Sewailo Golf Club
About
Sewailo Golf Club is part of the Casino Del Sol Resort in Tucson, a luxurious resort run by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. The course's name, Sewailo, means "flower world" in the Yaqui language. When the idea of creating the golf course was first formed, the tribe enlisted the help of fellow Native American and PGA Tour player Notah Begay III as well as renowned course architect Ty Butler. The team fully utilized the rugged landscape, crafting a championship layout with a range of shot values and a variety of hazards. The bunkering is minimal but strategic, added to complement the natural features rather than overpower them. There are also lakes and meandering streams that come into play. Sewailo Golf Club has five sets of tees with the longest stretching to 7,400 yards.

Sewailo Golf Course
Golf course is very nice. The golf carts are very clean and well stocked with, clean towels, water bottles, and tees. Well worth the price.
The Staff is extremely outstanding, especially Rafael the starter and the cashier at the front counter. Course is very pretty except for the edges of the fairways which are very ugly because of the overgrowth of dead trees and weeds.
Won't play again
Played this course for the 1st time . The course is in good shape, however, the pace of play is awful! Almost 5 hours !
This is what everyone is talking about today , pace of play. People are really getting tired of wondering when the course managements will grow some cajones and hire marshals to cut out this notion that people think that they're playing their own private course and not caring how many people they hold up.
Challenging and fun
With some 80 bunkers we definitely honed our sand shots. Layout is challenging for an intermediate golfer but there's tons of fun if you bring the right attitude. We did not like being chased around by the grounds crew, that was pretty annoying, but everyone's super friendly. Would definitely return.
A stunning new addition to the Tucson area
A beautifully maintained course with a variety of nice holes, makes this course a pleasure to play. It can be difficult (it's the home course of U of A) but the many tee box selections allow you to play to your level.
Most of the holes have generous landing areas and are straightforward in their design (tee box, fairways, greens, and desert all around) Two holes share a double green -- #1 shares a green with #8 (are we in Scotland??). Bunkering is placed in the fairway and near greens to frame your shots. Water is in play on a few holes (especially all along the right side of 18). #3, for example, is a carry over water but at only 155y from the tips, it's a relatively easy play. #6 is one of those double dogleg Par 5s (not one of my favorite designs).
The amenities are also top notch and the service is wonderful. The course is managed by Troon Golf and it lives up to Troon's standard of service. A hotel/casino is located on site.
Starr Pass and Desert Mountain may have better reputations, but this course holds it's own as a nice play to play.
Great course - Great Value
This course is the best value in the Tucson area. Although not very scenic, the course is in good condition and staff is very friendly and accommodating. The course is very challenging with some long carries. I play this course every time I visit Tucson and as long as they keep the prices reasonable I will continue to return.
Great track but pace of place turns you away
Played two days. Great challenging track but 5 1/2 hr rounds on carts is not tolerated. Understand that can happen with a noon tee time, but second day with a 9 am tee time, you dont expect to have 2 hr 50 minute front 9. Walked off after waiting on 10th tee.
Great course, slow play
I loved the course, the staff, and the hospitality. That being said, I lost interest on about hole 13
because of the very slow play, 5 hours and 25 minutes. There were staff driving around the course but play never picked up. I really did not believe I would finish before dark and I teed off at 12 pm Also I have never been charged any amount of money much less $25 for my wife to ride along in the cart with me. Maybe this is more normal than I think but I was not charged for my wife and daughter to drive the cart while I walked at Pebble Beach. Just saying!
Windy
I have played this course several times and it has always been very windy. Yesterday shots into a cross wind were really tough, and into the wind was not easy. 2 club wind easily. Great practice area.
Wonderful Day
This was a wonderful experience. The course was in beautiful shape. The green were true. The holes themselves suited 2 long hitters and 2 high handicappers. Will definitely play again.
2nd nine Tough
first nine excellent. 2nd nine very difficult.
hidden slope offs in to hazards make first time challenges unfair.
this course has great features
The course is in excellent condition. Many holes have water along the fairways so be careful if you slice.
Lot of walking
Carr continued to indicate we were behind the 4:23 time expectation. Meanwhile we are walking miles from our cart to get to the ball and back. Turn it off until you can take carts in the fairway.
Course is great I will be back.
Great Track
Fun and fair golf course. Excellent condition, good greens, beautiful scenery. Cart path only would be my only complaint, but I understand why they do this.
Will play again.
Fun layout
This course will challenge every club in your bag. Great layout and well groomed putting surfaces that will keep you on your toes.
Not a cart path only course
The lay out is not good if the course is cart path only. Long walks to Lansing areas and some greens. Golf now could have indicated that the course was under cart path only restriction.
Beautiful Course - Quirky Deaign
The course is in immaculate condition and the greens are perfect. It is a target-golf layout with many, many blind shots. It is difficult to see what is in front of you off the tee and on many approach shots. When we played it was "cartpath only" and the cart paths are way off the fairways rendering the built-in cart GPS virtually useless. A LOT of walking so be prepared.
Sewailo Golf Course
The best public golf course in Tucson. It was cart path only because of recent re-seeding, but still very worth while even though the GPS was ineffective. Unlimited bottled ice water around the course and lots of bunkers with good sand depth.
local_player
The only thing I would say is the pace of play was very poor. It took just over 5 hrs to complete and noboby ever lets faster players through. One other thing, When the cart girl goes on lunch and the pace of play is so slow there is a good amount of time with no cart service. What's the use of having a message but to call cart service if there is no one answering. suggestion is to have someone take the place on the cart and keep it running during lunch. Other than that this course is very nice and well laid out.
gf
Course was very beautiful. Hard to believe what they did with the desert.
Well maintained
The overall experience was excellent. The staff was polite and friendly. They asked if you wanted your clubs cleaned, not just attacked, and expect a tip. The
course was in great shape for the time of the year. I played the course twice during this week, and I'm glad
I did. If you can put up with the heat, it's a great time to go. We went to the course an hour early, and were
able to move our times up, to beat the heat. The money I saved on golf I lost in the casino. I'LL BE BACK!!!
