Lone Tree Golf Course

About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

Fairway view with golden hills. Photo submitted by Jennifer2089857 on 09/28/2013
Greens were terrible, they would half to make a lot of improvement to play again. That’s to bad because I really in joy playing there.
Don’t do it.
Course is in horrible condition. I can handle brown fairways and even bad tee boxes but not bad greens!! They obviously don’t bother to take care of this course. The greens were the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve been to mini putt courses that are better!! Take your game to Brentwood or Rio Vista or even Pittsburg. Stay away from this course.
Horrible Conditions!!
Yep. There was a time just this last year when I said this is not too bad for the money but this time, I’d say don’t go there. The greens are 80% to 95% BROWN. I can’t blame them for.a very dry winter so far but Boy oh Boy! This course is for the most part brown!
This course has gone down hill
This course is in poor condition. Cut big trees down and look like they've been laying around for a long time. The greens are horrible.
Course in bad shape
Course in terrible condition. Greens hard, bumpy, patched, and real thin. Fairways awful. Very little sand in the traps. Have played here 20-30 times over the years and this is absolutely the worst condition I've seen this course. Round was fast, golf was cheap, weather was great, but conditions need improvement before I play here again.
Lone tree golf course is well layed out with some
elevated greens. Three new greens are faster than
the rest.
Course is in average (California) condition.
We arrived 15 minutes early, staff informed me that on line booking would not be let out early, despite the tee box being open.
Starter put out a threesome ahead of us leaving
the two of us 10 minutes late for our time and following that group(bad form).
Nothing more to say, other than we won't be
back.
Rough golf course
I have played this course in past use to be in decent shape can not say that now bad greens dry fairways bunkers have almost no sand they need to fix fix this golf course for me to return or recommend to others.
This place is a dump
First and last time for us..Bad attitude in the pro shop followed by the worst tee boxes and greens.
Lone tree gives muni courses a bad name.
We played Lone Tree at Noon as a twosome and,
probably due to weather forecast, we finished in
less than 4 hours (Good pace).
Elevated green, some mature trees, good views
from the front, course is in good condition.
Three new greens are faster than the established
green but puttable.
Worth the drive.
What happened
Lonetree used to be in good shape. Now it’s just in really bad condition. Some greens were like dirt. Some were so bumpy you could not get a true roll.its a ok place to practice your game, but I would rather play somewhere else because of the conditions of the course.
Love lone tree, But greens are poor!
Over a year ago the greens at Lone Tree were fantastic! Now they are poor. Whoever had the idea to have a different grass in the four greens that were repaired, had a bad idea... they’re terrible! You can’t get a feel for your putting, because all the greens are different. Most of the other greens have patches on them. Will not go back for a while even though I️ try to stay loyal to the local course
The course has 3 new greens and it's in
overall average condition due to current drought.
Greens were not fast, but very playable. Pace of
play was good, about 4 hours, we played at 12:00 noon as a threesome.
Good value for the money. If you go with an
online rate, don't show up early unless you plan
on hitting balls or practicing putting.
Not Bad
The course is starting to some browning in the fairways. The greens are cut nicely and getting some roll but also starting to show some brown spots but still not too bad and are still playable. The course is okay and still a good value.
Gel is not lying. Its the worst ive ever seen this course. They have just let it go.
