Great value
The course is not extremely challenging but the GolfPass discount make this course a great value. Absolutely worth the $25 green fee that included the cart. They also have discounts most days of the week if you sign up for a daily text. The biggest issue I have with the course is driving the course anywhere but the path or middle of the fairway, my teeth get jarred out of my head due to gopher holes. I guess what that means is I should be better at golf and hit it in the fairway.
First Impressions
When I first arrived at the course I wasn't to thrilled about the layout. Inside the club house it looked like it needed a re-model. Old bathrooms, needs to be updated. The staff didn't smile or were very friendly.
The carts looked very used and dirty. As I started playing I was surprised that the Golf Course played very good. The Greens were consistent. I like the layout of the Course.
North Kern is a good place to play. They need to make you feel welcomed! Just a few changes need to be done.
Nice course but I’ve seen it look a lot better
Course is in good condition for the most part. But it’s not looking how it did in march and April which is understandable.
North kern
Good/fun course, friendly environment, course difficulty is medium not to hard not to easy
Was my Dad's favorite course
I play this course weekly, fairways are lush n short, greens are rolling nicely, the staff and vibe out there are very chill🤙🏽 playing North Kern is an all around great experience!
Greens are terrible, staff is unfriendly
The staff all seem like it’s the worst day of their lives. The greens are terrible, chunks missing, dead spots every where. The tee boxes are uneven. Should be a 20$ course
Greens punched this morning
Play today was fairly fast, and the summer light temperatures are beginning to dry out the fairways. So your drivers are gonna roll quite a few gopher holes doing some damage.
The greens were punched this morning, but not sanded so although there were holes in the green, it did not affect the speed of the ball, rolling on them. If they choose to sand the punch greens that will change significantly just be aware of these conditions we experienced.
Two or three of the greens had some significant dark patch damage. But those areas are small about the size of a hole. Not sure why they don’t just cut a hole and replace with Plug taken from the practice greens? It wouldn’t take much time.
Make sure you bring a bottle of water or two with you. There is no drinkable water on the course the water fountain water just tastes bad.
The Rough IS ROUGH!!!
For a course that does not have any water hazards it makes up for that by having really tall roughs that eat balls like a one-eyed dog in a meat house. And look out for the low rough because it has so many squirrel holes that your ball will easily and quickly disappear. Finally, go slow with your golf cart in that low rough or you’ll bounce your clubs right out of the back of your golf cart. These under maintained and high roughs make this course unusually challenging for the novice to intermediate players.
