NOT FOR THE BIG HITTERS!
I wished I had left my driver at home.this is a tight course where accuracy is paramount,I would definitely approach it differently if playing again.I’m not that confident with my irons so struggled here. The greens were only in fair condition but also fast, and a few had one too many unrepaired pitch marks. Also because it’s not a long course be prepared for a bit of a wait if you have a 3-4 ball in front.if some of the greens were brought up to a higher standard I can see this course being a very enjoyable experience for accurate golfers handicapped 18 and lower.
Slower than a heard of Tortoise running through peanut butter
The conditions were perfect for a Sunday session, but from the very 1st Tee it was apparent that it was gonna be a long one.
But it wasn't entirely clear until the 4th Hole when at one point there were no less than 4 groups on the same hole.
There was the group in front of me "The searchers" (searching for every ball for a good 6-8 minutes each) on the Green.
Then us, waiting approx 60yards away, watching the shenanigans.
Followed by the group that less us through on the 3rd hole already. Waiting where their 1st shots lay
Followed by the group that had been behind us. Sitting on the grass on the tee off, looking on in dismay.
The course is lovely, but some marshaling would be great on busy days. Noone wants to be the person to approach another group to let them through.
All in all - it took 4.5hours to complete our round.
Anyway summer is on the way out, so we may see the courses open up a bit more now.
Makes you think!
Far from the longest course but each shot has to be well thought out and executed well with narrow fairways and some tricky greens. Very enjoyable
Good course just
Will definitely play here again but please get some work done on them greens they really let you down.
Good Fun
This course is not all about brute force, it's more a thinking mans golf course.
Dog legs, lots of narrow tree lined fairways, and some tricky greens keeps you on your metal.
Course was in good shape, greens were well watered and a little slow as a result.
All In all it was an enjoyable round.
A welcome beer on the bar terrace overlooking the first tee & eighteenth green finished it off nicely.
Fantastic course
First time we have played Theydon Bois, fantastic course nice challenge and nice layout. Can’t wait till play again .
Great value for money
Excellent course layout
Brilliant price
Course in very good condition, greens slightly bumpy
Definitely recommend
Short and sweet
Its not the longest of courses and you can either catch it in a good condition or average conditions.
I would say its a good practise course for beginners as well as intermediate golfers if they are looking for a quick tee off on an afternoon
Nice Andy great value for money
Considering it was January the course held up well - no winter greens either. It’s a fair course and nothing too difficult going through the Forest. The 3 holes over the road are in less good condition than the rest of the course. Staff were very friendly and for a tenner I have no complaints- got around quickly and looking forward to trying it out in the summer.
Will definitely play again and seriously considering becoming a member.
Great Tight Forest Course
Played at 5pm not many on the course always a bonus. Course is short but makes up for it by being in great condition and being a real test. Due to the forest setting the course is great to look at and tight to play. This is not a smash the driver course but a pick your way around with the right club selection. If you don’t follow this advice you will get beaten up. Greens are in good condition and speed is average. Recommended and great price for twilight. Try and see.
Fantastic fairways
Brilliant evening round of golf. Quiet course in great condition. I will definitely come again.
