Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Neuse

Greens were bad for that price, they should have notified the condition of greens.

NO BEVERAGE CART on 104 degree day

We really love the course. Our biggest issue is on 104° day on a weekend. We did not see the car girl once or cart man whatever you wanna call him.. for the amount of money we played in the heat of the day there should 100% been someone driving around water beers to help hydrate the golfers. This was our biggest disappointment..

Drought conditions

It's unfair to rate a course in the middle of a severe drought. This was the 3rd course I played during the week and it was the driest. But it also has the most undulations, compounding the watering challenge. Despite that, the greens were smooth and rolled well. Fairways also rolled well, making them difficult to hold. Conditions aside, it was a fun layout and I look forward to playing it again once the rain comes.

Hole 13

several times in a row while playing this hole we try to get an advantage by hitting a long drive and letting it roll off of the front of the hill to some soft grass just before the creek where we would have 111 into the green.

Because of the lack of grass and hard pan it is impossible to have it softly roll off of the front of the hill and stop prior to the creek. Three guys out of 4 all lost balls because of no grass below the hill.

Good course, slow pace on weekends

I love the layout of the course and the variety of tees to accommodate all players levels. I didn’t like the slow pace. I can only play on weekends and every time I played, it was painfully slow. I played there maybe 4 times this year. I’ll try it on a weekday soon and see if it is better

Reminds me of Augusta

I was at Augusta recently for the ladies final and this course has the same feel. It’s a rugged but fair test that requires strategic thinking. Most of the greens are elevated which makes the putting very tricky. Like Augusta most of the shots are uphill. The course was in fine shape for this time of year. The pro shop is very small . The restaurant has a lively crowd and the food is good.

Excellent Raleigh area course

Beautiful course visually. Lots of elevation changes. Greens rolled great. Some blind shots and hidden hazards, so local knowledge is needed. Would play a few holes different next time. Great value at $70 with a GN deal.

Not coming back

I walk as much as I drive. I don't like the course, the tee boxes drove me insane, they didn't have red tee but on they're map in the cart shows red but really none. it was yellow, so I figured maybe yellow and red are the same. but it was a bad tee boxes... and it was very slow.. I had to leave and skipped 3 holes.
