Brilliant
Played Monday morning. Fairways well defined. Greens although recently top dressed where excellent. Good pace and true.
Members very friendly. Several groups let us through..
Not too hard but beware some Holes you need to plot. You cannot just smash the driver.
Staff very friendly.. especially the lady in the pro shop who signed us in.
Great course amazing views
This is one of the best courses I have played. Interesting holes proves a course does have to be long or full of water hazards to be interesting. What makes it so good is that it seems to fit naturally in its surroundings, it doesn't look manufactured. There are also no compromise holes the ones squeezed in that are short flat and uninteresting. The final holes are a real treat.
If you go to the lakes it's a must play.
Always a privilege
I live 65 miles away from this course but travel as often as I can for the privilege of playing this gorgeous golf course.
An interesting course - worth a visit
I played the course with my wife on a drizzly, cool Wednesday in July. I play off 9, my wife off 24. She found it tough, I found it moderate although the last few holes needed some thinking.
A warm welcome from the Pro shop. An easy 1st tee off and indeed the first 2 holes were quite easy. A few blind drives but good marker posts to help; no blind shots into greens which was good.
The course is definately a Parkland set up, and the semi-rough\ rough was wet so tricky. Probably OK when it has had a few days of dry weather.
Overall a very nice layout. I liked it but maybe the 39 points helped Grrens were in good condition. Some nice views on the last 2 or 3 holes.
Excellent Course
WOW - what can I say? From start to finish this was a great experience. The pro shop was really friendly and welcoming, explaining that we’d be paired up with 2 more people into a 4-ball - not an issue in the slightest. The course was in immaculate condition - all aspects. The green staff obviously do an excellent job. The layout was great too, with various changes in elevation. Just a pity our golf wasn’t up to much. The two guys we played with were great company. I will certainly be playing here again. Thanks
Excellent course
The greens were excellent would recommend and we got the round for a great price will definitely go back
Good but very tough course
The course was in very good condition with some spectacular views over the estuary but extremely tough. It was very breezy when we played which made added a lot to the difficulty. It would suit a low handicapper as a lot of the holes played long in the wind. Not sure would I would return due to the difficulty but enjoyed the experience.
I wish I lived closer
A beautifully postitioned course in excellent condition. Members, greens staff and clubhouse are very friendly. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to play when visiting family.
Wowzers
What an experience.
Lots of locals on the tee on arrival who all made us feel very welcome.
Course was in superb condition from tee to green on every hole.
And what holes they are !
No getting away from the 17th signature hole and the 18th views.
After round awe again had locals asking how we found it and recomnending other courses.
When back in the lakes this will be 1st booking !
Fantastic course, brilliant greens
Played here last week and the greens were just fantastic. Improved on previous visits. The whole course is a pleasure to play. Testing conditions, that still allow you to play and make a decent score. Never a dull moment playing here. Great clubhouse and pro shop. Recommend for anyone local or visiting away. Although a little pricier than other local corses you get what you pay for.
Unfortunate weather
Unfortunately the night before we played was clear and cold so when we arrived at the pro,s shop we were informed that we were on temporary greens. This was disappointing but understandable, the course itself is very well kept with a lot of very well designed holes and was a pleasure to play. We will definitely come back and play again, maybe even this summer when the views over Morcambe bay will hopefully be spectacular.
Wonderful course with magical Lake District views
Course is ok without being too challenging for the handicap golfer. Could be tough for amateurs as it is long with some challenging holes. #5, #17 #18 in particular are challenging and also visually spectacular. I played twice during the week. 1st time got around in 2 1/2hrs but had to abandon back 9 2nd time around even though I teed off at 4:10pm. A group of slow golfers ahead..
Book through tee off times to get a deal since you would end up paying less than the usual over the counter fee of £40. Enjoyable, challenging enough to keep the golf nerd interested and the scenery is magical
Ulverston has a signature hole
Ulverston's signature hole remains a real challenge. If your shot off the 17tb tee is not high enough you hit the cliff face. The recent rain resulted in very little fun making quite a difference to conditions a week ago. It remains a really nice course to play and the staff are very friendly.
Ulverston Golf course
The staff were very friendly and aware of the booking. The players before us were also very friendly and made us feel welcome. The course has some challenges not the least being the 17th where you have to hit up the cliff face. However the greens were excellent considering the dry weather. Recommended.
great experience
plenty of interest, good layout which made finding the tees without a map relatively easy, greens in surprisingly good condition considering the exceptionally dry weather
