Goat Hill Park

About
Located in Oceanside, Goat Hill Park originally opened in 1952 as a nine-hole course called Center City Golf Course. It was the first golf course in San Diego County and in the 1980s was designated as protected public land that cannot be developed without a public vote. The course was redesigned in the 1990s into an 18-hole short course and soon became known by locals as "Goat Hill." The course was threatened by development in 2014 but the local community fought the plans at city hall and a new management team led by local residents John Ashworth, David Emerick and Geoff Cunningham assumed management of the golf course. Using volunteer corps of tradesman and citizens along with dedicated staff, they renovated and revitalized Goat Hill to its current state. The course features one par 5 on its par-65 layout and features long views from its perch on a hill. It also has a full driving range, pro shop as well as disc golf interwoven into the layout.

Goat hill
Goat hill is a great, fun, mid length course that has reachable par 4s. Interesting layout with a lot of elevation change which keeps it interesting from start to finish. Par is 64 and is always a good time with a great atmosphere with great folks, great food, great pro shop/ range/putting greens. Everything.. it’s always a pleasure coming down to play. Thanks GOAT !
Improved
Had not played here for about 5 or more years.
I heard good things about it.
So, I wanted to try it again.
I love all the changes made and being made.
Good job staff.
Goat hill
You can’t just play this course once. You need a few rounds to see where to hit shots. Fun course.
Fun but weird
You will have fun playing this course. Some would consider it "goofy golf" because of some of the extreme terrain and blind shots. You definitely have some unconventional shots. Best to play with a local that has played it before. Only the most fit should attempt to walk. The greens were in very good shape but a bit shaggy elsewhere. There is not enough land for 18 holes but they shoehorned it in. Get used to "fore".
Fun day at goat hill as usual
Goat hill is a great course. It has everything a player could want. Nice range/practice area. Great course layout and conditions. Great Food. Friendly staff. Layer back, chilled out atmosphere. Even a caddy program which is great to see. Very friendly and informative starter. Always a plus. Starts things out on the right foot. Always a pleasure !.. 5 stars all the way ! Thanks Goat Hill !
Dazed and confused
The layout of this course has got to be the most confusing courses I ever played. The course lack direction of where the next hole is and on several holes fairways cross!?
If you don’t drive far start from a good grass layout and continue.
I am 86 and have lost distance on putting. - suggest hitting from first grass arraign par 4 and 5 great scoring are to be made- you must hit straight.
Tight clean course
I have been coming here for the last 6 months at least once a week and they are making this place great again. They have added a bunch of new fairway grass to almost every hole. Greens are in great shape. Only thing missing now is food. They don't even serve hot dogs...
Confused
July 29th…Had early tee time 7am, cudnt see ish for 2 holes bcz of clouds. Golf cart cooler was full of trash/cans, ongoing construction on the course, hole yardage on many holes was incorrect, workers on green while trying to hit up, no net around driving range area, tiny greens, blind hole locations off the tee. prob wont come here again. Gets 2 out of 5 stars for me, no thx
Goat hill
Fun course to play. Greens are in great shape, fairways are good. Lots of ups and downs.
