Way overpriced

Clubhouse staff seemed like I killed their dog. Range balls cost five dollars and are in pitiful shape. Whole course is a mud hole. Don’t know where the starter was. I waited the whole back 9. One of the par fives was a par 3. No mention of this prior. Wouldn’t pay over 30 dollars for this course. Won’t be back because they clearly don’t care about the shape of this course

Expensive mud hole

Very expensive for the condition course was in. Everything is mud including fairways. Greens very inconsistent. Pace of play was pretty bad. Only redeeming quality was one friendly staff member

Downhill

Been playing here occasionally for several years. One hole was closed for some reason and we didn’t get an advanced notice or a discount. They were way behind on tee off. The marshal was very rude and unorganized. A simple walkin talkie would make them 10x more efficient. Only course I’ve played in a while that still requires a receipt at the first tee. Last time I’ll play here. Very over priced.

Course in bad shape

I typically don’t write reviews, but needed to since this course is in bad shape. I’ve played out here over the years with good quality conditions.

Now, the cart paths are cracked all over. You could barely talk or keep a drink from falling out it’s so bumpy. Most of the sand traps were flooded or sand had run over edges and out and many have the base fabric underneath showing. Drainage issues all over the course. Tee boxes are moldy and wet. 5th hole is closed but no offer of a discount or a free small bucket of balls??!?

It’s as if they stopped investing in the course over the past year as it’s gone down hill quick. Wouldn’t play for the price until they repair and invest.

Much improvement needed

Cart paths are a wreck. It's like going off road.

Most of the tee boxes are nearly 1100% sand at this point.

Half the greens, aren't even green.

Many of the holes need help with rain water runoff. I understand the recent rains, but even 2-3 days post-rainy day, you are still stomping around in mud. It's been cart path only for a few weeks due to this.

Don't get me wrong, I love my home course, but they really need to step up the maintenance on the course.

Don’t waste your money

First of all, it’s only 17 holes right now not a full round which you won’t find out until you reach the 5th hole as no one will tell you. The staff seems angry that you are there and are very rude. The course conditions are abysmal. Tee boxes with nothing but sand and dirt with no upkeep, bunkers with mud and rocks with the liners caving in, and greens with sanded dead spots about every 10 feet. I frankly believe they should close for a season to refresh the course as this isn’t the st Marlo of the past and I was terribly disappointed. Please spend ur money elsewhere.

Under Construction

Booked a Hot Deal online $44 for 18, however, we were only able to finish 9 holes due to time and the limited light available. Course was soggy due to the rain, greens were so beat up. The par 5, 5th hole is under construction and not playable at all. We had to skip that hole. Unfortunately, St Marlo is a golf course we may end up skipping to play in the future unless the green fees drop around $50 for 18.

Perfect weather
Used cart

Like a municipal course

No beverage cart

5th hole was shut down for the next 4 months

Started tee time 30 minutes late, in part due to cart path only, because of previous day rain

Called the club house to offer feedback, no one picked up the phone

Had to pay full price for this experience.

It's my home course, so I know what to expect, but today was bad.

Definitely has the potential

Definitely has the potential to be a great course. I know that the winter time is tough on courses, so I’ll keep that in mind, but this course seems a bit neglected.

Aesthetically, this course is amazing. Beautiful holes all over the place! My biggest thing is that for the amount of money you pay, you should have a tad more. Mats on driving range are severely worn. No cart person for snacks and beverages available. The greens are not as terrible as some reviews say, but they could use some TLC. Cart part, make sure you hold any beverages that do not have lids that seal, lol. It’s a bumpy ride, and for cart part only, you’ll feel every bump lol.

I will give this course another chance during spring or summer. I terribly want it to be good!

Would not recommend

First time playing this course. Upon arrival I checked in and purchased a bucket of range balls for warm up. Odd that the course does not allow carts in the parking lot, although they do have a bag drop area. Driving range was your typical range. Practice greens were decent although chipping area was sub-par as there was barely any area for chipping. We teed off on the 1st and all was well. Although, we were last minute informed that the 5th hole was closed. This would have been nice to know ahead of time. A par 5 was closed and there were no alternate holes to play to make up that hole. The course is cart path only…. I would have just walked the whole course knowing that. I know it’s been raining in the area but the WHOLE course was a mud pit. Drainage could definitely be helpful on this course. I will be scheduling a chiropractor appointment though because the cart paths were rough! Knowing that St.Marlo is a high end area I was expecting the course to reflect the area….I will most likely not return as their are better courses in the area for the money.

Good course, could be better

It has been a few years since I've played St. Marlo, and it's a decent course, several beautiful holes, but for the money it needs to be better, little things matter on golf courses, like having a club washer (small tank to dip your iron in) on the cart, there's no gps on the cart, several of the ball washers are broken or missing entirely, there isn't a drink cart that comes around at all !!! This matters when they so tightly space the tee times. The greens were in sub par condition, and on top of that hole #5 was closed all together, but no warning before booking or a discount offered. Drainage is clearly an issue as well, my point with all of this is that there are courses that offer all of these things at a better price. I just expected more from a place like St. Marlo.

Decent course in the area

Decent course in the area. Good pace. Greens could be a little better. Overall not bad for wintertime. Bunkers need more sand.
