Sewailo Golf Club
About
Sewailo Golf Club is part of the Casino Del Sol Resort in Tucson, a luxurious resort run by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. The course's name, Sewailo, means "flower world" in the Yaqui language. When the idea of creating the golf course was first formed, the tribe enlisted the help of fellow Native American and PGA Tour player Notah Begay III as well as renowned course architect Ty Butler. The team fully utilized the rugged landscape, crafting a championship layout with a range of shot values and a variety of hazards. The bunkering is minimal but strategic, added to complement the natural features rather than overpower them. There are also lakes and meandering streams that come into play. Sewailo Golf Club has five sets of tees with the longest stretching to 7,400 yards.

Great course
Well kept course. Greens were in great shape as were fairways. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Great Course
The course never disappoints. The only issue I had was there was a 1 hour frost delay and I was never contacted. The starter was awesome and let me go with a group so I was close to my original tee time. In the future it would be nice to be notified of a delay.
No beverage service all day at the course
We played in 90 plus degree temperatures and there was no beverage service on the course! Dangerous! The water at the stations are lukewarm and there is no ice to be found. Unacceptable. COVID-19 doesn’t live in ice. There is no reason scientifically why ice is no longer provided on the carts. And when it is 90 plus degrees in the desert, you must provide beverage service and ice. Very disappointed.
Very nice and challenging
This is one of the best courses to play. Staff is excellent and the golf course is top notch!
My Favorite Course in Tucson
This is the second time I have played this course. It’s fun and challenging specially when it is windy. I used the cart GPS a lot and it definitely help in lowering my score. My favorite course in Tucson so far.
Almost Perfect!
Our foursome moved quickly through the beautiful rolling green fairways. This was my first time playing Sewailo so the cart GPS made it a little better to avoid the numerous course obstacles. The bunkers were well maintained even with no rakes due to covid. The only reason I gave this 4/5 stars was the greens needed a little work. I somewhat blame my fellow golfers whom may not repair their ball marks all the time. Overall, moderately challenging and a great value so I'll be coming back with friends to play it again!!
Fantastic Course
I get to Tucson a couple of times a year and always play Sewailo. It is a fantastic layout and always in excellent condition. If you can find it on a relatively windless day, you are really in for a treat. The windier it is, the more of a challenge, especially the opening holes on the back nine. Pick the right set of tees to maximize your fun as that will give you more options on how to play a few of the holes. Great quartet of par fives. #10 is one of the prettiest and toughest holes in the State.
Played during overseed period and it was cart path only. Should have taken pull carts would have been more enjoyable. Staff was GREAT, very helpful. Because of the overseeding the fairways did not roll much, therefore playing very long. First time that we played the course and found that the cart GPS was very helpful in navigating the 154 bunkers. Fairways are generally very generous, but the greens are on the small side and usually turned at angles to your second shot therefore there is a premium on distance control on you second shot. Bring your chipping and sand game! We will play it again outside of the overseeding period.
Very Interesting Layout!
Fun & Challenging course
Fun course if you like having to think your way around a course, multiple holes that you need to choose to drive left or right of fairway bunkers or try to bomb over if a long hitter. As well as a couple L shaped holes that you can try to cut corner over trouble to shorten hole. Fast greens compared to any other course I have played in Tucson recently, only issue is players are doing such a poor job of fixing their divots that the starter emphasized to please fix our divots. If everyone can do the and 1 [ fix your divot plus 1 other ] the problem can be rectified. Greens still rolled very true despite this. All in all a great course that I recommend.
Beautiful and Worth Playing
The recommendations from others and good written reviews were all on target. A uniquely-designed layout that was pleasing to the eye and in great condition for the most part. (Greens were victim to people who didn't fix ball marks...or did it improperly...but they rolled real nice.) Enjoyed the many risk/reward opportunities on the course...really fun. The staff were all so delightful and friendly...every one! Only downside was the GPS system in our cart worked only intermittently and kept re-booting. It would have been really useful first time playing this course. Look forward to playing here again!
The best on the south side
This course is part of a Native American casino resort. Things are shut down due to Covid, but not the golf thankfully. Like many native lands, this property did not start with the choicest piece of property, but what was developed from it is fantastic. The team, along with the designer, Notah Begay, did an awesome job with the course. The layout is fun, challenging, beautiful and well maintained. The staff is super friendly and well trained. The practice area is absolutely great. The GPS system is the best, accurate and detailed. Highly recommend this course in every way.
