Nice course
This is a very nice course to play is in excellent condition, We played at 3 o'clock and nobody in front of us and nobody behind us, only two of us but we got through in 3 1/4 hours, I almost didn't come back to play here due to the fact that the counterperson so rude the first time I played here however his attitude did improve and it's hard to resist such a good value.
Very nice!
Rolling hills, interesting & challenging layout and well maintained. I found the greens tough to putt... But It was my first time at A. S. We took advantage of the after 2:00 pm special. Not only was it a great value, but on this day there were very few people playing.
I highly recommend this course. Go early, enjoy lunch and have a relaxed peaceful round of golf on this stunningly beautiful course.
Pristine conditions
Beautiful course, very scenic and has some long par 4s,,staff very friendly with nice carts and 5 stars for value,a real pleasure to golf!
Hold your breath for the back 9
Compared to how the rest of California is playing this course was off the mark! For $100 a twosome, you can get there early in the morning to not get any food. Go out and play a course wit no drinking water in the coolers....play some fuzzy and some brown tee boxes....the greens I have to say are in good condition. I didn't play particularly well but even on great shots the reward I received was very little. The rough is overgrown to the point where if you miss the fairway (which have brown clumpy clay spots ) you lose your ball....not necessarily because of the length, but because it grows in clumps and there's nothing uniform for your eye to look at....the Ridge and Darkhorse are far better for the money. Back 9 is way more fun than front 9! I don't understand why this course has such a hi rating on Golf Advisor. I have played all over Norcal and Palm Springs. I'd put this in the Haggin Oaks/municipal course realm.
Alway a pleasure!
I always enjoy playing Alta Sierra. It's a great club with a great vibe! Non-members like me can play in afternoon and it's always an enjoyable experience.
we will golf there again
arrived at course weather was very windy.they closed the course when we arrived.Phoned golf now to tell them. They refunded my money and compensated us for our trouble,Great customer service and courteous operator.I highly recommend golf now and I will refer my friends and neighbors to use this website.
beautiful and fun
If you have never played Alta Sierra, it is a fun beautiful course. It is a hilly course with a few blind tee shots, but other than that it is very straight forward. The course winds through hills and there is OB on nearly every hole, but it is quite generous from the tee. Club selection can be tricky as most approach shots are up or down quite a bit.
Overall it is a cool little course in the foothills and worth the drive.
Pine lined fairways, very picturesque course
Good Course, challenging lies in the fairways. Negative is the overwhelming amount of goose excrement on the course.
Nice Country Club facility
Beautiful course in the Sierra Foothills. Nice range and putting greens. Downside is that you hit off mats only. It's mountains golf so there are uphill followed by downhill holes combined with blind shots. It keeps it interesting. I prefer a good challenging walk and this course provides that. The carts are newer and well maintained. This is a course worth playing.
A course to come and play
Alta Sierra is a excellent golf course. Not to easy, not to hard. I'm just beginning, but I enjoy the challenge of each hole. I join others who have come from Reno to Lincoln to Roseville and they also have said they enjoyed this course.
This course has great features
Wide fairways, average size greens that are protected by bunkers. Many elevation changes. Course reminds me of playing in North Lake Tahoe. Would play again
Ups and Downs
Really a nice course. Don't let the yardage fool you, it plays considerably longer from the tips. The greens are very tricky so look your putts over from all angles.
Great first impression!
First time playing the course and I will definitely be back! Greens and fairway were in great shape. Nice carts. Finished a full round with a 2pm tee time in less than 4 hours when paired up as a foursome. Beautiful course overall and a great value too!
Course was beautiful
Only bad thing was the bar was not open early and there was no snack shop other than that the course was in excellent condition .very well maintained great day of golf up at Alta Sierra
great layout
Course was in great shape both the greens and the fairways. Nice escape from the valley heat.pace of play was perfect we never ran into another group. Friendly staff gave us ice for our personal cooler. Drinks in the bar were good though the hot dogs from the snack shack were cold . Will definitely return to Alta Sierra.
Mountain golf at its finest. . .
The course is scenic, well maintained and nicely laid out among the abundant pines -- and homes -- of Alta Sierra, elevation 2,000 feet. The greens are even but on the slow side. It is a startlingly beautiful layout.
Really enjoyed Alta Sierra
We really enjoyed the course. The greens were in great condition, just a tad on the slow side.
Alta Sierra C.C & G.C a gem
nice staff greens seemed a bit slow dear on the course almost tame
