Fun course for all abilities
Course is a lot of fun, some really cool holes, from the 1st over a mini valley, to the 12th with a high tee position. Lots of challenge but never feels unfair. Course was in really good condition overall, some of the tee boxes looked a little worse for wear but was only really noticeable because the rest of the course was excellent.
Beautiful views as you head out to the end of the front 9 and through the back 9. Glimpses of the Wensum course encourage you to go round that one straight away.
Driving range however is shockingly poor, mats worn down to being completely smooth, terrible balls, not many targets or distance aids. Stops it short of being an exceptional experience. Shop is a good size and well stocked but on the expensive side. Bar was reasonably priced but very dated.
Definitely somewhere you come for the course rather than the facilities.
A great choice of two courses
Have to very different courses this a great place to play. There is the Valley which is the most expensive. This has some tricky greens and challenging tee shots and think has narrower fairways than the sister course called the Wensum is perhaps a bit more forgiving until you reach the lower part of the course and water means there are some tricky tee shots. The terrace has lovely views and the bar is extensive. Facilities and the course are all ways well presented and staff in the bar and pro shop are friendly. A great venue for golf.
Fantastic course
Course in great condition played here many years ago and still very good on the Valley course. Some really fantastic holes. I would recommend this to anyone. Staff were great too.
Condition
The course is in such good condition considering the time of year and the weather we have been having in Norfolk, I have played there many times but it was a first time for my guests and they really enjoyed the day, we had a lovely Blt before we went out and that was soo goo too,
Thank you to all the staff who were so friendly and welcoming from the pro shop to the waiting staff.
Thanks again
Lovely course
Lovely course. Well laid out. Fairly thick grass before you get to the fairway and can easily lose a ball. Good facilities in the bar area. Will go back again
Should be the best facility in the area
Played both courses a number of times. Both courses are always well priced whether through golf now or direct. Both courses challenging in their own right. Wensum is a little longer and the recent changes make it a better course to play overall when the stretch around the water used to be almost impossible to play.
The big downfalls this course have at the moment are the courses in general, in particular the greens. They are in poor condition. given the weather this year and the great condition of other courses in the area this course is lagging behind significantly. The next big let down is the driving range. The balls are over way overpriced in general, The condition of the balls are an embarrassment. so many with gashes/chunks out of them. The mats are poor. No sign of Trackman or more modern facilities most ranges provide. It's quite frankly the worst driving range i've ever hit on which given the size of the facility is baffling.
The setting of these courses and the facility in general should be the envy of the county....it's not. It's such a shame. I don't think it takes a great imagination or investment to make this facility what it could be and i hope to see someone do it sooner rather than later. I can't wait to think £25 per round is good value and not the £12 paid this time.
Value for money
For the price it was an absolute steal!
Great course, condition was good considered the dry patch we’ve had, greens ran true
There was a women match out ahead of me but I was hardly held up at all
Highly recommended especially at the price you get from here
Overbooked
Sadly we had a ridiculously slow round this week. 4 hours 47 minutes for a compact and relatively short course. As a Hotel / Golf Course complex they had clearly booked several large groups and set them off too close together. 8 minute intervals for these is too little.
Greens were also bumpy and needed some TLC.
We've played this course in the winter and had a positive experience.
My comment would be best avoided during the peak summer period.
Great coarse.
Great coarse. Greens a little hard but overall, a really lovely place to ruin a nice walk
