Goat Hill Park
About
Located in Oceanside, Goat Hill Park originally opened in 1952 as a nine-hole course called Center City Golf Course. It was the first golf course in San Diego County and in the 1980s was designated as protected public land that cannot be developed without a public vote. The course was redesigned in the 1990s into an 18-hole short course and soon became known by locals as "Goat Hill." The course was threatened by development in 2014 but the local community fought the plans at city hall and a new management team led by local residents John Ashworth, David Emerick and Geoff Cunningham assumed management of the golf course. Using volunteer corps of tradesman and citizens along with dedicated staff, they renovated and revitalized Goat Hill to its current state. The course features one par 5 on its par-65 layout and features long views from its perch on a hill. It also has a full driving range, pro shop as well as disc golf interwoven into the layout.

Good Greens
The woman who checked us in is rude and is not an asset to this course which is barely staying afloat.
This course should be nuked
This course should be closed permanently. It looks it was carved from a hiking trail
It is unsafe to play it. Players should be advised to play at risk from injury or death.
The course and holes are in very bad condition. So are the restroom facilities
To sum it up I cannot recommend anyone to play it.
On Goat Hill Drive...good name
Great day at this course. Even with a cart you got lots of exercise! Well worth playing ...very challenging. Course fairways are very very dry. Greens were ok. Rain today will help.
Waited 30 minutes past my tee time for cart
They have a lack of golf carts in working order so we had to wait 30 mins for a cart past our tee time. The cart we finally got have out in the back nine. Other than that it was a fun course for the price.
Ridiculous Customer Service
The worst service I have ever experienced at a golf course. I arrived 40 min prior to my tee time and was yelled at because I would not join up with another single teeing off right when I arrived. I was told if I didn't join him that I would have to pay double my reserved price (through GolfNow) to have my own golf cart - which was part of my reservation price. The sad part is, I'm a regular at this course.
Condition
Course should be closed. Not worth playing. Fairways all dead.
this course could be great
This course used to play better but in recent times it has fallen upon hard times. There is more dirt than grass on most fairways. With more love and attention to the grass this could be a wonderful course.
gopher holes
hit a ball in what they call a fairway (dirt) lose it in a gopher hole.
Tee box was good greens where good but nothing else.
If I had payed more than $10 i would have been up set
Wow
Never again will I play at this course. I felt it is never taken care of.
Staff Rude Again!
This was the 3rd time the lady at the counter was very Rude to me! She rushed out to tell me to hurry up and turn my cart in as they were running short on carts, even though 10 were lined up in front of the pro-shop! Very unfriendly and complains too much about the young kids working there. Should have learned my lesson the other two times I received poor service and an unwelcoming attitude from the lady! I'll play elsewhere next time.
You get what you pay for
This could be a really good course however, it's horrid. I only played this course to get some practice in with some new clubs at a really cheap price $12. Driving range ok, putting green ok, course was grotesque. Dirt for fairways, holes everywhere, the only good portions of the course are the tee boxes, and SOME of the greens. Like I said, you get what you pay for, if you don't have the money to spend, but still want to get a round in, this is your place, never too crowded, staff are really laid back and nice, no course marshall (that I saw of) and I can't leave out that after only 2 holes, my cart died and had to call to get them to bring a new one.
Great value course
Pros: Challenging course and few golfers around to wait for. Nice staff.
Cons: Challenges were a lack of grass on some slopes - gave you plenty of opportunities for exercise. This is a city-maintained course so pro shop was quite small.
The tee box and putting greens are great condition, but almost every fairway need improvements.
The course layout is great, lots of up and down hills. Not the easy course. If fairways improved, it would be fantastic course.
Disgusting fairway
No grass in fairways. It's like playing in the desert!
This course has challening elevations.
This is a great course for the money,it is very hard to play sometimes with the wind direction and the hills,it is sometimes a really good workout to walk this course .You need to be fairly accurate with your shots,or you will not find your ball.I always enjoy playing this course.
Not Our Kind Of Course
We play several times a week at home, but have never encountered a course quite like this. It was more challenging than our skill set - hills where balls just roll down into a deep chasm between you and the hole when you miss the green. On the good side - greens and tees are in great shape, but the fairways are mostly hard sand and sage brush. A staff member said the city would not let them water the fairways.
Stay Away
Course may have been great back in 1492, but not now....course in very poor condition mostly hard ground and roughage....totally worn out.....don't think they ever heard of water. Even cart ran out of electricity at the 14th hole....had to wait
Worst course I've ever played.
It is the worst laid out and poorest maintained course I've ever had tth miss fortune too play. There are no fairways. Just dirt mouds and valleys and car tracks between the tees and greens. We'd tee off then spend at lease 5 minutes trying to find our balls when we hit them straight towards the pin. It was absurd. Unfortunately I had already booked another tee time so my other son could join us for a game and that was the only tee time available. I'm a Par Member and I'm going to have to look for another provider when tee times are scarce.
Great price!
The course conditions are average but the price is great. Not crowded so you can play fast or slow.
