The Links at Lakehouse

This course has received lots of attention in one year. At one time it was an excellent resort course that has been overtaken by time. If you don't mind houses lining the fairways new management has made this a great bargain in San Diego. Greens were great, staff very friendly without being condescending, excellent "bones" to this course with significant resources going into grass, trimming and cart paths. The 600 yard uphill par 5 is one of the toughest anywhere and course knowledge will help novices read greens that you swear can't break the way gravity demands. Worth playing. Not a resort course in the way of an Aviara or La Costa at +$100/round but a real honest golf course for the money.

Course signage still says Lake San Marcos so a little confusing. Nice course, well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. Houses adjacent to the fairways are a little close, so hit the ball straight. Played with a very nice couple so we had a great day!!

At the sunny weather, I went to St. Mark golf course with 3- people. I glad to kindly staff and wonderful landscape. But some problems in fairway status, there was many of houses between fairway. I really worried that I had many of chance of hit the housetop. I think some problem so close to houses, so I had a fear of hit the houses and unfocused playing golf because of loud. I will not recommended this golf course to my friends.

Third time playing here. Have only played a few courses in the area and found St. Mark in better shape, more challenging, and better value then the other courses I played. I believe the greens were in good shape but I could not putt at all on this day.

I thought the course was very nice and the staff was extremely friendly. The Golfnow price we got made the deal even sweeter. Course was challenging for an average player like me (14 hcp), but a higher hcp would have great fun too IMO.

This was the second time playing this course since the change of ownership (first time was within a couple weeks of the change) and you can see the difference in the course condition. Tees and greens are in excellent shape and they're making improvements in the fairways, albeit somewhat slower (tehy should've been punched after the last rains...) but that's understandable.
If they continue on this path the course should be fantastic in the near future.

Overall it was a very good course. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The pace of play was fast. Was able to play all of my clubs while enjoying great views. Would play here again.

It had been well over a year since I had played St Marks. Its obvious that they have activated some old sprinkler heads, since the course is greener than its been in years. Some heavy tree trimming, work around tee boxes and new sand in the bunkers are all positives... as they say "cleans up very nicely".
My one criticism, or curiosity, is concerning the greens - while very healthy and consistent, I hope the blades on the mowers can be lowered a bit to make putting more fun and pleasurable. No on enjoys the challenge of a slow downhill putt.
But back to the positives... the atmosphere was outstanding from the pro shop, to the range, to the course and finally the restaurant - lots of happy people milling about enjoying the property with some tasty tunes playing in the background. The new owners are doing it right and I offer my congratulations on the beautiful progress.
I highly recommend St Marks as one of the best golfing values in Southern California. Play it!!!

First time playing this course and it is average but the price they charge does not reflect the conditions of the course. Bunker sand looked nice the first few holes and disappoints the rest of the course. Hole 11 is a par 3 and close to some apartments. There were teenagers playing on the side of the fairway without little regard to the golfers teeing off! You are constantly driving over paved streets when going from hole to hole - watch out for cars! The houses nearby gives it that municipal course atmosphere but the price they charge is like a country club course which does not resemble it at all! Hole 14 provided a great view of the valley and was the nicest part of the course. Other than that, I'd only play here if I can get a good deal from GolfNow.

Fair way is so bad. The grass of some fairway is nothing.
the green is little slow.
I don't want play anymore at this kind course.

...the staff were very accomodating and friendly, including the fieldworkers, the course was greener than most in the area, we had a wide range of handicaps in the foursome and all were challenged and satisfied with the day...coulda been a few more signs to locate the place...

Haven't played at St Marks ( Lake San Marcos ) in 10 years. Course is much the same - a lot of upgrades to the club house and other facilities. Lots of 'dog legs' left takes some shot planning.
Perfect weather - all courses could use some rain.
Enjoyed the day.

no waiting teed off within five minutes of assigned tee time. most greens in excellent condition. best to have more than one sleeve of balls. pro shop staff were excellent.

Lots of work being done to the course, whcih will enhance the course. new bunkers, fairway repairs. Good warm up area, excellent caring staff.
