Brentwood
Small course but not easy, course is in good conditions. It's a 9 hole course so it can get a little backed up. Never had a bad time here.
Fair Course
The price was right for 18 on a Sunday morning. It was about what you would expect for a 9 hole course in this part of town. The greens were great but the tee boxes were downright atrocious, even with golf spikes we were slipping on our drives which was very frustrating. Time for a renovation of tee boxes
Tee boxes need help!
This course is for the budget minded golfer that just wants to get out and play some golf. The tee boxes are suffering however and need help. The fairways are very playable for the most part. The greens roll good but they suffer from unrepaired ball divots. Is there such an emphasis on speed of play these days that taking 30 seconds to repair your ball divot and maybe another is just a thing of the past? Despite these issues I think this course is still a good value for the price.
"Do I have to call the Police?" LOL what?
Before reading this, let me just state that I know this course is "budget" golf and I know what to expect based on that fact. Knowing that, draw your own conclusion from my experience:
After getting out of work early, I bought a twilight tee time on golf now at 5:20...Mind you the description on Golf now says this place is open until dusk, so I figured I would be able to get most of 18 before then (Sunset 8:00).
Unfortunately, the general organization here is pretty poor which made that pretty much impossible. They have tee times scheduled for every 10 minutes on a 9-hole course, which runs on a loop for 18. When I pulled up to the tee box, there were three groups ahead of me looping around for their second 9, and I didn't start for another 20 minutes... Not to mention, we were obviously held up for the majority of the day.
Here's what made the experience for me - Around 7 pm while I was about to hit up the green (or at least attempt to) one of the staff members drove by on a cart and just yelled "we closed," as he drove by. Obviously, I was bothered that it was still plenty light out and they were closing but didn't think it was unreasonable to wrap up the hole I was already halfway through. Right as I finished and started driving back in, no less than 5 minutes later mind you, he drove back around and threatened to call the police. I know this place is only 15 dollars, but why you think it's okay to treat a paying customer like that blows my mind.
As far as the course goes, it was alright for what you paid for. Fairways were actually good, greens were a bit slow but clean, and tee boxes were basically nonexistent.
Short course, fun to play and the greens are in decent condition, especially considering Florida summer heat. Again, it’s super short, 9 holes you play twice but actually a bit of character for a small course.
Budget golf at its best
Good layout provides a variety of shots and challenges. Greens well maintained and rolled well. Fairways were average yet playable. Tee areas needed some help but with a little effort a good spot could be found. Great practice facility with a range, chipping and putting green. Easy on the wallet especially with the lower rates available at specified times each day.
Great Value
Great course when trying to watch your budget. Fun layout.
Bang for buck, but slow play
I’m not a serious golfer, got to play 18 less than $20 on Father’s Day before noon. So wasn’t expecting sawgrass. The fairways were better than others in Jax. Greens were also decent, can’t say that about some other course charging double or triple. Only 9 holes but nice to go around again and see if you can beat your previous holes. Unfortunately, that is this facilities downfall. Between golfers coming in for a tee time and the ones finishing the first 9, the first hole gets pretty backed up and causes slow play through the first few holes if not more depending on how many are in each group. I’m assuming this is a common thing on the weekends, might have been because I was there on Father’s Day but it wasn’t extremely packed and still had slow pace. They stack the tee times as a normal course would but don’t account for those finishing the front 9. Not bad for the price though it’s a good course for less than an hour at top golf.
