Best Course Played All Week
Played 5 other courses during the week and this was by far the best. Many of the courses had brown or bare spots in the fairways, this one had none. Played the Classic 1&2. The tee boxes were in perfect condition and the fairways were generous. The greens were firm and true. The pace of play great . Finished in under 4 hours. Ice and water machine at the start and the turn. Cold towels. The carts had golf ball and club washers on them. No GPS though. Would definitely play again and recommend to everyone.
Bad Value
We were expecting a beautiful country club for $50 a player. The staff and the cart were the highlight of the round. The course was in good condition, but was too easy/boring. Would recommend playing $20 for Gary Player Course
Bermuda Dunes
Played 36 from the Blues (6400/70.5/126) on the Classic 1/Lake combo with Sparky14 in slightly more than 6H total using Under Par. The course was busy early, but thinned out after 10am. The weather was clear and in the high 90's with a little breeze.
18 solid holes of golf that kept things interesting as we made our way through mostly older but very nice homes. My 1st time playing the Classic 1 nine, which is probably the funnest of the three 9's IMO. The Classic 2 nine was closed for maintenance. Played the Lake 9 as I did my first time here. Not a tight course, most fairways have generous landing areas. Many mature trees surround the fairways that are often well bunkered. The green complexes were very traditional. Average in size and sloped from back to front, falling off to each side with few tiers to contend with.
The Bermuda tees were very good. Mostly level with few unfixed divots and lush coverage.
The Bermuda fairways were mostly very good with a few browned out areas. Very vice to play from overall.
The Bermuda rough was mowed low and excellent to play from. The ball often sat up like it was on a tee. You could often play longer clubs from the rough, not penal at all.
The sand traps were the only part of the course not well above average. Nicely maintained, but too thin.
The Bermuda greens were firm and putted medium fast. Few ball marks because of the firmness, and both approach shots and chips would run out.
The customer service was excellent. Quick efficient check-in and complementary range balls on the all grass range that is shorter clubs only. Restaurant closed and the pro shop closer early, but the course remained open. Overall, very fun course in very good condition. Definitely recommended.
Memorable experience
Great course which have always wanted to play since it was long on the PGA tour. Interesting and challenging holes, lots of elevation changes, slick greens. Great staff who offered us to play 27 holes. We got in 22 because a rare desert rainstorm chased us away. Would play it again in a second.
Bermuda Dunes
Played the Blues (6441/71.0/127) on the Classic 2/Lake combo with Mike in around 3 1/2 H. There were only a few other groups out, it was close to 115 with a little breeze.
This is not a tight course, most fairways have generous landing areas. Many mature trees surround the fairways that are often well bunkered. The green complexes were very traditional. Average in size and sloped from back to front, falling off to each side with few tiers to contend with. 18 solid holes of golf that kept things interesting as we made our way through mostly older but very nice homes.
The Bermuda tees were mostly lush, very good. Mostly level with few unfixed divots and good coverage, only the par 3's needed divot repair.
The Bermuda fairways were nice to play from overall. Mostly lush with a few browned out areas that they were actively watering.
The Bermuda rough was mowed down, you could often play longer clubs from the rough. Not high or overly penal, very playable.
The sand traps were very inconsistent depth wise. Many were crusty and had not been raked that day.
The greens putted MUCH better than they looked. Relatively smooth and medium fast. The Bermuda has not taken back over from the winter over seeded grass in spite of the extreme heat. They were VERY firm, hardly no ball marks and you needed to take the firmness into account even on short irons.
They close at 2 pm in the summer. The customer service was excellent, quick efficient check-in and complementary range balls on the range. No beverage cart, but they had plenty of water stations and offered wet towels that were very nice smelling. Recommended, very fun course in better than average summer condition.
Great Conditions and a Traditional Layout
I teed off on a Wednesday at about 9:00. The course has all the feel of an old, private Palm Springs country club. The layout is moderate in length, with very mature trees lining the fairways and well-placed bunkers. The fairways and rough were quite good for the middle of summer, and the greens rolled very well. The staff was friendly and welcoming to me as a non-member. I would definitely play again and recommend to others.
Nice Classic Golf Course
Nice course, Good condition. Firm greens, hard to hold the greens on longer shots. Recommend playing if you like older classic courses.
Very nice traditional course
The staff was excellent. The overall course was in excellent shape. The greens were Ok, but it is summer and they had been aerated within the last month.
Great course, but prices a little high
We played The "Lakes and Course #1. It was a very enjoyable round. I would love to play again but their prices are on the higher side so maybe not.
Has great features
Great time course was in great shape awesome greens
A True 5 Star Experience - One of the Best in the Valley!
Finally, a course that truly earns a 5 star rating! I have played several courses in the Coachella Valley that have 4 and 5 star ratings on this web site... So far, the Bermunda Dunes Country Club is the first course that truly earns this rating. Flat and well maincured tee boxes. Lush fairways and rough. Perfectly smooth and fast greens - but not too fast. And sand traps that are properly maintained!!! (Which is rare in the Coachella Valley). And a friendly staff to top it all off. The only thing that could possibly make these courses better would be to make them a bit more difficult - and possibly less expensive. But why would they "mess" with near perfection? You can pay more, but why would you?
50's/60's course is still on top!
I played Bermuda Dunes in 1965 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Tournament. I remembered holes 17 and 18 but surprisingly no others. A thrill to come back. Beautiful course with houses closer to the fairways on the Classic Front Nine than the Classic Back or newer nine. Conditions perfect and the greens are unbelievably tough due to the speed that has to be at least 11 1/2 on Stimp Meter. Still a treat after nearly 50 years!!!
This course is in excellent condition
The course is maintained well. The fairway bunkers typically don't come into play. But the green side bunkers make up for that.
Classic 1 & 2
Beautiful course, in great shape and excellent greens. The traps were groomed with the best sand I ever hit out of. Play was a little slow but no pressure from the folks behind us made it tolerable. Played from the blues (95) but if you want to stretch it out there we're 2 more boxes behind that. I thought the course was an OK value at a $120 round. It was the most expensive one I played that week. I'd do it again.
The conditions on this course are pristine
We were in awe of the conditions on Bermuda Dunes with the amount of play they get.
The greens rolled perfect, fairways are beautiful.
Unheard of Pace of Play
Two rounds in 5 hours 2 minutes. 36 HOLES!!! For the time of year, Sept 27, a few days before overseeding starts, the course was still in great shape. The greens were true, very flat, but the speeds were hard to gauge. Fairways were still green and like carpet. Bunkers were soft.
Cant remember the last time I played 36 holes without a person in front of us. Literally there was no one on the course.
Amazing round!
Nice golf course with alot of history
Nice course but the summer heat has it a little dry. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Played quickly because I was playing by myself in 110 degree heat. Would like to play this course during the season after overseeing.
Good layout, terrible condition.
This course needs serious work.....fairways, tees, bunkers, rough etc. Not close to worth the money charged for summer play.
Old School Classic
Its Bermuda Dunes what can I say? Classic old school country club style course with history. I played it in the heat of summer so greens were tough...slow, soft, previously punched and hairy. I would never say don't play this course, it makes you play every club in your bag at some point.
