Do NOT pay this course
The conditioning has been poor for awhile. Obvious from the quality of the entire course.
However the 6+ hour round was completely avoidable. Only 9 holes open. From the other reviews this has been the case for awhile. NO notice in golf now about this. As we made the turn they started a single, double, and sixsome ahead of us! A course that understands how to run a 9 hole, would never have done that.
So do NOT pay this course. Much better for for the same money is nearby.
Unfortunate timing.
It was over-seeding time. One nine was closed so I played the other one twice and saw how badly the greens need the over-seeding work. On the plus side it was only $33 and there was no one else around.
Should have read reviews. But the course has potential.
Played Marsh twice because other 9 was just over-seeded and was closed . Paid $40. I didn’t expect much given prices in the area. I had played 3 other courses in the area that were beautiful but significantly more $$. I thought I would give this course a chance. You never know. When we pulled in there were 2 or 3 cars in the lot - I knew pace of play wouldn’t be a problem. Staff in dated clubhouse/pro shop was very friendly. They probably feel bad knowing what is to come. Didn’t charge my son in law for rental clubs. It is a nice layout winding through an older but nice community. Challenging but fair with some nice views. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the course is unplayable. The course is mostly dirt and sand with patches of grass, some green, a lot brown. The “greens” are mostly dirt. I think only one green had what I would consider grass. I should have read reviews. It would be neat to see this course restored. It could be a gem but needs a lot of $$ and TLC. As it is, I would avoid unless you really don’t care about course condition.
Poor conditions
Booked for 18 holes Only the back nine was open.
Decided to play as we’d driven 30mins.
Golf Now did not have notification of the closed 9
Course is in terrible shape , particularly the greens.
Take a pass on this one at this time of year
Disappointed
Have played here a few times over the years but don't remember the course being in this poor of condition. Wanted to attribute it to the season but course we played the day before for the same price was in much better shape. Many of the greens; particularly on the Bay 9 were almost bare and all putts were bumpy, no true roll. Would not bother coming back unless there was significant improvement.
A beautiful day for golf!
I golfed at the Bluewater Bay Golf Course today and we had a great time. A beautiful setting with many of the fairways and greens on the Bay or Ponds with sunny skies. They have made a lot of improvements over the last couple of months and can tell they are working hard on the course. I understand the golf course is under new management and Iit shows. My friends and I are looking forward to returning in the near future!
Brown and browner
Greens were brown
Tee boxes were browner
You get what you pay for
Rental clubs had not been cleaned for many rounds
Could be a good course to play in another couple of years.
Great layout but...
I really liked the layout and the friendliness of the staff but the course is currently in terrible shape. Did not bother to putt on most holes. Fairways were lean but OK.
Four Play
Us four old retired folks try and get out once a week and play best ball. This course needs work both in the fairways and greens. We had a great time playing the course. Will play again when the conditions are better.
Got What We Paid For
Course was in rough shape but they are clearly working on improving course conditions. Greens were biggest outlier which aligns with all the reviews read before booking tee time. It served great purpose for me bringing my wife out who is not very good. Pretty slow which allowed us to take our time and we had lot of fun. Perfect course for the situation with lower price and less pressure to play fast. The service was outstanding, super impressive. You can just tell there is a vision for this course and it will be great place to play in few years. Enjoying the discount golf while I can!!
Do not play her.
Course should be closed. Worst greens and fairways i have ever seen. Do not play here.
Take me back 15 years
As someone who used to play here often 10-15 years ago it’s really sad to see the state of this course now. It used to be an excellent 27 hole course in a beautiful community with many views of the bay and memorable holes throughout. Today, 9 holes have closed, which happened to be my favorite 9, The Lakes Course. Now we are left with Marsh and Bay courses which are still good tracks, however the state of the course is just plain bad.
The course is like 40% green. The tee boxes are mostly dirt, the FWs are patchy between grass and dirt, and the greens are absolutely atrocious, mostly dirt, and where there is grass it’s more than likely to change the direction of your ball and make it hop around. The best roll you can get is on the packed dirt parts of the greens, otherwise it’s a hope and a prayer your balls goes where you hit it.
Truly sad to see this course in the shape it’s in. For $35 I didn’t feel completely bamboozled and the staff was courteous and the carts appeared to not have governors as it was super fast, which was nice.
Overall, don’t expect to log a true round of golf here as the putting alone will cost you a lot of strokes. I can get past bad tee boxes and patchy FWs if the greens are ok, but here they are unplayable. They have a lot of work to do here before I would recommend anyone play this course.
Bluewater Bay Golf Club
First off, the staff was very friendly and the course layout was good. However, the course’s conditions were very sub par. The fairways were like playing on a packed down beach with a little grass on them. The greens were an embarrassment for the owners. The greens were so rough that a 12 foot putt would bounce in 3 different directions. It’s a shame because the course’s layout provides many great views of the pin with the bay directly behind them. A lot of holes are open enough to offer a lot of forgiveness. To get to #1’s of both courses you have to drive the cart almost a 1/4 mile from the clubhouse. It’s half the cost of many courses in this area so the conditions explain that.
Bulewater Bay
The greens were horrible! The pace of play was even worse. Unfortunately lost a repeat customer after playing there for years!
Fun little neighborhood course
Nice course meandering through the trees. Need a lot of work on the greens. Good value for the dollar if you don’t mind some poor greens. I would recommend for the under $40 per round crowd.
