Greens
I don't want to overstate St Mark GC but it is in very good shape. It was a pleasure here. Greens are best in the area
Very few GORs. Loved it...
Great Saturday
Great old school track. Shot placement is a premium here.
Tip: if you’re taking out a new golfer (ladies/youth), the forward tees aren’t the easiest to play from.
Always enjoyable
Played on a busy Masters Sunday afternoon. Course very good shape. 4.5 hours. Definitely play this course!
Staff and food the best!
Greens in great shape
I am looking for fast true greens and a 3:5 hr round!i got both at St Mark
Awesome course conditions and friendly staff! I love that this course has a good range, restaurant and that it plays at 4 hours! To be fair though I was disappointed to see rocks in all the sand bunkers on 6! WTH! And my fries that came with my Rueben were not fully cooked! All in all a great place to get it done see you next time!!
Forget about the 5-some's. They put out 6-some's...
Heard some good things about this course and had a good rate for a Sunday. Would never play here again. It is a very old course, with almost every house surrounded by houses. I only felt comfortable using my driver on 3 holes. Admittedly it is a relatively short course, but with all of the people in backyards, literally just of the course on a beautiful Sunday, there was no way I was hitting driver with houses on both sides of narrow fairways. (The twosome I played with hit 8 balls into homes/streets... luckily causing no issues)
This type of course may be fine for a very accurate player, but is not my cup of tea and normally I would not complain, I just likely wouldn't return. My bigger issue is that the course has not problem sending out 5-somes and even 6-somes. We saw what we thought was a 5 going out two groups ahead on the first tee. Confirmed after started waiting immediately. At the turn, my partner went into the shop and asked if this was allowed or policy. Staff said no, that probably some members had joined up (a 2+3). My partner explained that the 5 teed off on 1 together. The said they would check this... but nothing happened. Oddly, while I was waiting on the tenth tee, i was watching a three-some waiting in the fairway. I then noticed that the group ahead was a 6!. Everyone was stacked up on the 18/17 holes and trust me these guys had no sense of urgency or were playing ready golf. Their handshake alone on 18 must have taken 3 minutes. I was so shocked by this, I have included a picture. You can see all 6 players on 18. Needless to say a very slow, back 9. I don't care if these are members or hall-of-famers, You shouldn't put out 6/5-somes and not have some marshaling (there was none).
Great Experience
All in All, a really fun course with a friendly staff.
It is a beautiful course.
This course is very challenging to me. My husband. loves it because he gets to hit long shots. The pace of play today was perfect. The weather was perfect too. Course conditions are still very wet in many areas after all of the rain. I see the maintenance staff out there working every day. The course is very green. The painted lady butterflies were all over the place. We enjoyed our day very much and had dinner at The Grill.
Conditions
Course was a little soggy from the recent rain but its not their fault. Cart path only was smart!.. Greens were a little slow, haven't been able to mow as much. Fairways are lush with mow mark design wich looks nice off the tee.
Should close to dry out
What a shame such layout is being damaged by the wet conditions, which is totally Mother Nature being not so kind. Poor drainage on some holes are horrible and unplayable. Hard for the locals who play regularly. Head for the higher ground.
St. MARKS GOLF
I liked the golf course and the people are very friendly. Nice golf carts, good greens. We played a day after a big rain. The course was very wet. I want to play this course when it is dry.
Greens are punched and sanded.
Greens are punched and sanded. Putting is a futile effort. There are still some wet spots throughout the course, but I guess with all the rain it’s hard not to have some. Fairway is in pretty good shape.
Needs a marshal
Due to the previous week of relentless rain, the course was very wet. So, carts on cart path only. No big deal, but the 5 groups ahead of us were all together and they obviously had never played cart path only rules. I can't count the number of times they went back to their cart to get another club. Not once did I see them take a few clubs to either club up or club down. Needless to say, 18 holes took 5 hours and 20 minutes.I believe a marshal, had there been one, could have sped them up a little,
Nice Course
The week of rain took its toll on the course but it was still a fun round.
Very friendly staff , could have used a refreshment cart though.
I plan to play it again once it dries out.
To Close to homes ! No drainage after Rain
Course was so wet. Cart Path only made for a nasty wet 1/2 round I left It was to wet also . Very slow 9 hole for a single . Also to tight of a lay out feels like your playing in people’s back yard the whole time. Worth maybe $10
One of the local best.
With the exception of pace of play this course has all the challenges you would want if you choose the proper tees.
