Ok Course
I have been playing here for 40+ years. Layout is decent with a couple of challenging holes. The history and designers of the course are very interesting and make it fun to play. However it is extremely overpriced. You can find a much better course at better price in may areas of metro.
Good - But...
Overall, the course was enjoyable to play. Not the most challenging course, but in good condition and well kept. Greens were challenging as all had more than one slope to them and all were very fast on the downhill. Only downside to this course is that there isn't a driving range for warm-up. I will play there again.
Not in good shape and not friendly staff
Course was pretty beat up in a lot of spots, wouldn't call most of the green fringes "fringes", and they were re sodding one hole that had been turned into a par 3. Lots of staff but none of them were very friendly or helpful.
North Fulton
We were the third group off the first tee on Sunday morning. We teed off 20 minutes late and the round took 5 hours! I would expect when I sign up for "Fast Play" the play is fast. The course sends the nine hole people off #10, so it slows down significantly when you make the turn.
North Fulton Course
Although they're reconstructing the cart path on #3, the course and greens were in great shape. The pace was somewhat slow though.
Good public option near the city
Too many reviews of Atlanta courses mention great public options around town. As an out of towner, most that I found looked to be about 1+ hour in travel distance. I realize that in Atlanta this may be reasonable, but when I wanted to get in one more round before my flight it didn't work. This course was a good option without being too far away. Not an extremely tough test (128 slope I think), but conditions were reasonable. A little pricey for what you are actually getting, but not bad.
Pace of play was painful
They had diffinetly overbooked the course. The pace of play on the front nine was 3 hrs. The course is badly in need of major drainage work, fairways were wet (cart path only) even though it hasn't rained in several days.
Geat layout, especially for a muni
Geat layout, especially for a muni - once home to a pro tour event, some seventy years ago. Hilly, with elevation changes. Scenic setting in neighborhood park. Conditions are typically pretty good, course is typically pretty crowded. #18 is one of tougher par 4s anywhere.
This course has serious pace of play problems
I have played this course many times, and I have never teed off on my actual tee time. They do not regulate tee times/groups at all, and the first tee is always backed up. We waited behind six groups to tee off on number one. The first tee is not the only problem though. We were on the course for 5 hours and only got through 16 holes.
cvs review
Course condition needs serious attention. I and my playing partners will not return nor recommend this course in the future.
Good value for the money
This course is one of the nicer in town courses and is a great value for the price
In a pinch
Greens keeper place cup in unreasonable spots for the speed of greens. On 12 and 18, I putted from below the cup, my ball stopped within 6 inches of cup, then rolled back off the green.
Don't know why people like this course???
As an Atlanta native, I understand that is one of the earlier city courses, but beyond that, I have interest in returning to this course. I don't believe there is a single near-level lie out there beyond some of tee boxes. On top of that, of the four times I have played here, the greens are very fast with dome-like greens where hole placements at its peak like a volcano. Unless North Fulton plans to give away a U.S.Open trophy after every round, I am not interested in playing gimmick golf.
Worse round ever
The course was in great condition. However, we were stuck behind "regulars" whom the ranger would not push along. The course was wide open but it took 5hrs to play because these bums thought they were at East Lake playing for the Players Championship.
Nice Layout
The course has a great lay out and requires players to work the ball in both directions.
One thing to pay attention to is the landing areas.
Greens were very fast and hard throughout the round.
Great Course
I've played this course literally 100's of times. I contend it is one of the best courses in Atlanta and it never gets old. Almost every hole can "bite" you and I believe the course plays longer than it's length. Overall, North Fulton will challenge you as a golfer and the scenery is not so bad either.
Good course
Course and facilities are a good value for the money. Especially if you score tee times later in the afternoon. Service is hit or miss. Clerks at the counter are rude at times, and not the most service minded employees. I go for the golf though, and the course offers a good variety of settings to help with your game.
Good for the value
I played this course the morning after it rained. Overall I thought this course was in great shape. There were a couple of dead spots in the fairways and some places in the rough with standing water from the previous nights rain. The greens were a challenge. Fairly tough to read and very quick. I had good interactions with the staff and would recommend this course to most people who enjoy golf. I feel it was a great welcome to the southern style (and grass) of golf and it was a very good value for my money.
Great Greens, Friendly Staff
I played this course for the first time. As a moderately good golfer, it was quite a challenge with fast greens and very natural slopes. The par 3s prove to be quite easy while the back nine plays narrow and longer. Definitely a course you can score on with a decent short game.
The pro shop is also very nice, with a good selection of food and drinks, and some very nice shirts to choose from. Golf ball prices looked to be competitive with most stores.
The staff was very friendly. I believe the young man at the front was named Michael, and he was very polite and helpful. He asked me if this was my first time here and offered to help me find my way around the carts and the first tee. All the staff had a smile on their faces.
Definitely recommend and definitely had fun!
Good Public Course
Good, challenging course for average player. However, in the middle of our round, they started treating the greens. Had to play the last 7 holes with sand on the greens. No one in the clubhouse told us that they would be treating the greens that day. Before treating, the greens and fairways were in very good condition.
Well it was the day of their Club Championship so...
Not sure about bums bud...
