Local golfer
I love this pace and always have a great time here. Except on hole #9. F$&@ that hole!! :) jk great course!
Staff needs an attitude adjustment
I love the layout of this course, but that’s about it. The staff, especially the Marshall are horrible. The days of golf being a “mens club” are over. Might want to remember that you are not a private course and treat all of us playing the course with the same respect.
St. Marlo, needs some changes !
Here are my Pros and Cons for the round I played at St. Marlo CC.
Pros:
1. The greens are in great shape and seems to have be aerated several weeks ago. They rolled very nice and not too many divot marks.
2. The sand bunkers had plenty of sand and the course has many for a challenging round. Just if other players would rake the sand once they complete there swing.
Cons:
1. Come on St. Marlo CC staff, GET rid of those 1970 range balls you have and BUYS some new range balls. Member's of this club should be ASHAMED by this. For $95 to play plus range balls, I want a good idea of how I am hitting the golf ball when at the range before starting my round. FIX THIS SIMPLE ISSUE.
2. Playing early morning on Sunday and still it takes 4 and half hours to play is bad. I only saw the ranger once on the front nine. The back nice was the problem. Stop and watch players to see how many extra balls they hit. I saw one guy hit FOUR balls from the rough.
3, The Pro shop staff should be able to answer when the next Aeration will take place. This is just a cop out to keep people from booking future rounds.
4. The fairways still need more time for the grass to grow. Will check back to see if any changes have been make before I book another round.
Course is looking up.
You can tell that the greens were aerated lately but they’ve grown back nicely and roll very true. The grass in the fairways is starting to come back as well. Give it another month and it’ll be the best public course around. Will be back.
Staff Continually The Worst
Went there after some rain. Was hoping to walk the course in order to save time because I knew it'd be cart path only, and it was. I was told there is no walking allowed on the weekends. Keep in mind that there was no one in front of us or behind us the entire time we played. We wouldn't have been slowing play down, or ruining the course.
Our golf cart died at the green of hole no. 1. Had to call and wait for 15 mins before someone came and got us a new cart.
I have gone to this course before and had issues with the staff before so needless to say, this was the last straw.
Love the layout of the course, but with the staff's attitude, condition of the course itself, and price, I find it to be very overpriced.
Fair at best
I’ve played St Marlo many times, but this was disappointing. Obviously nothing can be done about rainfall, but drainage on this course is substandard.
Couple of observations; there should have been a notice that the greens were undergoing aerification. No beverage cart throughout the round. Green fees are overpriced for the overall condition of the course.
Frustrating to see a course in the North Fulton area to go down as much as St Marlo has recently.
Good course, Great staff
A beautiful course that is well laid out. In good condition and it will only get better through the season. Clubhouse staff were very friendly and attentive, both at the pro shop and at the 19th hole. Cart girl was quick and polite. One of the nicer courses around. Just make sure your sand canisters have sand in your way to #1.
Getting there
The course is getting there. Still struggling with grass breaking through and cart paths extremely bumpy but they are working on it. You can clearly see they are working on replacing cart paths and have areas marked to fix. Tee boxes have little grass but looks like they are seeding, lots of fetilizer around so they are trying to get it in good shape. Greens are not bad.
Playing on a Monday pace of play was an issue; foursomes just playing very slowly with no one ever coming around to check the pace. People should be conscious if they are a hole behind and at least attempt to pick up the pace.
Overall you can see they are trying and doing some work to get it back.
Way Overpriced + Wonky Course Layout
I have to say... I really hated this round of golf. I almost bailed at 9, but at this price I had to finish. The course is in terrible condition. It looks like a muni track. Greens were pretty good and fast tho. But let's just talk about this price point, which is my main rub ... you have to pay extra for old dingy range balls to hit off old beat up mats – range should be included at this price. The restaurant/grill was closed, and there was no bev cart (on a Saturday). The course layout is just wonky... like, it's just unclear where the landing zones are. You stand on the tee box and you're just hoping it's going to work out. Some of the approaches are just awkward too. And none of this is in like a fun/challenging way... it just doesn't play right – hard to explain. The cart paths will compress a vertebra and/or rattle a filling loose. It's just a combination of a course in rough condition and all the little things that also suck.. again, at this price point. The place needs a major renovation. Look, these are all things I willing sign up for at $50 and under courses. But there are way better options at this price point, and that's where I'll be gaming.
Decent
Was cart path only even though no rain for over week and ranger said we needed to pick up our pace
