Expensive for the course
It's expensive for playing golf, but the staffs are great.
There are better maintained courses less expensive than this course.
Cobblestone is one great track!
One of the best public courses around. The greens and tee boxea were immaculate. Several fairways were in bad shape though. Great views of the lake, rolling hills, and challenging layout. Staff and marshals were friendly. Highly recommend it...especially with a Golf Now discount.
Winter conditions for fairways
I played here last summer, and the conditions were great. The greens hold well and run smooth. The fairways at this point are still in winter mode, with thin grass, and compacted muddy patches throughout. The bunkers are clean, but fairly compact.
Great time
Great course...lots of undulation.... once greens are up to par during grass growing season it will be beautiful. Lovely lake. I will be back. Thanks Catherine for the info you provided on purchasing a card. I will be back soon.
Needs some TLC
This is a high traffic course that is way overpriced for its conditions. It was extremely wet and cart path only. The greens were mostly good although some appeared to be nothing more than painted dirt around the edges. It's very tight, not long, a shot makers course. Many deep bunkers guard the greens so accuracy is key to scoring. Although its a pretty course situated around Lake Acworth, it has some poor drainage conditions. There are washed out areas due to the slopes and hilly terrain. And, like many southern courses, there are way too many pine trees that shade and ultimately kill out the Bermuda fairways around the edges. For this course to return to pristine condition they need to cut about 50 trees around the tees and edges of the fairways and resod those areas were the grass has died.
Cobblestone Golf Cours
I play this course regularly. In general, the course is an an amazing value. The greens are in the best condition they have ever been. Fairways have suffered because of all the rain combined with the design of the fairways but this is only temporary. The staff is amazing starting with the guys who load your bags, to the food and beverage staff and everyone in the pro shop and the starters and marshals that keep things moving. If you want the Country Club treatment without the cost you who this course a try.
Slow Play
The course has a nice layout except for one home on the back nine. Play was very slow and though we were told that the ranger spoke to the slow group play did not pick up in speed. When we were finished the snack bar was. Loses so we could not get a coke.
Pretty views with fun holes
Views you can't find on most courses. Eight holes on lake, and all the holes are good fun holes. Greens were perfect. Tons of undulation and humps thru out the fairways.
This is first warm weather here so course was soggy and cart path only, but listening to locals they say it usually stays pretty wet. Of course tops of humps were dry and swales were mud. I'm sure that's very hard to maintain. A couple holes locals said are always cart path only.
Also there are big humps between cart paths and fairways, which made it really hard to find your ball when cart path only because you couldn't see the fairway at all from the car paths.
Pace of play was slow even considering cart path only. A little over 5 hours. Since cart path only seems to be an ongoing situation at this course, they could do a better job educating players and marshalls how to speed up play when cart path only. For example, yardage is painted on path so carry 3-4 clubs out to your ball. I saw so many people walk all the way out to their ball, get a yardage, walk back to cart for club, then walk back to ball to hit. And many players standing by their ball waiting for someone to do all that, instead of hitting while he's walking back and forth. Forget about who's farther away and play ready golf!
worst drainage
we payed 50 bucks for hot deal it was the worst experience I've ever had the course was soaked and muddy all 18 holes.unplayable should not have been open.
Wow! can't believe how slow play was today. Cart path only didn't help, but I swear the groups in front of us were spending more time looking at birds than playing golf. People need to realize they are not the only ones on the course. 5.5 hrs. to play 18. That is a joke.
Good course, not so good appearance
Disappointed that there was still branches and limbs all over the course from the storms 2+ weeks ago. Was almost like they didn’t even try!
Wet
really wet, not sure why, and lots of thin grass. Ok for December, but, see you in March/April
Great place to play!
Weather was perfect. Greens were at there best. I am never disappointed to get a round in at Cobblestone. The Hot Deal price just sweeten the experience.
Diamond in the Rough
I Love the Greens... Pure and True-Lightning Fast. I definitely will be back.
Beautiful and challenging
Came in town to play this course as I read numerous great reviews. First off there is a nice pro shop/club house when you roll in. They have a nice driving range/practice area to take advantage of before your round (although some parts were being renovated).
Overall, this was a fun track to play although challenging, very tight and left little room for error. Definitely have an opportunity to hit every club in your bag. The course is right on the lake so it makes for a beautiful layout.
I only gave 4 stars because the tee boxes were in awful shape. I’m not sure if they lost the grass or what , but they were flat out awful. I saw where sprinklers were going off on the tee boxes in between groups playing and several tee boxes were soaked, muddy and little grass to even hit off of. I have no doubt they used to be in better condition, but they have a lot of work to do to get these back where they should be. I will be back to play this course again in the near future.
Disappointing
Too many slow groups- Teed off at 3pm and called it a day after 9 at 5:30. This is the problem with Cobblestone- great course with too many slow players. Rangers in afternoons do not keep pace moving and things back up so it ruins the experience. Also, for some reason they were watering the T boxes so u teed off in muddy conditions. This was unusual for Cobblestone. Bottom line - great course when not stuck behind slow players- which is more often than not.
Cobblestone comments
Excellent practice facilities and the course is always in good condition. The greens put well but the break can be hard to figure. There is enough slope and speed to fool you from three feet.
The course has a mixture of short and long holes. Some fairways are tight, and all greens are small and well bunkered. There are some beautiful holes on Lake Acworth and wind can be a factor. It is important to stay in the fairway because ithe rough is thick and will require a layup.
This is a challenging course that plays tougher than its rating.
By all means I will. Love the course and the people who run it.
