Indian Palms Golf & Country Club - Royal/Indian
About
This course dates back to the 1940s and carries a powerful history. Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy played many a round at Indian Palms, back when it was called Cochran Ranch. Eisenhower loved the place so much, he wrote his memoirs at the ranch.
You might become enraptured with Indian Palms' past. But the course itself has very much moved into the 21st century.
Each of the nines carries its own personality. The Indian nine is the longest, with the most straight-forward holes. The Royal nine features water on eight of its holes. (Yes, your break from water is one hole total).

Worst Track Ever
We've stayed in this community the past few years because we have friends who live here. I played this course two years ago because it's convenient, and I thought "what a terrible shame this course is so poorly maintained (it's basically a series of 18 pastures with bad greens at the end of each one). So, I gave it another chance, thinking that it can't be worse that the first time. I was wrong...very wrong. They should be embarrassed to call this a golf course. The fairways are browned out weed patches, accentuated by gopher holes, and lined with trashy waste areas and construction debris. The bunkers are mostly washed out, the water features look like scum ponds, and the greens almost all have dead patches and/or are pock marked with poor aeration scars. When we got our cart, the starter told us "It may run out of juice after 12 holes so, just call us and we'll bring you another one. This pic is from their cart barn, and the condition of this cart fits the course perfectly. Come on Man!!!
Whoever owns this dog patch (insult to dogs) need to sell it to someone who can fix and manage it properly.
Worst course in the valley
Their rates had been reduced but we were still charged the rate they gave to Golf Now. Course is in terrible condition. Worst course we have played.
Good course
The course has a great layout with some tough shots over water. The greens were great and quite fast. Bunkers OK. The grass on the fairways was a little thin, but not that it hurt my game other than the chipping.
Pro Shop staff very friendly.
Quite Sunday Round
Booked this course because it was the lowest priced time in the morning I could find after 8am. I hadn’t played here for several years and remember it when it was under different ownership. The course has lots of potential but I feel that the focus is in the wrong places. The only real positive I will say for the course conditions is that the greens were actually rolling quite nicely. The Mountain greens seemed to be a bit faster than the Royal. The Indian course is closed as they did a late overseed.
There was no food and beverage available. Teed off about 8:10 and finished about 11:20 so that was nice. There was limited play in the morning because there was an afternoon shotgun starting at 12:30.
The fairways were sparse with winter rye grass and quite a few holes had fallen leaves so at times it was hard to find your ball even in the fairway
Course needs focus on the little things like new flagsticks that will stand up straight in the cups. New flags that aren’t torn. Edge work around the cart paths and curbs. Improve the aesthetics overall. There has been a lack of maintenance over the past few years. Lots of dead trees and untrimmed palm trees.
This is a tight golf course but not real long. It’s a lot different from the courses in the desert that have generous fairways. If you want to test your driver this is a good track for that.
In a couple of months it should be a lot better playing conditions. If you want to play some golf on a budget this is good for that but it’s not a memorable golf course.
A very good course for the price
The course conditions need a bit more heat to grow in but it was certainly decent and we enjoyed and got full value for our money.
Nice course to golf
We found a Hot Deal in the morning and golfed at 11:44...great deal. The course was in ok shape...grass a little thin. It should be great in a couple of weeks. The greens are great! The bunkers were a little damp, but it did rain overnight.
Dissapointed
We played the Mountain and Royal courses. The greens are in decent shape but the fairways, especially on the Mountain course have little to no grass and you are basically hitting off of a hard pan. This is such a dissapointment because this golf course used to be one of the nicer courses in the valley. Pace of play was as fast as we wanted to go, because there was hardly anybody on the golf course and the condition was likely the reason. We laughed at the published course condition by the resort and the attached pictures as they differed from reality. Unfortunately. this golf course requires a lot of TLC to return this course to its previous conditions.
Not worth the money
Greens on Royal were in poor condition, better on mountain. Course charges $25 for a rider. Carts are broken down and in poor condition. No GPS. Go somewhere else
Very nice course!
IPCC has greatly improved over the past two months. Course is a good value compared to other courses in the Coachella Valley. Staff very friendly and Hangerc19 has great food.
course
Royal course not bad shape Mountain course not much grass
course was in bad condition. the greens and fairways were brown on the front nine(mountain course). The back nine was a little better. The tee boxes were littered with broken tees . The only good thing about the course was the price. This was an example of getting what you paid for.
