Greens punched this morning
Play today was fairly fast, and the summer light temperatures are beginning to dry out the fairways. So your drivers are gonna roll quite a few gopher holes doing some damage.
The greens were punched this morning, but not sanded so although there were holes in the green, it did not affect the speed of the ball, rolling on them. If they choose to sand the punch greens that will change significantly just be aware of these conditions we experienced.
Two or three of the greens had some significant dark patch damage. But those areas are small about the size of a hole. Not sure why they don’t just cut a hole and replace with Plug taken from the practice greens? It wouldn’t take much time.
Make sure you bring a bottle of water or two with you. There is no drinkable water on the course the water fountain water just tastes bad.
The Rough IS ROUGH!!!
For a course that does not have any water hazards it makes up for that by having really tall roughs that eat balls like a one-eyed dog in a meat house. And look out for the low rough because it has so many squirrel holes that your ball will easily and quickly disappear. Finally, go slow with your golf cart in that low rough or you’ll bounce your clubs right out of the back of your golf cart. These under maintained and high roughs make this course unusually challenging for the novice to intermediate players.
Course looking good can be better
This course is in better shape than many of the other local courses. Green’s especially well maintained. Fairways have some gopher mounds and holes. It would be nice if they put water coolers with ice water on the course. The water fountains taste terrible. Some day I hope they put good sand in the bunkers , right now most are hard dirt and unplayable. If they won’t add sand they should just throw soil in them and grass seed.
Great fun
The course was in much better shape and showed awesome maintenance. Strongly recommend playing at North Kern and it’s great staff.
Challenging
Great par 4 & 5! I think there are only three par 3. Very challenging courses we would definitely recommend to anyone.
Not a bad course.
The course was, for the most part, pretty well maintained. Some muddy areas, but it was expected with all of the rains. For the price, it is pretty hard to beat.
The whole course smells like cat poo
It was a fairly windy day and the smell of cat poop was so strong from all the stray cats around that we just left after 8 holes. 10/10 would not recommend to play here even on a hot deal
