Steele Canyon Golf Club - Canyon/Vineyard
About
Steele Canyon Golf Club in Jamul offers three unique nines: Canyon, Vineyard, and Ranch. Gary Player designed all 27 holes, which are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The courses are considered some of the best golf in southern California. The Canyon/Vineyard combination starts with dramatic elevation changes and then transitions into the subtler nuances of the Vineyard nine. The hilly front nine demands accuracy and golfers should be prepared for some uneven lies. The Vineyard nine doesn't get any easier either with several water hazards and many holes that play directly into the prevailing winds. The Vineyard's sixth hole is one of Steele Canyon's hardest. This lengthy par 5 measures 582 yards from the back tees and requires a forced carry over a dry creek bed on your third shot.

Great pace of play on this course
The starter the people inside the pro shop are very friendly and accommodating as always. I enjoyed my round. Very nice pace of play conditions were excellent. I like everything about Steel Canyon.
Great course
Really nice course. Good friendly staff and in really good condition. Definitely would play it again and recommend to any friends.
Good Condition
Course was in good condition with greens that held the ball.
Pace of play
We went off with no groups 2 holes ahead of us. By hole 13 we were waiting on group ahead of us. For next 5 holes the wait got longer and two foursomes caught up to us. There were no groups ahead of the foursome ahead of us. By hole 17 we received a warning in our cart that we were behind pace by 20 minutes. The last hole took nearly 30 minutes to play. Only as we drove up to the green did we see a Marshall, who just waved. When I asked about the glacial pace of play, he said it was hot out and we were almost done with our round. What??
I really enjoyed playing this golf course, but this was a very disappointing. Marshall’s need to keep up pace of play.
1st Time
The staff were wonderful! The conditions were perfect! The course is in fantastic shape!
Great course with fast greens!
Book this course and you'll enjoy it. Played it with a several members and had a great time. Greens are fast but fairways are lush and the canyon views are awesome. Pace of play is great! would def play here again!
Very challenging
First time playing there, very challenging but a fun Course to play.
Not a great experience
Course conditions poor - like many average municipal courses .
Beautiful but tough course
The views were stunning but it was quite a challenge. Loved all the multi level holes. There was no starter and I had to talk to the cart guys to figure out where to go but overall a really good experience.
