Nice course very nice staff
Nice course and very friendly staff but avoid to go to the restaurant. There you find an aggressive and always angry old woman who can just start to scream at you without any reason.
When I was talking about it many other people said the same thing about her.
I just don’t get it why she is allowed to continue work there and sabotage the reputation of the course.
Usually play mid week here so the 4 hour and 45 minute round was less to be desired. On the group in front of us most of the day and had playing partners with very long pre shot routines. Fun time had. Definitely a lot more burnt out fairways than a month ago. Sand in bunkers was a tad firm but playable. The 16th green was in bad shape. Other than that they rolled ok but a bit on the slow side. The break you saw wasn’t what it seemed on most putts.
Perfect Golfing day! 18-holes done in about 4 hrs
Maybe it was the weather that kept people away from the course but the pace of play was awesome. 4-some finished in about 4 Hrs.
No wait on the tee in most of holes.
Weather got better towards the back 9 so made it better...
Love all city courses as their condition are much better than other courses that charges almost the double.
Greens were slow as was the pace of play
Overall, very nice. Rough was high, but thats what happens when you don’t stay on the fairways. Greens were very nice. A bit slow, but you were able to attack the cup. Pace of play was not so good. I played in a twosome behind a foursome. By the 4 th hole the group in front of us were a hole snd a half behind and only got worse. Other than the pace (the slower group should have let us play through) the course was in good shape.
Course in good shape
The fairways were nice and green and well kept up.The greens were in good shape. Will definitely play here again. Just one suggestion...there should be a sign that distinguishes 1st hole tee box of Balboa and Encino.
Great Course!!
In pretty good shape considering the drought. Really enjoy playing there.
Solid
The course was in solid condition. Greens were in very good condition but could have been cut a little shorter and run a little faster. The course is on the easier side but still has appropriate distance and traditional layout.
Fair test of golf
This course has 12 par four holes, unlike its sister course (Encino) which has the more conventional 10 par fours. For someone who hits around 200 off the tee (as I do) only 3 of the par four's are pretty easy to reach in regulation, 3 are tough to reach and the remaining 4 par four's require good second shots of 160+ yards to get on. On the other hand, all 3 of the par five holes are very reachable in regulation. The three par 3 holes have some challenges due to either length, sand trips or both.
Someone who's 240 + off the tee should score in the 70's on this course given halfway decent accuracy on 2nd shots and reasonable putting. Like Encino and Woodley, this course is kept in fairly good condition given the amount of play they get. Greens are generally true.
Amenities?
No Marshall for super slow 4 some in front of us.
No amenities, no snack bar, and no refreshments whatsoever at the turn.
Decent fairways, decent greens.
Balboa golf course
Would be nice before you book that they let you know the course was punch and sanded before you booked your tee time
Good golf, still greens have too much sand
The greens were still in terrible shape after Aerating.
