Great Course for Price
Course was in above average condidtions. The greens were in great conditions. Overall the course was fun to play. Few challenging holes but for most part good course for average golfer
Make sure you get the right price
The course was fairly empty, but the round was still extremely slow. I teed off as a single. There was a single ahead of me (he was off the first green before I teed off on the first). By the third hole, he had caught the single in front of him and I had to wait. By the 4th hole I had to join them We waited to hit for about 10 minutes on each hole. There was a threesome in front of us, and an impossibly slow 4 some in front of them. There was nobody in front of the foursome and there weren't any marshals to speed them along.
St. Mark is a decent course, but if you pay the $59 you are grossly over paying. I paid $39 and that is probably a little on the high side for the condition of the course.
Problem because of Golf Now
Booked Tee Times for 3 - got a decent not a great rate at all to play at 12:28 PM on Sunday. My buddy hurt his back Saturday night and couldn't play - when I asked to at least play as if I were a threesome - there were two of us - I was told no refund and if I want to play as a threesome - talk to Golf Now - that's them - not St Marks.
Sweet huh?
course is fine
snack bar had no food when I finished 9 holes aprox.2:30 to 3;00 just chips and soda also teed off 25 to 30 min. past booked time, I think you put some groups in front of us
Good Value For a Sunday
Good value for playing on a Sunday. The fairways need more grass. The greens were in pretty good shape. The bunkers need more sand. The carts are new.
I will definitely play this course again.
plays longer than stated on the card
Greens are excellent, Fairways not so good we adjusted our lies when in fairway to overcome this problem
Not a Good Deal
It's unfortunate that a course could be ruined by a simple problem but this one was. We purchased the deal from GolfNow at $19 per person for 3 people which per person was a $25 savings and we were happy. They charged us so much for the cart that we ended up not getting the deal and only saved a few bucks per person.
The issue is when I ask how much it would be for a cart the man looked at our tee time and thought for a while. Then he was like well...for that tee time it will be...
I asked him why it was so much and he said not to worry because the course is in incredible condition and well worth the price. WRONG!!!! I confronted him on the fact that we were being charged more for the cart than those who paid regular price. He looked around and dismissed my comment.
The course was in HORRIBLE condition with exception of the greens. The greens were in great condition.
On one hole if you happen to hit it in the fairway you have to move your ball because the entire fairway was under repair.(white circle)
To top it off on the 15th hole the cart path is horrible condition. It's broken all along the sides. My father took one step and twisted his ankle very badly because the side of the path crumbled under him.
It was an overall bad experience which on any other day may have been a great course. It's sad that a course will make it so that the deal you think you get on GolfNow is not really a deal at all.
One more thing. If you are looking to purchase snacks between 9 and 10th hole forget it. For whatever reason the same girl who drives the cart around is the one who works the snack bar. So unless she's refilling her cart no one is there at the snack bar. This was on a weekend by the way.
Still needs work
Has some challenging holes. Still needs work especially on the fairways. The greens could be a lot smoother. The course set up is really good. Hopefully the greens and fairways will be in better condition in the next few months. Some of the traps had really nice sand and others not so much Will try it again it in a few months. Beware rate on GolfNow is for walking, extra $15 for cart.
Fun golf course on its way up
The course is improving every time I play since it has gone under new management. The only issue is the Resturant the service is weak at best. Very slow after ordering 30 minute for eggs over and toast. When that improves it will be very enjoyable all around.
GREAT FUN
I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE ATTENTION THEY HAVE PUT INTO RETURNING THE COURSE TO ITS FORMER GLORY
EXCELLENT JOB AND THEY ARE NOT DONE YET
Nice walkable course.
Nice layout. Course in good condition and fun to play. Staff were very friendly.
The course has good potential with the new management.
I've played this course many times over the years. It had become a tired dog track with poor to fair staff. Apparently new management came in 2012. The new staff hustled and were knowledgeable along with service oriented. The course itself has improved but some of fairways & greens are still quite tired. I suspect it takes a while to turn the course around itself so, I give them props for working at it. Price was good for the occasion.
Fairways Need Water
Greens were fine. Fairways very dry. Other than that the course was OK and the Golf Now price was great
Very good staff and pace of play was really good for a late morning Saturday tee time.
Would play it again.
Not happy with cart rates
Carts are new, but don't have GPS and yet the golf course chooses to charge $15 PER person ($30 per twosome)
For this course that's too high. I'll go to crossings instead and pay $10 more
good for walking. two small hills for us old dudes
Enjoyable and mostly wide open and flat. friendly staff and on time for reservation start
Fun, well maintained course
Everything at the course from the clubhouse bathrooms to the greens are well maintained. St. Marks is just as nice (in some ways better) than other courses in SD County that charge 4 times the amount.
My only complaint is that there's only one restroom on the front nine. I suggest skipping the second cup of coffee before teeing off in the morning.
The greens were fantastic
Average course but the greens were fast and smooth.
A little over-priced, considering that cart fees are extra.
3 or 4 fairways were dry and needed more watering. Very little definition, if any, between fairways and rough. Greens were in good condition; relatively fast with subtle breaks. New golf carts.
Love this golf course!
This one of the best values for the walking player. The track is in good shape and course is under repair on several fronts. Nothing being worked on affected my score.
Great value
the course is cheap the greens are in good shape and most rounds are under four hours.
