Mesa Linda at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club

First of all both courses at Costa Mesa are always in great condition and enjoyable to play

Yesterday was ridiculous. We had 3 fivesomes in front of us and I saw other fivesomes through the course.. we had 5 groups backed up on every par 3 on the front and it took 3.5 hours to play the front 9. We chose to quit after 11 holes. For reference we teed off at 1:18pm and walked off the 11th green at 5:42pm

Not once did we see a Marshall outside of the first tee.

I could see backups everywhere.. I’m still amazed that the course chose to put so many fives ones out around the same time. There should never be a 30 minute wait to hit a shot. Very disappointing to say the least.

I tried ignoring some of the reviews staying optimistic that maybe, just maybe, it was a bad day. No, it is a thing! That was the busiest golf course I have ever seen. Two courses, putting green, chipping green, and driving range all sold out on a Friday afternoon. That need a new scheduling system or new scheduler to manage pace of play. Fortunately the marshal came out and cleared out two five sum in front of us. Back nine moved fast but day was gone.

It is also one of the longest courses I’ve played with 5 par fives. Driver got a work out!

Best part was getting matched up with some good dudes and had fun even with ridiculous wait time.

If I could only attach a photo of third hole with 8 carts stacked up and waiting.

They overbooked. Four groups stuck at many holes. No Marshalls managing the pace. Carts are old. The starter is the most unfriendly human being in the planet. No bathrooms on course.

I played for 2 1/2 hours and got to the start of the 3rd hole. The timing on this course is god awful. No Marshall to help pacing! It’s a free for all out here. Wanna 20 tee shots? Go ahead. Wanna hit 4 balls every hole? That’s the preferred way to play this course! Come here if you have 10 hours to waste and go do whatever you want!

A lot of players played. A kind of busy day took the almost 5 hr 40 min to get the 18 holes. No 4th par 3 hole had backed up 4 teams. It’s a terrible .

3 par 5's on the front! Bring the big dogs you'll need ot! Long but very fair course. Very enjoyable round.

Course was in beautiful shape…the fairways, greens and traps. Even the tee boxes are near perfect. Pace of play on the front 9 was brutal, as we were behind two groups of ladies who were walking but it opened up on the back 9.

It was my first time playing this course. Great course! Well kept up and beautifully manicured! Really slow pace of play but still a great round on a great course! I will be returning because it’s a great course and super affordable

Tee time was at 9:23 am and ended up starting at 9:55 due to backlog and 5 some groups going out. Course is OK but pace of play is brutal. Ended up being 6 hour round on a Monday. Not sure if this is the normal situation but no one seemed to care working or playing. Most of the players seemed to seniors getting the local city/senior discount rate.

Good course. Good playing conditions. Just wish the rough wasn’t as rough. It’s brutal there you can lose balls even if you know their vicinity because the rough’s grass is so tall. But it’s part of golf the rough should have some tough lies overall the playing conditions of this course are really good

Let’s say I expected a 5 hour round but one hour thirty minutes for three holes in crazy. Asked to get a voucher refund anything as the pace of play was outrageous. After hole one there was a back up of 4 groups plus us. Was given a business card to call and complain as the tee shop was uninterested in helping fix the situation. I don’t suggest playing here during busy times unless you want to play a 7 hour round
