Great course
This was my first time playing the Brentwood after I was recommended it by a few friends. I'm a higher end handicap player and found the course challenging but also immensely rewarding. Plenty of hazards to make the holes interesting too. Club house and pro shop were both welcoming, well stocked and the food was brilliant (BBQ was available due to an event that day).
A great variety of holes.
A mixture of parkland, open fairways, water features, hills and of course bunkers. A true test of golf in stunning surroundings. Great to see deer and ducks.
Very friendly helpful staff on the course and in the 19th.
Will definitely recommend and return
Hidden Gem
A friend recommended, came as a 4 ball, none of us had played Brentwood before, it’s half an hour away from my home!
Really good game, I played ok, challenging course, stunning views, lots of improvements going on around the course, we followed a members seniors match, a little slow, but overall didn’t hinder us.
Clubhouse, staff even though busy, made effort with our group, food was hot, swift and tasty and selection of drinks and bar snacks were just right.
Definitely booking again
Get better everytime
Been a few months since I played Brentwood, and it’s just getting better with every visit, The club are carrying out work on the course, great to see, Greenkeepers were helpful and informative about the changes, can’t wait to see the new & improved bunkers, we walked it this time and the views are just stunning! It’s hard to find negatives…… the practice nets need a little tidy up but overall Brentwood is in my opinion one of the best by far in Essex to play, challenging for sure and definitely one of the friendliest, From arrival in booking in to eating and drinking, it’s faultless.
Keep it up Brentwood.
Great Friending Course
Arrived early, the course has a great putting green and practice nets, The Course layout was clear with signs for all the next tee's, some blind shorts with challenge bunker and water hazards. Thank you.
A challenging golf course for the average golfer
The course layout means you have to think very carefully about the course and ways to play it. The pace of play was very slow on the day but that was largely due to older players ahead and a very hot day.
Good challenging course
First time playing this course and really enjoyed it. Great layout with plenty of challenges for all levels of player. Well maintained with good, sometimes fast, greens. The only slightly negative thing was that the practice nets could do with a freshen up. Went round with someone that had played here before which helped navigating the course: Probably should've bought a course booklet but a map of the course on the scorecard would've helped. We all enjoyed playing here and we will definitely play here again soon.
Nice course, but consistently slow pace.
I regularly enjoy playing this course but like others I talk to find the pace of play to be slow.
It might help to have a Marshall keeping an eye on things.
Becoming One of my Favourite Essex courses
This is far becoming one of my favourite courses to play in Essex, on each visit the course is improving! Even with how the weather has been of late, so impressed with the standard of work being carried out all round the course,
Well done everyone at Brentwood GC,
Great course
Course was recommended by a friend, so I thought I’d give it a try. First time playing at Brentwood today & I can say I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The course has a great layout, the greens are in good order and it was great value for money.
I had lunch in the golf bar & the food was so lovely and fresh.
The staff were all very friendly & polite.
I will definitely be returning and would really recommend BGC to others.
Great layout
As always a lovely course to play (friend was a member for years ) bit scruffy and patchy atm some areas need a good cut ,greens didn't look that great but ran ok im sure with some more decent weather and a bit of TLC it will get back to its best , bunkers do need a bit of attention and some were out of play (GUR)
Deceptively challenging
A hidden gem in Brentwood and sadly my game wasn't up to standard for this difficult, but beautifully laid-out course. The only disappointment was playing off tee boxes for every hole as they protect the course from recent wet conditions, but playing to handicap here is a great challenge, and I will try again.
Great course and really good value for money as a a visitor
This course has a great mix of testing holes with lots of traps, hazards and variety. One thing that really stood out was just how friendly and approachable all the members and other players on the course were.
I was playing as a one ball and a two ball swapped their tee time with me to get me out in front of them and a four ball. When I then caught up another four ball they waited on the next tee for me to finish a par 3 to let me through. Another four ball then waved me through from the fairway straight afterwards and had a nice conversation with me up the fairway making me feel very welcome.
It was damp in areas, especially at the bottom of the various hollows and valleys the course crosses which meant you had to drop somewhere dry to play but considering the weather the course was in good condition. It did seem like a group of members or a tournament had played earlier in the day (I tee'd off at 3pm) and the greens had really suffered with lots of unrepaired pitch marks. This was one small downside to what was otherwise a very enjoyable round at a great course.
I would definitely play again and am considering becoming a member here as for the area it is a stand out course in terms of facilities, friendliness and price.
Could become my go to course
Had to return after my last visit, not the clubs fault but a couple of us hit some traffic on route that was going to mess our tee time up, quick call to club and they moved us back 👏🏻. And with enough time to have a bacon roll and tea in the clubhouse.
Great conditions, weather was lovely, you can see as you play the course the work the greenkeepers are doing, greens in great condition 👌🏼, my game wasn’t all that, but overall another great 18holes at Brentwood.
Finished off back in the clubhouse for a pint of Guinness, and more food, great selection to choose from. chose the omelette this time and once again faultless, and that Bacon Roll 👌🏼👌🏼
Keep it up Brentwood
Society Day
First time visiting Brentwood GC, society day, from arriving in the clubhouse the staff were brilliant, we had the food package, Full English was one of the best I’ve had, and I’ve had a few!! Well organised. Off to the course, pro on hand with tips, really helpful and a great sale in the shop too!
I’d heard it was a great course to play and yes, challenging it was, we completed in just under 4 hrs, the course was busy with members and another society but this didn’t cause issues.
Back in the clubhouse for more food! Great menu, Club sandwich and chips, recommend this. Bar team spot on, friendly, chatty, lovely staff all round. Will look to go again soon.
Poor condition
Greens really long, full of damage. They have let buggies and trolleys on the course so it has damaged the grass with lots of areas basically mud. Couldn’t find a bit of grass to play off of in some areas. Why are buggies allowed out in the middle of winter? The edges of greens are trashed through trolley traffic. Bunkers absolutely unplayable, weeds, ruined by rain, no effort to rake them after rain. Wasn’t happy at all. Staff friendly and clubhouse sufficient, certainly wouldn’t play it again until some care is put in to it. It’s not like the old Brentwood I used to play.
