The Neuse Golf Club
About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Course condition not up to the price
For the reviews and price of $90 I was excited to see a decent course layout with maybe a few issues, however most greens had ground under repair, cutouts in more than one edge of the green and most of the greens had a fungus in the remaining that was clearly trying to me fixed with the repair areas.
Happens and not a huge issue but some notification or reduced price seems like it would make sense but there was zero info about it.
Maybe will try again in next year but wouldn’t be back this season at this rate.
Shocked and disappointed
Have to say the Neuse was a big disappointment for our group yesterday. $90 to play the course on Saturday 11am, sod on greens 1-3 and a few more on the back 9. Excavator in the bunker on 10th hole and bunkers were not in good shape at all. Great layout but in rough shape!
All I’ve heard was The Neuse was a good course and we were looking forward to it. It’s sad, when we made the tee time we asked the condition of the course an we were told it’s in great shape. Sad!
great fun at great course!
Raleigh, NC had a lot of rain night before but this course just north did not thankfully. first time playing and course was quite challenging but a lot of fun. staff was great and food and drink at the restaurant is really good too. fairways and sand traps were in excellent shape only the greens were a bit off since haven't healed from over a month ago maint. we had a blast and highly recommend this course... don't recommend for beginners or low intermediates since it is quite challenging.
Excellent!!
This was a great round of golf. The course conditions were amazing and the twosome I was paired with were informative and friendly. I will definitely come here to play again!!
Neuse
Greens were bad for that price, they should have notified the condition of greens.
Punched Greens
We played 2 weeks after greens were punched and it was awful Super bumpy and slow
NO BEVERAGE CART on 104 degree day
We really love the course. Our biggest issue is on 104° day on a weekend. We did not see the car girl once or cart man whatever you wanna call him.. for the amount of money we played in the heat of the day there should 100% been someone driving around water beers to help hydrate the golfers. This was our biggest disappointment..
Greens are punched
Greens are currently punched and suffering from the drought.
Drought conditions
It's unfair to rate a course in the middle of a severe drought. This was the 3rd course I played during the week and it was the driest. But it also has the most undulations, compounding the watering challenge. Despite that, the greens were smooth and rolled well. Fairways also rolled well, making them difficult to hold. Conditions aside, it was a fun layout and I look forward to playing it again once the rain comes.
Hole 13
several times in a row while playing this hole we try to get an advantage by hitting a long drive and letting it roll off of the front of the hill to some soft grass just before the creek where we would have 111 into the green.
Because of the lack of grass and hard pan it is impossible to have it softly roll off of the front of the hill and stop prior to the creek. Three guys out of 4 all lost balls because of no grass below the hill.
Nice course
Wish the course had greened up more otherwise very nice.
Good course, slow pace on weekends
I love the layout of the course and the variety of tees to accommodate all players levels. I didn’t like the slow pace. I can only play on weekends and every time I played, it was painfully slow. I played there maybe 4 times this year. I’ll try it on a weekday soon and see if it is better
Reminds me of Augusta
I was at Augusta recently for the ladies final and this course has the same feel. It’s a rugged but fair test that requires strategic thinking. Most of the greens are elevated which makes the putting very tricky. Like Augusta most of the shots are uphill. The course was in fine shape for this time of year. The pro shop is very small . The restaurant has a lively crowd and the food is good.
Great Course
I really enjoyed the course. Lots of hills and features throughout the course, kept the round interesting and challenging. Conditions were great, greens were pretty quick.
Excellent Raleigh area course
Beautiful course visually. Lots of elevation changes. Greens rolled great. Some blind shots and hidden hazards, so local knowledge is needed. Would play a few holes different next time. Great value at $70 with a GN deal.
