Black Creek Golf Club
About
Black Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole, championship course that is conveniently situated less than an hour from Savannah. The course sprawls across acres of rolling countryside, surrounded by nothing but lush meadows and hills, providing the round with peaceful seclusion. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels and the blue tees are enough of a challenge for more advanced players. The front nine has a wide-open links-style layout that provides an interesting contrast to the back nine, which is characterized by tree-lined, narrow fairways. The greens are large and undulating and sometimes framed with strategically placed bunkers. The golf course winds through scenic coastal marshes and wetlands, which come into play on 13 holes. There is even an island green on Black Creek Golf Club's signature hole, the par-3 15th.

A nice play
Second time to play and wasn't disappointed. Course isn't long but has enough challenges for all. Tees need a little care but overall the course is in great shape. Great rate made this a great play.
Nice round
Used to play regularly there but have moved away. Paths were broken up in places and overgrown particularly around the 12th green. We enjoyed it and will likely play there again periodically.
Do not recommend
This was the "second" time in 2 months that I played this course. First time the greens had been sanded and there was more sand than grass. Second time, the course has 9 holes shut down due to improvements and the greens are "hairy" and not well kept. I got both deals as HOT deals and feel I was short changed. This is cow pasture golf on a good day. Will not return no matter how big of a hot deal golfnow gives!!
Hot Deal Only!!!
This course is in horrible condition right now. 2 of the greens have been replanted with sod and the ball will not roll. This course at best should be considered to be a city course right now due to the conditions and I would not recommend paying full price for a round of golf. The course has potential to be a spectacular trek through the woods but the management needs to get some stuff done around there... bring a 4 wheel drive golf cart because it is a bumpy ride through most of the course. I will be back again but will not pay more than $15 to golf here...
Terrible shape, course should have provided a disclaimer.
This was my second time playing Black Creek. The first was a little over 6 months ago and the course back then was in great shape. This time around unfortunately, it was absolutely terrible. Some of the greens and tee boxes were simply unplayable. The course needs to provide customers with a disclaimer or a refund. I did not book last week's tee time via Golfnow and did not ask about a refund because I was so discouraged I simply wanted to just leave. The 18th and 9th greens were in good condition and they are conveniently located on either side of the club house. I doubt that managment would intentionally deceive people, but why are they able to keep those 2 greens in good shape and the other 16 like sand boxes? The cart paths need to be completely re-paved as well. It's too bad, because this used to be such a nice course to play. (No knock on the staff, always professional and friendly)
Black Creek GC Review
Fairways and overall GC condition is in average shape but the greens are in very poor condition. Almost impossible to put, except greens # 9, 18 and one or two more that are not in that bad of a condition.
Poor Conditions
This course used to be in excellent condition and always enjoyed playing here. Our recent round was a disappointment as every green was in terrible shape.
For $10 why not?
I'd only give the course two stars. The greens were horrible with very little grass on them. The fairways were in ok shape. For $10 though why not play it's cheap.
skip it till the greens are fixed
This is a nice course layout but the greens are in horrible shape. I will not play it again until they have puttable greens
Had a very good time
I really enjoyed my round. This course is nicely laid out and fair for the average weekend hacker. If you play the blue tees it could be quite challenging. Tee boxes can use some work but that didn't affect their functionality. The fairways were great. Really nice. The greens were going thru a bit of maintenance this time but this first time I played they were great so I think they'll be good again in a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to returning soon.
greens very poor shape
Forget your greens play as every green was shot. Not sure when the greens will make it back could take months.
wet, slow and bumpy
A few years ago, this course was worth the drive time from Savannah. Since many of the trees have been removed, the course lost its out in the woods feel. The once pristine greens and tee boxes are now in duress making putting with a wedge as high probability as using your putter. The cart paths have been mangled by root systems which is unavoidable, but can be repaired. They are pretty brutal right now, I'm sure causing damage to the carts. Honestly, walking would have been much more pleasurable. Still, the layout is fun and challenging, and the staff has always been great. I truly hope the conditions get back to where they once were.
No warning
I made a tee time for a foursome on 3/17 for 3/20. We all had played the course several times over the last few years and it was always in decent shape. On this day though, the greens were horrible. They had been punched within the last few weeks but that was not the problem. With two exceptions, they were all sand. Very little grass was visible on the greens. Also, the fairways had not been cut in many days and were overgrown with poa annua. None of this information was provided when I made the tee time nor when we checked in and paid full greens fees. When one of our group went to the pro shop to complain after the round, the guy basically blew him off saying "if the greens had been in good shape would you have come in here?" We won't be back since there are a lot of very nice courses within the 45 minute drive it took us to get there.
Greens are bad
A few years ago, this course was worth driving to for the greens. Now they are bad. The trees are all cut down which originally defined holes 1 and 8. I will not make the trip again,
Not A Bad Course
Tees have no grass. Greens under repair. Cart paths need SERIOUS fixing. Condition of fairways OK for this time of year. A lot of water but mostly doesn't come into play from the whites as long as shots are hit well. Bunkers need better care.
Cart path
Cart path could use some investment. Otherwise great course. Cart paths need some return on investment.
Great course
Course looked great. Greens were perfect. Love it here
Course dries well after big rains!
Course has a lot of character and memorable holes. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and accommodating!
We played after a big rain that drove the locals inside. Was wet, but then dried very well. Fair test of golf.
Wish GN would morph back to the GN of old, with loyalty based fees instead of the sneaky $3.49 they are charging now....
Great golf course.
Personnel was courteous. Ground crew helped me find my lost cell phone on the course very quickly.
Course is in excellent condition. Greens look newly sanded and seeded in some areas, disrupting putts but who cares with a course as nice as this.
Played for $15.00
Course was nice overall. Only complaint was the putting greens. They weren't in very good shape, but for $15.00 I'll play it over and over again
