This course dates back to the 1940s and carries a powerful history. Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy played many a round at Indian Palms, back when it was called Cochran Ranch. Eisenhower loved the place so much, he wrote his memoirs at the ranch.

You might become enraptured with Indian Palms' past. But the course itself has very much moved into the 21st century.

Each of the nines carries its own personality. The Indian nine is the longest, with the most straight-forward holes. The Royal nine features water on eight of its holes. (Yes, your break from water is one hole total).

Poor shape

This was my first game of 2023 and playing with a high handicap friend, I can appreciate the openness of the course and it was good practice to just get out and swing. The course was rather boring in that way but ok. Half the greens good, the other half needed some help but mostly, the fairways and such seemed really run down. Yes there was some rain in past couple days but WAY TOO MUCH debris on fairways and several tee boxes just needing a cut. Grass too long, debris and an angle made it tough. I ran into a person who has stayed on the course for the past 12 years and he said when new owners took over three years ago, they just cut costs everywhere and let it go. I’m Canada east coast our season is short and golf often costs more but a course like this should cost about $50cdn as it was pretty much straight away every hole. Paying $75 USD was was overpayment for sure nice weather and good company saved the day. Had I been on my own I’d be pretty upset. Mow your lawns and clean up the debris and be proud of your work for gosh sakes

Needs some TLC

The Mountain Course is in terrible shape. Very little grass on fairways, also not cleaned up. Golf carts frequently run out of battery life during the rounds. This has happened to us a few times.

Do Not Play This Course

I have played here over the course of the last 10 years. I've always enjoyed the challenges it presented, but this year the course has really gone down hill. Fairways and rough are in terrible condition. It's a golf course that looks like it could close down any day. I would never suggest playing here to anyone. If you get a chance to play here, DON:T!! Go somewhere else.

Great Layout, Really Fast Greens

The course is played as a combination of two of the three 9 hole tracts. Runs through housing community, with relatively narrow fairways having caused me concerns for properties lining the fairways. Recent windy conditions were evident, as fairways and rough areas were littered with palm fronds from hole, to hole. Distances between green and the next tee box varied, and were generally long enough to preclude a good walking tract. Fun round enjoyed with other vacationers.

Stay Away from Indian Palms

ProShop manager was unreasonable and could not commit to give us our reserved tee time. No carts were available 45 after our scheduled tee time. We complained and left an hour after we’d arrived and did not play a single hole of golf.

EXTREMELY RUDE MANAGER!,!!

I “WOULD NOT” recommend this course to anyone!

Dead Carts

3 carts died on us totally brutal. The guy that brought out the 3rd 1 said the owner is too cheap to replace them. Not fun at all, I'm done with this place until they replace carts.

Failure overall!

My husband and I booked a tee time at Indian Palms at 2:00. We were looking forward to a great day out on the fairways. Unfortunately we were greeted by the news that there were no carts available. The manager of the Proshop suggested that we walk the first nine holes and check back for a cart then. There was no mention of a discount for the lack of cart so we said we would go to the restaurant and check back. After half an hour they still had no cart for us! When I confronted Charlie I was told to” just keep talking”. The helper in the barns called out to him that there was an available cart but Charlie said,” no, I told you to plug it in.” The worker repeated that it was ready and again he was told to”plug it in”.

As we walked away we were approached by a gentleman from the surrounding community who told us that people have left the area because of Charlie and his outrageous behaviour. We won’t be back! You shouldn’t either!

There are many beautiful places to choose in the area. This place has a bad reputation and now we know why!

Thanks Charlie!! For nothing!

Indian Palm Golf Course - Disrespect for Players

I booked a 2:00pm Tee time for Indian Palms in Indio, California and didn’t get play our round of golf.

I drove 30 minutes to reach the course and arrived 20 minutes early for our Tee time.

When I got to the ProShop to register, I was told that they didn’t have any golf carts available.

I was told to go to the clubhouse and I would be called when a cart was available.

Twenty five minutes later I returned to the ProShop asking for a cart.

The manager still said that no carts were available and I may have to wait another thirty minutes.

This was UNACCEPTABLE!

I will never set foot on this course again.

When I book a 2 o’clock tee time I expect to be in a cart and waiting by the first hole getting ready to tee off.

I’ve made the commitment to play and the course should be ready for my arrival.

I talked to the Manager about this issue and he could have cared less!

He didn’t go out of his way to help, offer suggestions, provide complimentary range balls or offer a discount.

We were paying for 18 holes and he couldn’t guarantee we would complete at least 9 holes.

He said they ran out of carts.

How can you run out of carts?

Three ways:

1) No maintenance being performed on the carts causing breakdowns

2) Over-booking the course

3) Being cheap and not ordering enough stock at the beginning of the season.

As a customer, I don’t care!

And hey how about having a fleet of pull-style carts available if you know you overbook?

Do no book a round of golf at this course, it is a waste of your time and effort!

I will not recommend this course to anybody, ever!

Probably was a great course in its heyday.

Old, tired, unkept. Greens were pretty quick but had a weird track pattern on them. Still putted well. Great course for beginners, high handicappers, wide fairways easy to keep in play. Houses are very near fairways on some holes.

Sadly Neglected

This may have been a nice course at one time but it looks like it has been neglected for some time. The fairways are in very poor condition and the overall condition of the course leaves a lot to be desired. It was poorly marked and hard to find the tee boxes at times. There was debris everywhere and not even basis maintenance appears to be happening. I will not be returning to play here again and suggest you can find better value elsewhere.😫😫

Reasonable value but in poor condition

Unfortunately the course is not in top condition. The fairways are dry, not enough grass and overall, not great.

Not enjoyable

I’m amazed that the homeowners surrounding the fairways don’t complain about the course conditions . It all looked tired and out of date. Yes, I was hoping of an inexpensive jewel round of golf, but nowhere near it. Lesson learned . … Nope, can’t go back.

Could be better

Ok, price was good. If you read the other reviews, they’re pretty accurate for the golf course. The guy handling the carts was great and the starter was helpful too. It could be decent, but the yardage is not well marked. Some holes have blue, white and no red markers. The scorecard doesn’t match the tee boxes 😅 For instance, the red tees were actually the second hardest, so whoever is running the course needs to take a drive on the course and sort out the confusion.
