Decent
The course in general was good. Pace of play was fine, the layout was nice, and the greens were excellent. The grass in the winter is mowed so low that hitting from the fairway was like hitting off a green or hard pan. I would prefer the fairways were left with a little turf. It was actually better to be in the rough where your ball was on dormant grass vs a hard fairway. Tee boxes were awful but since your hitting from a tee not the end of the world. The staff was nice but they seemed under staffed. Carts were not cleaned. We had to take a dirty cart and discard all the stuff from the previous players. I would come back when the grass comes out of dormancy.

Miserable
The staff was disrespectful. There was a 2+ hour frost delay and no notice shared with me because I wasn’t a member. Waste of my time driving there. Waste of my gas money. Only to be talked down too by the kid at the desk. Disgusting experience.

Beautiful Course
The weather was nice but damp the course condition was wonderful for the off-season I loved it so much that I became a member. The course is less than 10 minutes from my house and the extra perks fitness center, indoor-outdoor pools walking paths, etc. makes it well worth the money.

Challenging and fun course with some beautiful holes
Any course with the name "river" in it always concerns me a bit as I'm not too fond of tons of water, but for the most part water isn't too much of a concern here. I've played the course a few times now and it really is a great layout with some very diverse holes. The first few holes will give you the impression that the course is really tight, but there is actually a lot of variance in the layout. There's a nice mix of short par 4s that are nearly driveable and nearly 600 yard par 5s that are just a lot of fun. I would say the par3's really standout though. They are quite beautiful holes. Overall the course is a bit tight in spots but it really is a great mix of holes and I would highly recommend giving it a try. I recently played on a warm day in January and the conditions were great. Greens are painted but were in top shape for this time of year.

Fred Smith Courses
This is clearly the best of the Fred Smith Courses and I play this course 5-6 times a year. Except for mid-winter it is in very good shape. All 3 9’s are challenging, but fun. Wish he would maintain his other course as well as this one.

Great course
I moved to NC in October and joined this course. I’m from the north and the opportunity to play this late is awesome. I’ve played twice and the Course was in great shape. Greens are fast and true. Fairways in great shape.

The course has some awesome features
I would recommend this golf course to be played at least 5 times a year. I plan on doing the same. The layout of the course is challenging and that is what I like about this golf course!

Gorgeous Round of Golf
Riverwood is well maintained and the scenery is just great. Nice long par fives. Great fairways and we’ll kept rough. Even in the fall the greens are nice and tight.
The grill is amazing. Seriously good food and a great beer selection.
It’s busy and not cheap but definitely the best round of golf near me in Clayton.
