Unenjoyable Round
This is by far the most unenjoyable round of golf I have ever played. First, the pace of play was terrible. The round took 6 hours! We waited nearly 10 minutes on every hole. When the marshal came by, he joked, "Every group thinks they're not the slow group" as if the wait was unavoidable. But that's not true. Anyone can see that the slow group is the one that has no one in front of them because they are playing slow! Shrugging it off as if there is nothing that can be done is a failure on the part of the course and its staff.
Second, the group behind us yelled and screamed at the top of their lungs on every hole. It could easily be heard by anyone in front of them or behind them, and by the marshals and drink cart staff on the course, and yet, no one did anything about it. They also hit into us three times while we were waiting on the group in front of us (who was also waiting on the group in front of them).
I can appreciate that it is difficult for a course to monitor the behavior of its customers and enforce rules, but the failure to do so ruins the experience for other customers who paid just as much and are following the rules. Other courses seem to manage it just fine, but Enagic seems to have no interest in it whatsoever. This course used to be a go-to for me whenever I was looking to play an enjoyable round with friends, but never again. Complete waste of money.
Recommended Track to play
I’ve played this course many times, you can tell a lot of work have gone into the up-keep. Nice to hit a Fairway & your 2nd shot is off some good turf. Greens have improved, rolling trough for the most.
Amazing course layout!
Super friendly staff, Tom at the pro.Shop was wonderful greeting the first time golfer to this golf club.
I find this to be one of the most challenging courses in San Diego County.
Golf carts, golf course, all amenities in pristine condition.
I highly recommend this golf course!
Twosome
Went out today and was paired with another single. Plenty of Carts and not busy at all. Was asked to ride with the other single and no if and buts about it! Really shocked we could not get our own cart and it was mid afternoon mid week play. If it was weekend or even Friday but common. The kids working the front kept referring to manager rules. I asked to speak to the manager but was not available
Slow Play
Nice course layout & great staff interactions. Pace of play was abysmal on a Saturday. 5 hours to play 15 holes, then had to pull out to make to other commitments. Played here once before & enjoyed. Not sure why we piled up on every hole.
Always a fun and challenging course
This course always has fantastic greens, a challenging layout and friendly staff. The only issue is the pace of play. Did not see one Marshall put the home day, had a group in front of us completely hammered by hole 4. Made for a 6 hour round.
The two groups in front of us played extremely slow. The Marshall came by several times, and we even told him about the slow play, but he never talk to the two groups. Very disappointing, especially since he watched them playing slow and didn’t address it.
Hard line
Very unhappy with the new owner and the attitude he conveys to players. The old Eastlake was a friendly course with nice staff. The new attitude that is conveyed to the public is less than friendly. I made a reservation thru golfnow for a 12:00 tine. I arrived early to hit some range balls and found the course empty. The starter informed me we could start early if we wanted. However after checking with the proshop we were told that because we booked our round thru golfnow we would have to wait until noon to tee off. The starter was apologetic and told me it came from the proshop.
Stop Overbooking
Played Enagic yesterday on Good Friday (3/29/2024).
Range: Balls are decent. Hitting surface is a continuous piece of artificial turf.
Practice Area: There are two putting greens, one large circle and the other a longer rectangular shape (closed). The chipping area is relatively small, a bunker and small green.
Course: For the most part, the entire course was in good shape. Greens were firm and consistent. It would be helpful if golfers repaired their own divots. There are some bare spots around the course that should be marked ground under repair. I find the course to be a challenging setup depending on what tee box you choose to play from.
Staff: Always nice, friendly, and willing to assist.
Pace of Play: Was atrocious?!?! Started at 11:45 and finished five & a half hours later. Waited on every single hole. The other twosome left after finishing the Par 5 14th hole. They didn’t expect to be this slow and had dinner plans. Not sure why, but Enagic also roped off a section of the landing area on EVERY hole requiring golfers to walk to their balls and/or drive their carts around. Makes sense to protect the course from damage when it’s wet or raining, but the course was dry and no rain forecasted till Saturday (roped areas have been there all week). In closing, you can only blame some of the slowness due to poor golfers, but this was obviously a case of overbooking. Nothing ruins a good round worst than slow play.
Not for everyone
the course looks beautiful. The fairway and greens are very well kept and maintained. hey do enforce the collar shirt rule, EVEN on the range.
The marshal is constantly rushing you, which makes it less enjoyable. The fairways are nice, but narrow. If you hit your ball out of the fairway, good luck finding it. The grass is too tall and we lost balls that were hit near the fairway. I think this attributes to some slow play. People waste a lot of time looking for a ball that should be easy to find. There are some holes that have a wide field of play. The carts are nice. They have GPS and course information on them, and the ability to Bluetooth. However, we have found that the break lock does not work on most of the carts, so park the cart with tires tuned to the curb. You can find similar courses, for a cheaper cost.
