Balboa at Sepulveda Golf Complex

Straightforward layout. Good conditions. Good value. Not very challenging but solid

Well maintained muni course easier than Wilson, Rancho and Harding but a good course for walking.

Was very pleased with how well the course played today. The greens were soft and held up very well. In the past the greens have been hard so your ball would hit and release, today you had to change your game or mindset and throw the ball at the pin. The tee boxes were being reseeded was the only drawback, but in a couple weeks it should be back to normal.

The only real issue was not having a cart... even for someone with a medical issue. I only made it nine holes, and barely.

They had just punched with small holes. The greens were therefore very soft, and overwatered. Two weeks ago they were in really nice shape, and now it’s like mush.

Some of the fairway areas still need work. Usually it’s been the other way around, where Balboa is in better shape than Encino, but lately Encino has been nicer. On Balboa there are still lots of bare dirt brown hard mud patches all over, whereas they have put in the work to fix more of those on Encino. So I’m only giving it average ratings. Disappointed about the greens on Balboa when it’s always been better than Encino but now it’s flipped.
