It'll do...
For a public course, this course is OK. What pains us here in Brentwood, is this is the only public course around for a few miles. The fairways are patchy and sandy - a good drive down the middle could still land you in a sandy spot with no grass. tee boxes for the ladies are slapped down in random locations with no regard. Tee boxes with crab grass in them grabbing the club face. Greens are hit or miss - some bumpy, some slow, some fast -- just put it straight and pray.
If they're going to charge as much as they do, during covid, and not re-invest it into getting a course up to par - more and more people are going to go elsewhere and we will lost another golf course in brentwood.
No range or place to warm up. Dining is all but non-existent. Other courses have their full menus up but here... not so much.
Not worth it for the price at the moment.
Not so bad
Yes there are some things that can be improved on the golf course but the greens were nice and the staff was super friendly in the clubhouse.

Aeration
Per the other reviewer. No advance notice on website or in making the reservation on the phone that they were aerating the greens. Even the Greenskeeper website didn't know about it. I liken it to the old "bait and switch." One thing is advertised that sounds like a good deal, but when you get there its not in stock and you have to buy something inferior. This is called informing your customers in advance, how hard can it be?

Unbelievable..
I played their 9 hole Diablo course and let me tell you, it is in unbelievably bad shape. They tell you not to review the course because it is undergoing renovation but I didn’t see a single hint of any reno. Fairways are extremely overgrown (photo below and yes that really is the fairway) 40% is dirt and the rest crab grass, greens were fuzzy and crazy slow, tee boxes were destroyed and the ponds were cesspools if not completely dry. This would have been fine if they were honest about doing renovations which they clearly are not. On top of that still charging $25 on the weekday?! I remember long ago playing the course for $15 when I great condition.

Made my reservation on Tuesday, showed up for my 8:30, and learned that they were in day 2 of greens aeration.....sayonara.....would have been nice for this info to be a part of the online reservation process.

Course conditions
I used to love playing out here, unfortunately the upkeep of the course has really gotten away from them. There is a lot of dirt and not much grass, tee boxes are a struggle to find a good spot to tee up. I noticed all of the trash cans were full and each hole had several 10-20 cans and trash all around because of the overflow. Most bunkers have no sand, not sure if they are re doing them or if this is how it is now. Also I don’t believe that $50 to play out here is a very good deal considering the conditions. I hope they can get this course back to its full potential like the good ole days. On a positive note the greens were not that bad.

I have Hope !
I feel terrible for the home owners who bought their homes as an investment thinking that the course would add value to their homes. Even though several several courses have closed in the area the additional revenue has not helped here. This course looks and plays like a cow pasture. I’m hoping for better days for this course, the residents and home owners deserve better.

Poor condition
I’ve played this course too many times to count, When this facility first opened it was a very nice facility, great layout nice greens and a good value. My regular foursome used to love playing here, That’s all gone now!
I have played nearly every course in Northern California, they should be ashamed of themselves for charging 50+ dollars to play here. I don’t care how they try to justify it , it just ain’t worth It, , it’s like asking 100k for a Volkswagen , I keep hearing that new ownership has taken over and is fixing things up, we’ll see! After 1-1/2 holes this morning I turned around and played the diablo nine. Sign out front said Diablo nine under renovation please do not write a review. I didn’t see any signs of renovations other then heavy watering in some areas, but in my opinion it’s in far better shape of the first two holes I saw on creekside/hillside. I will wait until next spring to try once more, if they don’t bring it back to decent shape then never again

Will never play here again
It is a shame as you can tell this used to be a nice course. It is more dirt than grass. Driving range is a mat and a net. Took us 6 hours to play the round. Won’t be back.

Brentwood golf
I like the fact that new players are playing golf. It’s a bad look when players are playing in jeans and T-shirts though. The course has been lax on these issues. They should catch this right when players check in.

Poor Conditions
The course was over saturated with sprinkler water. Most fairway shots were like hitting out of a marsh. If you were lucky enough to miss the fairway, you had to hit off hard-packed dirt. No first cut or preferred line to the green.
Off the course registration and cart selection were fine due to covid measures. Don't bother eating after the round though. 3 selections to choose from, pre-made ham sandwich, pre-made turkey sandwich, or a hot dog.
Did not finish the last 4 holes as groups were stacked st the tee boxes due to slow play.
Very unfortunate especially considering that 3 other courses in the area are closed. You would think that this course would take advantage of the opportunity and have presitne conditions.
Playing Lone Tree this weekend, not sure if I will return here again.

Taking "Only course in town" to the limits.
Since reopening after the COVID closing the Brentwood Golf Course has raised the rates 25% and done nothing to improve either the pace of play or the course conditions. On the positive side, the greens are generally quite good, rolling smooth although generally slow. On the negative side, other than the barren fairways and no sand in the bunkers, the tee boxes are overrun with something akin to weeds, when there is growth on the tee area.
I really would like to support this course as it's a fun layout but the cost and conditions have caused me to travel 30-50 miles to play nicer and better kept courses for equal or less rates.
