Tynedale Golf Club

Course was in reasonable condition but the greens need some TLC.

Nice scenic position on the banks of the Tyne - but with a public path either side of some shared fairways, not only was the pace of the game affected by other golfers, there seemed to be a constant stream of ramblers & dog walkers in your eyesight and often in driving range which was not only off-putting - but I would imagine quite dangerous at times.

No facilities were open at the time - so can’t comment on them or the staff.

Would play there again now I know what to expect.

Despite lashing rain my husband and I decided we would still drive out to Hexham to play our pre-paid round of golf.

Typed Tynedale golf club into Waze and off we set. Sadly a deadend with no sign of a clubhouse or car park!

Frustratingly there was a green area visible on the map marked golf course, but nothing to be seen in reality.

Checked the website, clicked on the map link, tried google map directions and tried sat-nav. No joy!

Tried phoning - no reply.

Emailed as we gave up, but no response 24hours later!

£20 down the drain with the rain!

Nobody in club house, fair enough, leaves everywhere, played 3 holes and walked off, the green keeper could at least clear the greens, lost 2 balls on the fairway and even 1 on the green! What’s the point in paying green fees?

9 hole course mis advertised as 18 holes I counted 8 golfers on 2nd fairway also the 3rd not including us waiting to t off unbelievable how no one is injured on a daily basis with public walking on course with kids and dogs serious golfers do not visit even for free

Not overly impressive, 8am tee off time and no staff to be seen, appeared to have people just coming on as they pleased as its in the middle of a park so basically we could have played for free, lots of walkers and dogs on the actual course. The fact the second and third hole share the same fairway isn’t ideal, the fairways are narrow and when people get their drivers out you’d best take cover, we were newly hit 4 times, was quite unbelievable actually, greens were very poor, as if someone stabbed it all over with a pitch fork so the ball bobbled all over, on or two nice holes but only good for people starting out in my opinion.

Good course nice 9 holes especially if you just want a quick round to your self

I am trying to get back to playing golf. This course is perfect for that. Good fairways and limited rough. I did not lose a ball. The fairways are reasonably shielded from each other by trees. Easy parking. It seems to be essential to book and pay online. That works ok too.

I had called at the last moment to see if I could get a tee off time. The chap I spoke to was very accommodating as informed me there was a tournament on later. He also gave me a laminated course layout which was a bonus. The course was ok. It was new to me and just wanted to get a few holes done before heading home. The play was quick as the course was quiet. The course was in decent condition for the money so can't complain. I will be back

Not a great golf course by any means...9 holes played twice and rather flat and uninspiring. However, if you live close it represents better quality practice than, for example, a driving range. Suspect if it is ever DRY, (low lying and near the river), it would play better but on the day we visited, the greens certainly need work and the fairways were in need of a cut.

Not very well layed out tried to cram 18 holes into a 9 hole course.the greens and fairways were in good condition.would maybe play again but only the nine holes.plenty of parking and good facilities.
