Indian Palms Golf & Country Club - Royal/Indian
About
This course dates back to the 1940s and carries a powerful history. Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy played many a round at Indian Palms, back when it was called Cochran Ranch. Eisenhower loved the place so much, he wrote his memoirs at the ranch.
You might become enraptured with Indian Palms' past. But the course itself has very much moved into the 21st century.
Each of the nines carries its own personality. The Indian nine is the longest, with the most straight-forward holes. The Royal nine features water on eight of its holes. (Yes, your break from water is one hole total).

Help....Needed at this place. Badly
I hate to do it but this course was one of the worst courses I step foot on. It is probably more set up for the people who live there. Fairways not cut, holes in the greens and just not a good place to advertise even for $35.00.
I will not recommend the real golfer to go here.
Golf's Catch-22...
You can't pay for proper maintenance if there is no revenue from players, and you can't get more players if your maintenance is abysmal.
I don't think what we saw today was just "off season" deferred maintenance--large weeds growing up through benches, grass on the tee box so high that you'd need an extra long tee just to position your ball high enough to get a 460cc driver head under it, and weird 8' diameter damage spots and ant mounds on the greens!
The course is long enough from blue, but I'm sorry, this is a place to walk the dog, not play golf.
Tough in September
Everything was grown out, great shot down the far way, and you still have to hunt for your ball. I might try it again when it’s not offseason, but the course left a lot to wish for.
Poor course condition!
As I have stated many times, I live here and love my course. It is really too bad that the management does not have the same feeling toward residents and the course.
From the tees, onto the fairways and the greens, the overall course is in very poor condition. When you hit your ball in the center of the fairway and cannot find it due to the height of the grass...WOW...that is very poor! Even the tees have grass in many locations higher than a 3 inches tee.
It seems like the management does not have an interest in maintaining the course.
I cannot understand why prices for tee times go up when you get closer to the date. Usually, in good business practices, you reduce the price, not increase it. Example: Checked Sunday 9/19 - two weeks ago it was $25.00 per player at 6:56 am, now it is $31.99. The course might be acceptable at $25.00; not at $31.99.
When I asked the course why, they stated it was Golf Now; then, when I asked Golf Now, they stated it was the decision of the course. It would be nice if you would all get your act together.
I will try to continue to support my course. It does have a great history. BUT, let's get it in better playing condition for all of us.
Thank you!
Ant bites
Course is in a transition fairways need work tee box’s are ant infested
Fire ants are terrible bites
Everything thing about this course sucks. Poor tee boxes, poor fairway and poor greens
Course is Improving!
There is still much to be done on the course from the tees, fairways, and greens; but, they are improving. I hope that the comments made by players and their guests; including, members of the men and women clubs might be getting through to the management!
The course could be great! It has a very rich history of being one of the oldest courses in the Coachella Valley.
Let's keep our fingers crossed!
NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS!
As I have stated before, love my course, I live here at IPCC; but, the course is not being maintained! Yes, this is the off-season; but, the fairways should be cut, and the tees and greens should be as well. The borders of the course along the homes on the fairways should be maintained. As a property owner, the course should be maintained!
The course has a wonderful history and when it is in fair to good conditions, it's a wonderful place to play.
When you hit your ball in the fairways and you cannot find it, due to the height of the grass that is sad.
Lack of Maintenance of the Course!
As I have stated before, "I love my course!" There is a serious lack of care or consideration by the management and/or owner in maintaining the course. The fairways are not cut, many sections you feel like you are hitting from the rough and you're in the middle of the fairway. The tees and greens are not maintained. The limited maintenance/gardener staff are doing the best they can.
It is sad to see the condition of the course!
Last year during the summer, we were paying $10.00 for the Hot Deals, now we are paying $25.00, the same price we paid during the Fall and Springs???
It is really sad!
Course was in terrible condition
Course was badly mowed, grass and tree cuttings were all over the course
Course needs HELP!
It is sad to see a beautiful and historical golf course go downhill as IPCC has in the past months. The fairways need to be cut, as well as, the second cut. The tee's need to be cut and the greens need to be rolled.
The limbs and branches from the numerous trees that were broken/damaged during the recent storm (more than a week ago) on the course need to be cut and removed.
Basic maintenance would be a great improvement.
As I have stated in previous reviews, I live here and I love my course; but, it is not be taken care of.
Getting better!
I love my course! It is getting better and I would think that it is a good place for all levels of players and the price is one of the better deals in the Coachella Valley.
Could use some work
Looks like a goat track but with some attention, it could be respectable. Greens rolled pure and true. Tee boxes hadn't been mowed In weeks -needed a 5 inch tee on some holes!!! Cups were poorly cut with the edges literally crumbling into the hole. Fairways needed mowing as well - sucks when you pipe one down the middle and can't find your ball.
Getting better!
This is my course, where I live, and I play it three to four times a week. It is getting better, the management is putting some resources in maintaining the course.
I have always loved playing the course in the past. The staff members are great.
I can, once again, suggest individuals to play the course.
Course needs improvements!
The course is better than the past two weeks; but, it still needs better landscaping, cutting of the fairways and tee boxes.
The carts need to be properly cleaned and sanitized. They need to be plugged in, so the carts do not run out of power while playing a round of golf.
I love my course; but it needs proper care!
Played 3x last 2 years ..
I keep trying to give this place to benefit of the doubt. Staff is generally pretty friendly. But the course conditions are not that great. The greens are definitely. But for what you pay on golfnow.com you get what you pay for. not a bad track for sure just a little disappointing this last trip paid for
Lack of Maintenance of the Course!
The course is not being maintained as it should be, even during the summer months. The fairway has multi cuts and there are water leaks. The course has gone down over the past six months. It is really too bad!
You are paying the same price during the summer (off-season) as we were paying during the high season via GolfNow, very strange!
I live here and I love the course; but, it needs to be maintained.
