Plenty of water, just not going on the fairways. Most bunkers were very muddy. Several had standing water in them at noon on a day when it was 86 degrees. Photo submitted by danstone360 on 07/25/2015

Teeboxes were a joke in nearly all cases. Photo submitted by danstone360 on 07/25/2015

Fairways were awful. Not because of the drought. This course has reclaimed water and it was very muddy in many places. Seems like their grounds crew is off for 2015. Photo submitted by danstone360 on 07/25/2015

Positive changes
The course, as always, is a fun course to play, greens rolling great, sandtraps are a disaster, but you can't have everything. They're adding a couple of simulator bays in the clubhouse, and are constructing a driving range on the old Diablo 1st fairway. Hopefully a putting green is coming also. Almost everytime I play here, the owner is on site and is always enthusiastic and excited to show off the improvements. Pace of play was great, our foursome finished in 4 hours.
A Good Time, But Slow
I always enjoy Brentwood GC because I like the layout and the kindness of the workers in the pro shop. With the hot weather, the course conditions are caught between a rock and a hard place...if you don't overwater then the course burns up. If you overwater too much, then you have tons of mud and wet spots. The latter was the case this time. The course was pretty soggy, but not enough that it ruined the round. I appreciate their efforts at keeping the course green! The one thing that did ruin the round, was the twosome that was playing in front of us. To say they were slow is an understatement. They actually held up our foursome, and three other foursomes behind us. It was ridiculous, and we came to find out that they were each playing TWO BALLS. Etiquette is not just a high-scoring word in Scrabble. A marshal was definitely needed. I feel that it's not our place to confront other golfers on their speed of play. I really like playing Brentwood and will definitely return. I hope the pace of play issues will be resolved.
Good value
I have played this course a few times now, always worth the drive.
I’ll definitely come back to play at Brentwood golf course !
Excellent course for the price we pay! The staff is amazing , the restaurant also ! Definitely coming back to play here !
Getting better
The course has a long way to go but is trending in the right direction. There are a couple of holes that need serious work. If you want to get some practice in it is great for that. The course layout is not bad.
No improvement
Got a deal in Golf Now for $45. There were 2 fivesomes ahead of us that played liked turtles. What courses other than a country club/private allow this to happen? We skipped 2 holes where it was wide open and then went back and played the 2 holes we skipped at the end.
But let's talk about the course.
Tees: fair
Fairways: fair with some areas actually saturated from over watering and poor drainage
Bunkers: crappy hard pan and Rocky and unkept
Greens: in great shape outside of lazy people not fixing their marks.
No water in ball washers and no towels
Yellow carts are farm carts and not really designed for golf, but it stayed charged for the round.
The original design of this course is nice, but the reconfigured par 5 14th green is simply embarrassing. Zero chance of holding this asphalt, postage stamp, turtle back green with a long 2nd shot. The transition to the 15th tee is a joke, where many players make the mistake and hit from the 13th tee boxes since they are backed up to each other.
If your intent is to get a round of golf in, this works. If you're looking for a quality course, this one falls short.
didn't play
woke up in the morning with a painful strep throat, so that ended my desire to golf. went back to sleep until 2p.m., well past my tee time.
Brentwood course was subpar. New golf cart were so bad for yourvback. Owner sunk to new low with the carts
Not in PGA regulation
Course has some holes that are ok but overall not worth your time much better courses .The area for the same price they recently changed some holes that makes the course not in regulation any longer
bunkers awful
Only a few things wrong with this course
1- Bunkers just dirt both times I have played there. Are they ever going to put proper sand in them?
2- Pace of play was slow because there are no marshalls to tell the slow players to speed up. Group in front of us actually pulled out a tape measure on a par 3 to see who won whatever $ they were betting! Also played black tees then spent time searching for their balls. When will they ever learn?
3- NO DRIVING RANGE or PUTTING GREEN to warm up. I have been to courses that put up a net with some pads at a minimum.
Conditions have been consistently improving. Fairways in great shape. Greens are reading true.
