Fantastic course
Extremely well maintained, loved how all around the greens were well protected all the way round and roped off. Greens in great condition for this time of year. All round great value for money and enjoyable course to play. Will definitely be back.
Great course
Very nice course, they were working on a few holes when we went (2 holes shut) and we weren't told before despite making a phone booking which annoyed me a bit but other than that a nice course
Enjoyable
6 hcap golfer. Played on 30th December. Winter tees small but in decent condition. Fairways were surprisingly good. Drainage was also good with obvious wet/boggy patches. It’s Winter and it’s England! Not much roll out obviously, but that’s a good thing on a short tight course. Greens were also surprisingly good to very good in places. As a low handicap golfer, greens are everything. Very receptive and ran true. Always a shame when lazy people don’t have the respect or tenacity to repair pitch marks, given the effort put into bringing this course to such an enjoyable condition for Essex clay during Winter. I hooked up with 2 really nice guys (Will and Chris) and we had a really nice round. John (Reeder? Manager?) was very accommodating getting me on. Thank you.
A hidden gem
What a fantastic golf course.
You look at the yardage and think it will be easy.
You have to pick the correct club and hit the right area.
Really makes you concentrate.
Good selection in a very friendly clubhouse after.
We will be back.
Theydon Bois Golf Club
This is a little hidden jem , the course is not too long but hole hole are challenging. There is a lot of dogs left and rights. the greens are true but tricky to read. this course is well looked after the members are nice and friendly. The club house has a good selection of drinks and it has a outside decking area to sit as well
Lovely summer course
I usually really enjoy playing Theydon Bois.. Unfortunately this time wasn't one of them.
The greens were in the worse condition I've ever seen them.
Ok they had been cored and sanded at some point in the last week, but they looked scruffy and hadn't been cut for over a week.
Spoiled what could have been a superb round.
Great golf course
I played this course with a mate the first time for both of us , the course was presented beautifully , it’s not a very long course but because of the layout & trees , it is a course which you have to plot your way around so keep the driver in your bag , the tees were flat & well kept , fairways well maintained , bunkers with sand in ( makes a change ) & last but not least the greens were superb , all this after 2 days of heavy rain . The staff in the pro shop & bar were very friendly & helpful , the other golfers there were also very nice & friendly , I recommend this golf course , go treat yourself I know I will be back 👍🏻
A course full of character
The club has a new crew looking after the course. Significant improvements have been made and the greens are greatly improved. The staff are always very welcoming.
Very wet and boggy
Came here for the first time. Was a nice course but drainage was awful. Soaking wet fairways and greens. I think I’d come back in the summer when it’s dried up. Some of the lads behind us walked off after 9. Overall its what you get for winter golf but just a shame about poor drainage and slow play.
I will be back
Very nice golf course, picturesque parkland layout, fairways in good condition, really enjoyed the time there
Short, tight mainly woodland course in average condition
Short, mainly woodland course with a fair number of tight tee shots. A good number of dogleg holes, fairways a little bare and muddy on the approaches to the greens, some work had been done to rectify but not yet taken. Greens themselves true if covered in tree detritus. Slow end to round due to midweek club competition.
Society Day
Held a society day at the course. Everything was perfect. Breakfast served as players arrived so was fresh. Staff were helpful and accommodating in terms of diets. There was a big society in front of us and pro shop ensured there was a big gap between us going out and them as our group was much smaller. Whist we saw the society ahead we never caught them up or were waiting on them. Corse was in good condition and all had a good day. The club has a lovely patio area to sit out on. Would thoroughly recommend for a society day out!
Course is in super condition
I played here a year ago and cannot believe the improvements the club has made to the course in the space of 12 months. The greens are superb and you can see a lot of work has taken place to improve the entire course. This is a challenging course but you don’t need to be a big hitter to conquer it. It’s a course for everyone and particularly those who think. My tip is leave the driver in your bag for half the holes.
A very enjoyable day and very welcoming staff members. Having played all the courses in the areas this is the club I have deciy to join.
Forest gem
An attractive golf course set within Epping Forest. The course is quite short but is a strategic test. The course is more about your position off the tee rather than length. The greens were true and had subtle borrows that were not always easy to read. Overall it presented a reasonable challenge and accuracy was rewarded with plenty of birdie opportunities. I will definitely come and play again.
Short course, enjoyable round, the greens and fairways in good condition
In top top condition now
I have played theydon bois a few years ago and it wasn't in great condition so didn't want to go back.
I played yesterday for £20 and it's in superb condition.
The greens are fantastic.
They have spent alot of money on new greenkeepers and it shows.
£20 on Mon and Tues is actually incredible
Well done theydon
Fantastic
Good value greens had been worked on so they were slow
Tricky little course
