Great Course, Rough shape.
The course is in rough shape after the harsh winter. Lots of winter damage and a lot of areas in the process of being repaired.
Epic Fail
Started the round on ten. The course was packed, only one drink cart. By the time our group played seven holes all of the water coolers were empty.
The range was closed because their was no grass, on the mats. The range balls are terrible.
The course is repairing areas in the fairways that did not survive the winter.
The greens are terrible. The fringes are the same length as the fairways.
I dont understand why the maintenance staff can't mow the grass that survived.
Tee boxes are terrible.
The people are always nice.
Needs Work
Cobblestone is a beautiful course, but its not in great shape right now. Several of the greens are in bad shape and at least 4-5 holes are under serious repair. Two holes were closed on 6/13 and they gave a $5 discount to offset. They would be smart to knock 20% off the fee for a while until all the new sod takes root and they've finished the repair projects. Overall the course is not bad, but the handful of greens and fairways that are hurting are in pretty rough shape.
Go somewhere else
The course is in terrible condition. Little or no maintenance is performed. Greens replaced in 2010, disease and dead spots on every green today. Tee boxes are horrible and the bunkers are not maintained. The fringes around the greens are the same length as the fairways.
Unless people stop going the management team will spend no money on maintenance.
I would never have an outing at cobblestone.
The range is terrible and so are the balls.
Keep on driving north and go to Barnsley Gardens.
Tough Winter
Many of the Atlanta golf courses are in less than stellar shape due to the tough winter. Cobblestone seems to be in worse shape than most I have played on (5 or 6 other local). With this it is cart path only which makes for a long day on this course. I would give it a few months to see if it can improve.
Great for the money
If you can play here for $45 or less it is an awesome deal. Greens and fairways are in great shape. Best around!
One of the best public courses around Atlanta.
Course was in a lot better shape last year. Some of the fairways have washed in a few places due to the amount of rain. Looks like there are issues with several of the greens. Overall a great place to play.
The course has been in better shape over the years. Cart path Only on all holes but I notice a group behind me with a guy wearing a tank top?????
Rates should go down if they are going to allow people to play in a tank top. Cart path Only is a joke with the hills and width of some of their fairways.
great layout
Except for having to play cart path only we had a good time. It was our first time to play this course so we did get into trouble sometimes. Will definitely play there again.
Course is in Horrible shape
I asked the rep at the pro shop before I booked and he said the course was doing well and recovering from a bad winter. He down played the condition of this golf course. This course needs t be taken over by a different company. The fairways are dirt on most holes and every green is damaged.
Great layout
Great course. I look forward to playing it again when in town.
Beautiful Course
The course is in pretty rough shape right now. The surrounding lake still make it one of the most beautiful courses to play. There is not much advantage playing the forward tees, so it is a challenge for us ladies.
Long way to go
Played on 5/8-Man in pro shop said recent weather had really helped course-Would hate to have seen it before-Fairways have significant winter kill-Greens are very thin and several are being re-sodded in areas-Played course back in fall and can't believe the decline-Other courses in area had same winter but all are in much better shape than Cobblestone-Will take a long time for course to recover-Right now, about a $20 course-
Horrible condition great layout
This course has suffered severely from the rough winter. It is in horrible shape. The fairways are bare in several spots and the greens have a lot of patches and new sod and sand. They made us keep it on the cart path even though it hadn't rained in several days. It has been several years since I played this course and it will be even longer before I play it again. Can't believe I paid $49 for that course!
Not What I expected
The course is challenging. It was cart path only so that made for a long day. I have to say it does not live up to the hype. The fairway were decent at best. Most of the greens had some portion of ground being repaired. I think given the conditions the price is a bit high. I would like to play it again to see if the conditions improve.
Greens under repair
I played yesterday in a 4some and they didn't tell us that all greens were under repair. It looks like they have a fungus, so this isn't going to be solved anytime soon or cheaply.
Used to be my favorite course
Apparently Cobbelstone staff was not able to combat the crazy weather conditions this year and the course shows this. This used to be my favorite course because it was always kept up and it's close to home. The driving range is beautiful but the entire course is destroyed. Not only the greens, but the fairways are horrible as well. I would not recommend to play this course this year untill they figure out the issues with the course.
Lost of hills
This course has lots of up and down hills. Very challenging course.
One of the best public courses in the Georgia.
I recently played Cobblestone for the first time in 25 years. They have made quite a few positive changes since I last played.
Cobblestone offers many opportunities for decision making. Such as, should I risk a driver, etc., and come up short in a bunker or water, or play safe and add other stroke.
Great course even tough it was a little wet
I'd heard this course doesn't drain well after it rains and I would agree it needs a little more drainage support. It's a quality course, which plays long even from the blues (6200 yards) on a wet day. Love the mounds on the fairway, which increases the difficulty of approach shots. Plenty of bunkers protecting the greens, so you need to carry onto most greens.
A good mixture of holes, many on the water. Greens were fast without being ridiculous.
Staff super friendly, course well maintained and one of my favorite courses to play when I'm able.
