Invasive Advertising from Golf cart Tablet
First, even if they didn't have this ridiculous advertising this course isn't quality enough to demand that kind of money. A lot of the tee boxes were in laughable condition. Lucky for the club they are in a high income area so they get away with this but don't fall for it. For the entire 18 holes we'd randomly have the tablet (installed in the carts) come on with advertising commercials, no way to stop it keep it from happening. If there is a way they don't make it easy or known. You can only stop it off once it comes on which is hard to do from the tee box. Who wants a commercial advertisement to come on in your back swing? I know I don't. We could not turn the sound off, not an option which is freaking crazy on a golf course. I find that invasive advertising repulsive and would never consider playing at a course that operates like this
Not worth the price - horrible service
The staff and conditions of the course did a great job making sure I spend my money elsewhere. We had the 1st tee time and fell about 7 minutes behind by the 3rd hole. The marshals asked us to move a little faster, and rightfully so. By the 5th hole we were informed that we were still 1 minute behind. Really?? At that time we informed the marshal that the GPS was not working and he was still more focused on the pace of play instead of getting us the full functioning cart we paid for. (Bag man put our clubs in and we didn't recognize it didn't work until the first tee).
We saw another marshal at the 8th and he informed us we were still 1 minute behind. We had nobody waiting on us for the previous 5 holes!! When we switched carts at the turn we informed the mgmt what we were doing and they did not say a single word. Nothing.
When we got to the back 9 they had let a tournament go off, so we waited!.... We didn't see a single marshal the back 9 but finished 20 minutes behind pace of play because we had to wait.
Tee boxes had the entire area marked off as ground under repair. $70 for this course is an absolute joke.
Still Failing
The course has begun to repair dead loss from the winter.
The range was ok, the putting green turf was used to fix the 4th green.
The greens in general were poor.
Some of the tee boxes are completely dead.
General maintenance is sorely lacking.
Simple things like mowing the grass, maintaining the bunkers, cutting the green side fringes, would go a long way to making the course more enjoyable
I also wonder why they charge $2.50 for a 20 ounce power aide?
I can by the identical drink at Wal mart for .56 cents.
That's quite a hefty markup
I think that the management company that runs cobblestone could care less about providing a quality product.
I suspect they want to charge as much as they possibly can and spend as little as they can on maintenance.
I don't understand why it so hard to grow grass and cut it?
One of my favorite GA course
This is a great course that experienced a harsh winter. The maintenance crew has done a "Herculean" job repairing the damage. I had a good round and the course that was marked GUR, was never a hindrance.
Slooooooow
Really looked forward to playing this course again but very disappointed at pace of play and the lack of effort on the part of Marshalls to move things along. Ended up skipping 3 holes on the back nine to finish in 4 hrs and 10 min!
EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED!
BEWARE!!! car path only, and you will not find out till you get there. During the week was paired with a late player, who showed up on #2.. slowed everyone down with slow play.. Wont be back!
Course in bad shape 7/6/14
Normally the course is pretty nice, but they have laid new sod and the greens are in bad shape, hadn't rained in days, but they still had cart path only.
Way too expensive for these bad conditions. If I had known the current situation I would have played elsewhere.
Poor course conditions
The course is in poor condition, almost half the holes are "under repair".. Greens were just punched and not very playable. I will never come back...lots of other courses in the Atlanta area for a few dollars more that are twice as nice!
Awful Conditions and Poor Value
Hi,
My husband, son and I played a round of golf recently at Cobblestone. We were excited to play as we hadn't played the course since 2013.
I must say we were extremely disappointed in the condition of the course and probably will never return. All greens were atrocious with no green anywhere close to being acceptable. The tee boxes suffered from the same neglect. To add insult to the whole experience several of the fairways looked as though gasoline had been spread over large areas creating a black, burned out look.
Had the pro been present when we returned to the clubhouse I would requested a refund. Charging $60-$70 per head was unacceptable for a "dog run."
Cyd
Not worth the $25 I paid
Got to the course to find out the greens were just aerated which would have been ok, but it was cart path only
At 64 walking is not an easy, especially for this couse with all of the hills
Fairwasy were extremely wet from watering Fell and got full of mud
Would not play again until they fix the problems
COURSE UNDER REPAIR!!
Overall, golf was average, course was terrible. Back Nine Totally Closed. Greens were aerated on both front and back. Greens were in terrible condition. Sodding was being performed on the front nine that I was required to play twice. Two par 4 holes and one par 5 hole were shortened to par threes due to construction. Construction was NOT indicated on the Golf Now Website!! MUST Check Course Website for Updates.
cocurse is very scenic
basic course was in excellant condition but aerating and a lot of resodding going on,par 4's reduced to par three's and had to play front nine twice .back nine closed due to resodding and cart path only, made this a very long course for a senior citizen.
Disappointed in Cobblestone
I consider cobblestone golf course one of the best courses in my area. But with that said, yesterday's round was disappointing because of the course conditions. I was told in the proshop that I would only be allowed to play the front 9 because of maintenance on the back 9. But then I was told that hole 6 would be used as a par 3 instead of a par 4 due to maintenance. Then it was told on a couple more par 4's instead of tee'ing off if I could just drop a ball somewhere in the fairway and hit from their due to maintenance. It felt like I was playing a par 3 course. I understand course maintenance but if your going to be doing the whole course then let people know before paying for a round, or truly just do the front or back. I was disappointed but I do truly think this is a great course when fully operational.
Not "the top public course in Georgia" as the website says
Blame it on a harsh winter, but I have played many other courses here in the area and none compare to this. The most important part of any course should be the greens and these are awful! Dead spots, no grass and ball marks on every green, it's near impossible to hit a good stroke. It seemed like every hole was under repair and fairways getting ripped up. I would not recommend this course in its current shape for the price they are charging!
Course is in HORRIBLE shape!
I knew they were working on the course but I did not know the front 9 was closed. I had to play the back 9 twice. The course was in horrible shape. It was not worth the $25 fee that I paid. The pace of play was really slow. I think they should close the course completely until they can make necessary repairs. Its an embarrasment to charge for this. I quit after the first 9 and did not ask for a refund. It was just that bad. There are simply too many other options to waste your money here.
Maintenance
It would be good to make aerification alerts more prominent also front nine was closed for maintenance
Great Course, Rough shape.
The course is in rough shape after the harsh winter. Lots of winter damage and a lot of areas in the process of being repaired.
Epic Fail
Started the round on ten. The course was packed, only one drink cart. By the time our group played seven holes all of the water coolers were empty.
The range was closed because their was no grass, on the mats. The range balls are terrible.
The course is repairing areas in the fairways that did not survive the winter.
The greens are terrible. The fringes are the same length as the fairways.
I dont understand why the maintenance staff can't mow the grass that survived.
Tee boxes are terrible.
The people are always nice.
Needs Work
Cobblestone is a beautiful course, but its not in great shape right now. Several of the greens are in bad shape and at least 4-5 holes are under serious repair. Two holes were closed on 6/13 and they gave a $5 discount to offset. They would be smart to knock 20% off the fee for a while until all the new sod takes root and they've finished the repair projects. Overall the course is not bad, but the handful of greens and fairways that are hurting are in pretty rough shape.
Go somewhere else
The course is in terrible condition. Little or no maintenance is performed. Greens replaced in 2010, disease and dead spots on every green today. Tee boxes are horrible and the bunkers are not maintained. The fringes around the greens are the same length as the fairways.
Unless people stop going the management team will spend no money on maintenance.
I would never have an outing at cobblestone.
The range is terrible and so are the balls.
Keep on driving north and go to Barnsley Gardens.
