Los Lagos at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club

I like this course a lot. Would play here more often but it’s a little a little tough to get a tee time without being a member. It’s a solid value and course conditions are always good. The one issue I have here is pace of play. Ive played here around 10 times and I can’t remember if I’ve ever had anything under a 5 hour round. They’re usually backed on the first tee and the pathetic thing is that they have a starter. I played yesterday and it was a disaster. They were 30 minutes behind and 4 groups waiting on the first tee. Inexcusable imo. Other than the staff not being on top of things and more organized, the course itself is very enjoyable.

Great round for the price. Tee off early to beat the back ups that cause long rounds. Course Marshalls could do a better job controlling traffic. Tee’s off a little after 7 and was done in 4 hours.

3 hours to play the first 9. 3 foursomes waiting to tee off at 2, 3, and 4. Took 20 minutes to play the first Par 3. Ridiculous. Will NEVER play again. 4 hours to play 12 holes then it got dark. They need to get their business together.

Too many beginner players playing as fivesomes. Course needs Marshalls to help move play along.

It seemed like there could be something done in getting the foursomes in front of about 8 foursomes' . They ere the ones holding up play . Or perhaps just puting groups to close together. I've been playing this course for 40 years, this was the worst. I would only recommend this course with the caveat , very slow play.

Set my tee time through golfpass or gold now whatever, because that's what the course uses. The confirmation for a tee time didn't go through fast enough and you seriously need to wake up at 5:59am a week before to get a tee time at a decent time. Since I got no confirmation I set up another tee time. Not ongoing I had two tee times. I showed up. Played my round. It was the weekend after my borthday sp like a good friends i have they paid my round. A month after the round. Costa mesa went into my account and took out the full cost of a four person round. When I called to explain they said take it up with golf now. Golf now called them explained the situation and they said charge him. The guys name was Pete. I tried calling them again and they refused to refund me because they said I need to cancel my teetimes. For that I have not returned and I will not. No one in my group goes there anymore. We changed courses until they fix this situation. This used to be our home course. And out of all the people I play with. Im the only one that cancels tee times. These guys say they never do, and yet they never got charged either.

Rental clubs: when looking through clubs it showed 2 fw3, 2 9irons but no driver and no 6iron. After some confusion this was fixed. Driver off first tee and picked up 6iron. I have not in many years seen a dirtier club. Looking through all clubs the only clean club was the putter. No towel on bag to clean clubs. Both me an my party/wife had dirty clubs. This was not what I expected when paying for rental clubs.

Pace of play: we waited at every hole, and many times during the holes also. We shere a party of 4..This was sell below expectation.

This is my "home course" and I like everything but the pace of play. Too many large groups put out too close together and usually no marshal to speed up slower groups.

Was my home course. Then when I double booked one day because I didn't see the email confirmation and times go quick. I booked another. Then a month after my round they straight deducted 256 from my account. I always would call and cancel if needed. Then when I tried to talk to them about it. I got the run around between golf now their online services and there golf shop. Very upset that I carry my handicap with them and was my home course. Haven't played there since. Won't go back till solve the problem. Was very disappointed to call them a home course after the issue.

First, thanks to the pro shop for getting me into an earlier slot than my original 2PM time. I chose to walk because I read previous reviews about pace of play. I don't know why anyone would bother paying for a cart when walking is just as effective. Course management is booking way too many tee times. It took nearly 3 hours to finish the first 9 on Mesa Linda. I quit after 14.

5 1/2 hour round, greens were punched but had no idea till the first green. I really do love both courses here but the pace is just to slow. Marshall wasn’t doing anything to help. Really should consider more adamant spacing for tee times instead of focusing solely on the dollar. Really is a shame

The group in front of us was taking 20 min per hole AnD no help from the Marshall if there was one. The group in front of us didn't understand playthings and by the time they got to the turn the two holes in front of them were empty. Good course otherwise. Here's a shout out to the cool guys in the pro shop who endured a horrible rant by the starter wearing a red jacket who pulled his cart up the window and for 5-6 long minutes gave an obscenity laced shout out through the proshop window with F bombs and more, in ear shot of 30 people. He even came back for a 2nd beat down 15 min later. Totally inexcusable, and really showed bad for a pretty well organized operation minus NOT having a Marshall fix slow play in front of. My group ran out of time and patience and left after 8 holes and wasted a lot of money, and time. We couldn't endure 10 more holes of getting ice cold between swings.

Title says it all. 3.5 hours to play 9 holes. Course was in good enough condition, what you would expect from a muni. If you have 6.5 to 7 hours to play a round of golf then it could be an enjoyable course. Was hoping this day was a one off but from talking to other players this is the norm and they didn’t seem to find it that appalling.
