Balboa is a mid-tier LA city course. The conditions are a bit above average from what you would expect, greens are in pretty decent shape too. They are very slow and flat so 20+ footers come a little easier. Overall the course feels like a nice walk in the park and its a fantastic place to play if you live close by.

Great City Complex

Grabbed an open single tee time for 12:30 on a Saturday. The parking lot and range were packed, so I was concerned about a really slow day. Not only did I finish in exactly 4 hours, but I was extremely happy with the condition of the course. It's old school at it's best. Straight and walkable. Well guarded, smallish greens. No bare spots in the fairways and really helpful staff!

A war zone

The course definitely has danger zones. My friend came less then an inch from getting hit in the head by a golf ball . We were in our cart by the restrooms and hole #14 when a ball comes screaming by our heads and grazed my friends Beard. The shot came from in front of the green that faces the restrooms. NO WARNING GIVEN. The group was apologetic but didn't explain why no warning was given.

The pace of play was slow especially on the back 9. Waiting10 to 15 minutes to tee off. Crazy for a Monday play. Greens were in very good shape. Overall would give the course a C. Balboa GC.
