Stocksfield Visitors
Course was virtually empty due to weather conditions.
A long time since I had played but as enjoyable as I had remembered. Great front nine - back a little less so. Course was sodden given weather but still playable and much in very good condition.
Be patient with slow play
Very good course and kept well. The only problem is slow play causing back up and frustration at times . Got to be as patient as you can without ruining your momentum. If players would respect their fellow players it would be a lot better and play would flow. .if they know where the next tee box is why oh why do they leave their trolleys where they have to walk back to to leave the hole.
Disappointed this time
First nine holes were closed due to course being water logged
Was not made clear on booking or course . As a visitor l. was just expected to know this . This held you up and some of the members were purposely playing slow leaving their clubs on the fairway and walking back to get them and mar king cards on the green etc . Have put would recommend because I have had good times here but some of the members need to be instructed to play properly.
The best course I’ve ever played!
I don’t normally leave reviews but I simply have to for this course. The staff at the course were fantastic and super helpful, the course is also cut to perfection. Definitely be returning in the future!
Poor condition
Was excited to play stocksfield as I remembered the greens and course was excellent in past visits . Unfortunately I feel I was upset to see the course in such a state . mainly the greens very poor condition and tee boxes was like teeing off a on a meadow field . Overall wouldn’t want to play the course again for at least another month unless there were some drastic changes , be it the club has been short on green staff or weather conditions but overall course was in poor condition . Glad the day brought sunshine and hospitality was spot on with members and staff with best of kindness .
Stocksfield review
An enjoyable course, and certainly a course where you had to be 'on your game', the first few holes require accuracy and strategy off the tee. As the front nine unfolds you gradually work your way to the top area of the course from where the views are spectacular. the second nine allows you to open your shoulders. The course if fair and certainly one worth visiting
Boggy
The course was completely waterlogged it was awful. One hole was completely closed and winter greens in use without prior notification, the greens were absolutely awful. I also hated the artificial tee boxes used at some holes.
Probably a lovely course in the summer but unlikely to come back at this time of year.
Should never have been open wet wet wet
Bought this as a thank you for some friends they came of on the 12 course should have been closed
Great course
First time around this course and really enjoyed it.
Very hilly at times but worth the hard work
2 holes closed due to conditions but did not spoil the round and the very friendly staff made it a very enjoyable day
Look forward to coming back
Winter conditions but still good
Really enjoyed the round on a very muddy day. Fair play to the ground staff as considering recent conditions the course was in good nick. Only 17 holes open when we played (4th was converted to a par three and the 5th was closed) but for £10 who can complain? 100% will revisit under summer conditions as the views and layout were really good.
Friendly Course
Unfortunately when we got there it was winter greens and back 9 only. However, the staff could not have been better. Not many courses we’ve played at that we have had such a warm welcome as first timers there. The other players we came across on the course that day were good crack too.
Will definitely be going back once the weather improves.
Good back 9
Excellent value for money for winter golf.
Front 9 very wet with temporary greens and tees in places.
Back 9 great for this time of the year.
Club house staff friendly
Nice course, shame about the temp greens
A course of two halves. The first 9, apart from the 1st, are tight amongst the trees. The second 9 are far more open. Interesting holes, not overly long, some undulations to be aware of.
I've played here before and would normally, at this point, advise how good the greens are. Unfortunately, on this occasion there were multiple temporary greens so we couldn't confirm this time. Here lies the disappointment. I understand the use of temporary greens but if they are on then advise people on the club website, fb page or when booking via GN. Anyone thinking of booking now, phone first to check. Oh yes, one hole was closed as well, no notification about that either.
Friendly clubhouse.
All in all, a decent place to play. Just make sure the course if fully in play first of all.
Just picked a bad time to play
We picked a bad time to play .the front nine was closed because of wet conditions the back nine should be closed as just as bad. It would pay to check course conditions before you pay as not worth the money as yet. Every cloud has a silver lining as we had fantastic Sunday lunch in the club house. I think there should be some sort of refund if half the course is closed and the other just a swamp just my opinion
I can't give a review as course was closed due to weather, i have tried to get refund but golf now won't answer my email and the phone number doesn't let you proceed as i dont have a membeship number
Good value for money
Played 2nd Nov for £9 . Course was quiet and a challenge - the greens were very wet , so chipping had to be on the flag or very short!. First 9 is enclosed by trees but consequently forces you to think . Second nine you can be more brave with the driver..Enjoyed the course
