Good for the value
I played this course the morning after it rained. Overall I thought this course was in great shape. There were a couple of dead spots in the fairways and some places in the rough with standing water from the previous nights rain. The greens were a challenge. Fairly tough to read and very quick. I had good interactions with the staff and would recommend this course to most people who enjoy golf. I feel it was a great welcome to the southern style (and grass) of golf and it was a very good value for my money.
Great Greens, Friendly Staff
I played this course for the first time. As a moderately good golfer, it was quite a challenge with fast greens and very natural slopes. The par 3s prove to be quite easy while the back nine plays narrow and longer. Definitely a course you can score on with a decent short game.
The pro shop is also very nice, with a good selection of food and drinks, and some very nice shirts to choose from. Golf ball prices looked to be competitive with most stores.
The staff was very friendly. I believe the young man at the front was named Michael, and he was very polite and helpful. He asked me if this was my first time here and offered to help me find my way around the carts and the first tee. All the staff had a smile on their faces.
Definitely recommend and definitely had fun!
Good Public Course
Good, challenging course for average player. However, in the middle of our round, they started treating the greens. Had to play the last 7 holes with sand on the greens. No one in the clubhouse told us that they would be treating the greens that day. Before treating, the greens and fairways were in very good condition.
North Fulton review
crowded course and pace was a bit slow. Still a good value and course is challenging due to tightness and pin placement.
North Fulton - great value
Love playing North Fulton, especially with a 7 a.m. tee time. Get out, get the round done and home before noon. Even though the front-half of the greens had been aerated and sanded, the putting area on the blue pin placements were all in very good shape.
Greens were in very good shape
I hadn't played here in years. In good condition for the money.
US Open greens
This course has a nice layout. For the most part open fairways. The elevations on some of The challenge came on the greens. The greens were running at least 12 and they were very firm. It was very hard getting a ball to hold which made it very challenging. If you think you can handle US Open greens try your luck at North Fulton .
Tactical
Good course for the price. fairways in good conditions. Greens were very firm on account of a couple of very hot days prior to. Speed and slope of greens made every approach shot extremely important. Couple par 3's with serious birdie opportunities. Overall, a solid round.
Course in great shape!
This course has a great lay out. Very fun to play with some challenges but also lots of opportunity to score. Bunkers and fairways were flawless. Greens were a bit sandy but still very smooth and I holed many moderate putts with no bouncing etc. Rolled very true and not tons of slope so there are putts to be made here. I will say my 9 holes were finished in 2 hours but thats because I teed off at 6:00am and played the back nine(the best nine). Cost was $17. This course gets way too busy during prime time hours and rounds can take 5 plus hours when it is like that. However if you can get out early in the morning it is money. I played 9 before work and was clocked in by 8:20am.
FYI - No driving range but they do have a practice green for putting. Also I feel like the yardage markers are on the short side. I think the 150 marker is really about 142 or so on most holes so if you think you should hit a full nine iron and the yardage marker says easy eight iron, go with full nine. Also the forced carry on 17 is must hit. With the down slope the driver will carry the creek and leave about mid iron in to a small green. Great eagle opportunity here. Missed mine by about an inch today.
All in all I love to play this course, However be wary of busy hours. They stack tee times up a little too close and there a lot of hackers out there as well.
Old Classic
A nice old course with a wide variety of holes. Quite hilly in some spots with a couple of poorly designed holes. Overall worth the cost and effort to play this one.
Nice course
Started out slow , but once got thru the 1st 4 holes the pace sped up. Enjoyed the course
Great public course
I don't know what the negative comments were for in the reviews I read. This course is in great shape for a public course. The pace of play for such a busy course was stellar. People were crawling all over this place but the wait time was next to non existent. I would play this course again in a heart beat.
Parking is an issue as you must park on the street or in a dirt lot. You can drop your bags first though.
Ignore the negative comments and check this place out to get your own opinion.
Decent Course, Slow Pace
Everytime I go to North Fulton on weekends it's packed, they have little regard to pace of play here, they just cram as many people on the course as possible. Had a 9am tee time, didn't get out until 9:30 and off 18 around 2:30. This makes the experience less enjoyable but not awful. Its a nice course, greens were good when we went, fairways were ok, bald spots here and there. Staff was friendly. No driving range and a couple laughable putting greens. All in all it's ok for the price but I think I'll play Bobby next time.
Great course but slow play
We really enjoyed the course layout, greens in good shape and a good value. Also the setting in chastain park is really appealing? But the slow pace of play was disheartening, we were in a foursome and could see two threesomes in front of us and all groups waited on every shot. Really could use some Marshall's and this was a Tuesday morning!
Weekend at Atlanta
Great layout, elevation changes are nice change from where I usually play.. Located in the center of Chastine Park in Buckhead, very scenic .
Hole placement
North Fulton is a solid course, the greens are in great condition. This course is very convenient to play, easy to get to if you live in town and I would suggest it to anyone living in the Atlanta or surrounding area.
For where it's located the course is nice
For where this course is located I would consider it a good value. I played in the middle of the week and it was crowded. I could only imagine this place on the weekend. All in all I enjoyed the course.
Great day horrible rate of play
The weakest her was awesome, but the rate of play was horrible. I wish that they would have the ambassadors out on the course moving the slow players along. I know it's a public course, but almost 5 hours to finish on a Thursday afternoon with a 2:00 tee time is a bit ridiculous. The course condition was the best it's been though and I will be back on Sunday with my buddies.
