Rowallan Castle Golf Club

Had a fantastic day here as a visitor. Dave in the pro shop was an absolute gentleman and a credit to the club, couldn’t have been more helpful. Course is extremely well kept and greens were perfect. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, especially for the price.

From the moment we arrived we got a very warm welcome from the pro to the club captain. The welcome pack pack was a nice gesture and the course was in very nice condition and pace of play was steady all and all a good day out and good value

What a great day! Even in the rain. Dave in the pro shop was a gentleman and a great help. Course was in fantastic condition and greens were great. Excellent value for money and beautiful surroundings. Also shot my lowest course which helped 😝 highly recommended

The course was in reasonable conditions , though some of the fairways were wet and slightly boggy . The rough is bad , forget looking for your ball ! Otherwise the course is good , fairways and greens are looked after . Saying that I enjoyed my round , the the cost of 3 balls lost was an extra cost .

This course was very enjoyable to play, I am an average golfer in earnest and I found it a fair challenge as it is a championship course. The course is well maintained and the clubhouse is wonderful, with a proper pro shop and a great changing room. I also had a very good lunch with my golfing friends in the glasshouse restaurant, the plates were all left empty! It is how it sounds, a glass pavilion with ample surroundings and views of the new castle, a great way to end the day after a round. Playing the course we had views of various islands off the coast aswell as the new castle and old castle at different parts of the course. I will definitely be back to play again as it is reasonably priced and close to Glasgow, I may even consider a membership in the future! Highly recommend!

I played this course in August 2025 after having previously played it in 2020. I have to say that the layout is easily up there with the best in the country with every hole interesting, challenging and set in idyllic Ayrshire countryside. The setting is amazing with the course wrapping around 2 castles and the Glasshouse restaurant is excellent. I can see the vast improvements in drainage since I last played although granted there are still some improvements and bedding in to come as the course is only around 15 years old. I was impressed enough to join for 18 months in September and have played the course weekly since. The club has recently improved the already great greens and are in the process of perfecting the finishing touches that will elevate the course in years to come. I would recommend the course to anyone and the membership rates are extremely competitive for the quality of the course!

Wasn’t allowed on the course for not having winter spikes was told I can get a refund back

The staff gave us such a warm and genuine welcome, making the day memorable from the start. The course itself is beautiful, with castle views and elevated holes adding to the charm. Some bunkers were a bit wet, and although our score were poor, the kindness of the staff and the setting more than made up for it.

Got take on by a member on Sunday, it was superb.

Affordable, gorgeous to the eye and the quality of the course keeps you entertained all the way through. Plus the bonus par three to finish, what a treat at the end!

A superb test, it’s long and I managed to find pretty much every bunker along the way. Warning they aren’t small!

Had a coffee and a roll in the club house before and lunch anfter and it was all great, good to see service with a smile still lives on! What a gem of a Golf course.

Rowallan Golf Course is a real gem in Ayrshire. The setting, with Rowallan Castle in view, makes for a memorable round. The course is beautifully maintained, with true greens and a layout that challenges without being punishing. Staff are welcoming, and the clubhouse has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with great food and drink. A course that combines history, scenery, and great golf – highly recommended!

I have played rowallan a few times now and the course has improved massively year on year. The layout is world class and a true test of golf. Hard to find a better parkland course in the west coast. Small areas of improvement needed like all courses but would thoroughly recommend

I brought some good friends from South Africa to play golf around Arran and Ayrshire. Our day spent at Rowallen Castle was the pinnacle of our trip. From the beautiful setting, the course layout and the wonderful welcome and attentiveness we received was exceptional. Our day was rounded off with a fantastic 3 course meal at the Glasshouse. The course itself is of an exceptional standard we were just a bit unfortunate that it had rained a lot the previous day.

Fantastic course in amazing grounds. A real tough test particularly when the wind picks up.

I really didn't know what to expect but man was I treated to a wonderful day at this amazing course. I played alone but got to really take in everything about the course. First of all, the price is really affordable for the quality of the course. The greens are well cared for and the speed was decent. I really like the design and layout. Tons of variety and no holes looked the same. And there was a lot of thought put into the layout as there are plenty of well placed bunkers to make you think about your strategy. A couple bunkers probably need a top up but otherwise the course was in great shape. But the staff are really the MVPs of Rowallan. They are all so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this course!

I can’t recommend this course enough, it’s truly a delight to play- with challenges throughout the 18 holes. The views are equally stunning . The course itself is in excellent condition for playing. The Glasshouse restaurant offers a superb menu at the end of the round

I have been a member here for years now and consider it to be a home from home. The members and staff are second to none and the place has a real community feel. The course itself is coming on year on year and is a fantastic test of golf. The facilities are awesome, from the amazing Glasshouse restaurant to the castle facilities for club events and on site lessons from a top PGA pro in Ross Aitken, the overall experience is absolutely amazing. Can’t recommend enough.

The course has improved so much, and presents golfers of all skill levels a good test, which can feel like a different animal off the back tees, it more than hard enough off the forward ones too.

I would urge anyone who hasn’t played it, to do so, and anyone who played more than 3 years ago to give it another go, you will not be disappointed.

A truly great setting and layout, from the drive in to the friendly welcome in the pro shop, this golf course whilst fairly new in golfing terms has really embedded in and offers a real test to any golfer of any age. Can’t speak highly enough about the staff around the estate and the food in the glasshouse is truly amazing. Well done all at Rowallan Castle Golf Club it is well worth a visit.
