Lone Tree Golf Course

About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

Three greens have been re-done and the
overall course is good with a few bare spots.
Greens were mowed and rolled and firm but
not fast.
We played at noon and the pace was about
4 hours for a foursome.
Good value for the money.
getting better
Lone tree GC is constantly improving. There are some problems with the new greens but they will most likely disappear with maturity. And if the new greens do well as expected, all the greens will be changed. Overall the course is in good condition.
Lone Tree is in good condition and 3 of their
green were recently refinished. Pace of play
was good, finished in 4 hours as a threesome.
Great value, great fun
We really enjoyed our day at Lone Tree. The course is not in perfect condition, but definitely worth the time.
Not Bad
Golfers hear of how terrible the greens are but they have apparently repaired them and are definitely playable. There's some browning on most fairways but for the most part, playable. Don't expect country club niceness or challenge but for a nice practice round and with a little bit of a challenge with layout and length, this course is okay.
Love the course and surroundings! I have a great time playing a round with my family.
The staff could stand to be a bit more friendly, after all we did choose to come there and pay our hard earned money which in turn pays their salary.
Don't Play!!!!!
Terrible conditions!!! 3 holes were shortened because of issues with the greens. Their make shift greens had grass like a tee box, and holes that were 8x8 inch or so. No yardage markers on those holes either.
Fairways were either slop/water logged or bare, dead grass. Save your money and more importantly a horrible day golfing, which is hard to do. I wouldn't even give it1 star, honestly.
course review
Staff should have let players know about large groups
Marshalls needed to control pace of play
Players in group today abusing course not fixing ball marks driving near greens dragging feet on greens
Great course and staff to bad visiting players did not respect the course
Course greens being replaced
The price should have been reduced because of all the work being done on the golf course and greens being replaced we should've also been told that several greens would be closed and they would have temporary greens to give us the option of whether we would still play that course or not but certainly not at the regular golf now price other than that it was fine
Course Conditions
There was a few Temp holes set up on the course. Overall the fairways was in decent shape but a number of dry patches were littered though our the course. The Greens are being worked on and a standing ovation they are trying to keep up with the conditions. It's been a brutal summer and the old course is starting to show her age.
Overall the experience was nice and friendly. Staff made it a very pleasant experience and very accomodating.
Greens are under repair.
We teed off at 12:05pm and for a weekend, the course was pretty open. Tee boxes and fairways were average. However, the biggest complaint are the greens. They have a notice posted on the back of the carts that discuss their greens and how they are replacing 4 of them. They should be ready by September 21st. If everything goes as plan, they'll replace the other greens next Summer. In the meantime, they had 3 temporary greens and one green (#10) that played on the left side (alternate green) instead. Many of the other greens are playable, but not the greatest. Especially if you end up behind missing grass and putt through dirt. Our playing partners had this issue on #2 green.
I believe the biggest problem is there is no mention or notification of the issues occurring with the greens on either Golfnow when booking, or in the Pro Shop when checking in. I believe the course should be more open about their "work in progress" than just posting a note in the back of a cart. Many golf courses mention when they are punching (aerifying) their greens and even give discounted rates because of the "not so pristine conditions". So in my opinion, a better job being forthcoming with golfers will help.
Overall, we had a good time and the course is not as bad as others have reviewed. However, we got a great rate on Golfnow, so the expense was worth the visit (even in subpar conditions). The course is not worth over $25 at the moment, so I could also see why some golfers may have left negative reviews. Hope this helps other golfers make a decsion to play here. It's still worth it, just at a discounted rate.
Let the man through
Greens are slow. But you can see that they are finally trying to fix them. The geeens have been jacked up for quite some time now. some areas are soaked from a broken sprinkler or just bad drainage.
3 temporary greens
3 temporary greens, remainder are decent. "Warning " greet golf now customer in pro shop. Golf now customers are not allowed tee off early or have cart to their self. Just seems rude.
$ 7 for a pint of Sierra Nevada ? In Antioch.
Greens
I have played this course multiple times however there should have been a notation that the greens are under repair. Disappointing!!
Temporary Greens
Although the green fees were reasonable after 4pm i'm still quite disappointed that they do not maintain the putting greens. There were 3 temporary holes but did not provide temporary distance markers in the course.
Great experience
My son and I had a great time at Lone Tree. The staff were all pleasant, carts were ready for use and pro shop and grill had a lot to choose from.
