it could be a nice challenging little course.
Do not play
Terrible course. The course is in poor condition due to lack of care. This isn’t damage from one winter. This is from years of poor maintenance.
The course design is nice and makes use for surroundings. However, the current condition and work being done, they are silly to charge £39pp! I think no more than £20-25pp as it stands.
Shocking course
Absolutely dreadful course. Worst kept golf course I’ve ever played by a MILE. The cheek to charge £30 for a round in the winter when it looks worse than a farm is as utter disgrace. WHAT A CRAP COURSE.
Great course
Brilliant day, started with a great welcome from the staff &. a lovely breakfast. Need to plot your way around the course as quite a few dog legs. Got round in 3 hours for a 2 ball.
Tricky track
Overall a lovely, tricky, fairly short track. Pull driver if you dare !!
Great Track
£25 booked through golf pass . Such a bargain, it’s has a nice seating area over looking the par 3 eighteenth, perfect for relaxing with a cold beer.
Course in poor condition, compared to last visit !
Myself & a few friends have played several courses slinger lockdown was lifted but this is by far the worst course by a country mile. We played has a hot deal at £14.50 a person but if I had paid a full green fee, I feel more aggrieved.
They can't use the lockdown as an excuse because other courses actually look better because they have had time to recover. Don't waste your money & go else where
Too wet
I am well aware it has rained a lot over the past couple of weeks. Also, I enjoy a round of golf just as much as anyone and so would rather courses be open. But, when you turn up to a golf course that is open, one assumes it is in some sort of playable state (especially being charged £27 a round for an otherwise run of the mill pay and play course).
18 winter tees (mats), 3 temporary greens and one hole completely closed which my playing partner and I were completely unaware of until we arrived at said closed hole to find a green that had been dug up, no temporary green in sight and a blank "course information" board plonked on the tee/mat. Also, large parts of the course were pure mud, fit only for a drove of pigs.
Oh, and we also followed a 4-ball contrary to government covid-19 rules at the time of playing...
Hopefully it's pretty obvious to see why we felt the green fee didn't provide value for money. Having said this, the layout of the course is good with some interesting holes. I may consider returning when the weather is better, but let's hope keeping the course open in such wet conditions doesn't do lasting damage.
Needs drainage
The course was very short muddy with lots of temporary greens ,granted it is the last week in December , lovely course in the summer tho
